  1. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 26, 2011 -> 10:23 AM) Yeah, I definitely saw him cracking him with the chair in my head, but then I realized that's not his style and it's a public place. He will get his, eventually. Hector or Gus? Because Hector has already gotten his. He's unable to communicate with anyone other than through a bell. And Gus has now taken everything else from him. His entire family is gone and every single business associate has been murdered by Gus. All he can do is sit there and stew in it for the rest of his miserable life. Gus has made it his mission to inform him of all of this, but to keep him alive to suffer even more for having killed Gus' friend years ago. I seriously doubt that Gus has any plans to kill Hector.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 26, 2011 -> 10:18 AM) I thought the same thing with the hesitation. I wasn't even sure that wasn't supposed to be a subtle message from Gus to Hector that I killed your whole family, and I could kill you too if I really wanted to. Perhaps, but the guy is very stoic and deliberate in his movements, so it could also very easily have just been the way he moved. Either way, I'm sure that the director meant it to remind the viewers that Gus is capable of anything at any moment.
  3. Well, someone still said it. It's not like no one saw a disappointing season coming from him. I certainly didn't see it coming, but some apparently did.
  4. I'll watch on TV, but I'm not breaking my word just to see one guy pitch.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 26, 2011 -> 07:52 AM) As long as they didn't leave the magazine there that fatboy was flipping through. Anyways, best scene of the night went to Gus with Hector. For a guy who isn't supposed to be able to do anything because of his stroke, the actor who plays Hector is awesome. Gus dropping Don Elario's necklace into his shirtpocket was bad-assed. I was wondering how Walt figured out the money was gone. I'm not sure about the whole cracking up laughing thing, but OK. It was cool to see Jesse still go to bat for Walt, even though Walt has no idea. This has to be the real beginning of Walt's death spiral. There are a million different possibilities but now the guy has no money, a ton of enemies, and Hank closing in slowly but surely. I almost wonder if Walt getting "fired" opens the door for the operation to be taken down, and for him to silently have slipped out of getting caught? You're right about the guy who plays Hector. His name's Mark Margolis, and he's been in a ton of stuff. Did you get the impression that Gus was about to beat him to death with the chair as he picked it up and slowly walked behind him? He was just putting it back by the table, but I swear they gave it the slightest hesitation so that you think it might happen. You just never know what Gus will do. The laughing thing made sense. He went from screaming in complete frustration and fear to just understanding exactly how f***ed he is and finding kind of a dark comedic aspect to it. I think we've all laughed when something happens to us that is completely s***ty. I think Walt did have an idea that Jesse went to bat for him. He mentioned in the desert that Gus can't kill him because Jesse won't let him.
  6. QUOTE (farmteam @ Sep 26, 2011 -> 12:04 AM) Boardwalk Empire premiere tonight. Decent, but not great. Seems like they spent most of the time setting stuff up; wasn't too much action on the whole. The stuff with Van Alden was pretty good, though. Such a strange character. To say the least. I like the character, but in weird way. I'm actually surprised at how much I forgot from last season on that show.
  7. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 25, 2011 -> 11:53 PM) Yeah, I know.....what part about my comment confused you? Oh, I went back and reread it. It seemed confusing, but I get it. My bad. I don't think they're angry (Saul and the heavies). There shouldn't be any evidence that they were there, and I'm sure they can have it cleaned up pretty quickly if they needed it. Just drop the letter in the mailbox and there's no problem on their end. The problem is going to be for Walt and his family.
  8. QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 26, 2011 -> 12:05 AM) Yessir. Looks to me like Bos and StL though, with those opponents. Definitely. I didn't think the Rays would have even gotten to within 0.5, but they managed it. The Red Sox win tonight should fuel them to finish strong, though.
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 25, 2011 -> 10:38 PM) You Hawk haters can hate on him all you want, but there's only one announcer in baseball who would have said what he said today. He said it was unbelievable to him and he repeated in a loud voice, unbelievable, that a team with this talent finished under .500. Nobody gets away with that, except Sox announcers. Most announcers suck the company line. Hawk is the quintessential company man. I usually hate him, so trust me when I say that he's been better the last few weeks. I think the reason for that, though, is that the company line is changing against Ozzie. So he's not speaking out against the company. The company's view just changed.
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 25, 2011 -> 08:40 PM) Seriously, if you were the owner of the White Sox, and concerned with the franchise going forward, why would you take YET ANOTHER chance that Walker can turn around Beckham, Rios and Dunn? Don't you have to first find out if another coach can get something out of them before you totally write off the equivalent of a $100 million investment? Let's put it another way. You have just paid an expensive KAPLAN SAT/ACT tutor to increase your child's score and they've actually regressed in the two exams since their original score of 27. The second exam and third exam showed results of 25 and then 26. You heard another student (this is the Adam Dunn of the analogy) who was in all Honors/AP classes and had a 3.75 GPA actually got a 23 after working for two months with the same tutor. Would you keep paying that tutor your hard-earned money or try another approach? Based on a FULL THREE SEASONS of "failing" results, besides Paul Konerko, what strong support exists for Walker besides saying Rudy Jaramillo and Leo Mazzone failed with the Cubs and Orioles...and that change just for change's sake won't make bad hitters miraculously better? I like this post.
  11. QUOTE (Tex @ Sep 25, 2011 -> 07:01 PM) And I'll agree with you again. If all that played for him came out, that would be a different thing. Hell, if 3/4 came out, I'd probably accept that. How about you? Three-fourth enough? I dunno, a substantial amount. One or two guys making a passing reference doesn't do it for me.
  12. If they tie, there would be a one-game playoff, correct?
  13. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 25, 2011 -> 11:41 PM) By the way, what happened to Beneke? Surely they can't be trying to make us think he killed himself when he fell, right? Because I assume they were mad because it made it look like they beat his ass for the signature, not that they were nice to him about it. What? He tripped over the carpet and flew head first into a (likely marble?) slab at full speed. They showed his finger move, so he may live, but that can certainly kill a person.
  14. QUOTE (Felix @ Sep 25, 2011 -> 10:04 PM) Oh Breaking Bad For a second, I was getting worried that they were going to rehash an old storyline, but they've gone and f***ed my whole world up again. I can't imagine there ever being a show that was better than this.
  15. QUOTE (Tex @ Sep 25, 2011 -> 06:42 PM) Good point. So we can dismiss what players say about the coaches, I'm all for that. If they ALL came out in support of him, it'd be a different story. I think you act purposely obtuse sometimes. Scratch that. I'm sure of it.
  16. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 25, 2011 -> 05:02 PM) I could see the Cubs hiring Kenny because of 2005, like how the Marlins would hire Ozzie for 2005. Now there's no doubt that it's being ignored and not just unnoticed.
  17. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 25, 2011 -> 03:43 PM) That I won't srgue with, but ewveryone was calling Viciedo the next Babe Ruth-our savior-etc and he just has not come through since being up. But, we just watched Dunn-De Aza and Morel go down 1-2-3 on strike outs in the 9th. Holland ends with 4 K's to win it for KC. So frustrating to have the chance in the bottom of the 8th with the bases juiced and Dayan "Babe Ruth" Vicideo at bat and take a called third strike The only time "savior" was used in sentences with "Viciedo" was when the people that DIDN'T want him called up would say, "Viciedo won't be a savior to this team." People that wanted him called up simply said that he would help a struggling offense and/or be a surefire upgrade from Dunn. I wish people would read better.
  18. He always struck me as being in the mold of Ozzie, although better. I think he was more a recipient of incredible talent than being a great manager (Phil Jackson). I want to go in a completely new direction.
  19. QUOTE (Tex @ Sep 25, 2011 -> 03:34 PM) Funny a current player's endorsement isn't valued as much as a job interview with another team. /ducking It's not special to most people because you EXPECT a player to say nice things about his coaches, especially a classy guy like Konerko. If Walker were the consensus worst coach in professional sports, you'd still get the occasional fluff piece from a player.
  20. QUOTE (VictoryMC98 @ Sep 25, 2011 -> 01:50 PM) So another... Its Ozzie's fault, that Kenny sucks thread.. got it. That thread again: http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?sh...3338&st=465
  21. QUOTE (VictoryMC98 @ Sep 25, 2011 -> 01:43 PM) And Carlos breaking his hand, and still making the playoffs.. Despite a lack luster roster. Lets not forget Kenny's "big" trade deadline deal... Griffey.. Let me ask you this.. We know Marlins want Ozzie... What Team would Kenny go to? Hey Vic, this is the thread where Quinarvy owned you (or you owned him in your world). Feel free to read and respond. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?sh...3338&st=465
  22. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 25, 2011 -> 12:28 PM) They attempted to talk to him. There's no guarantee they would have signed him. They gave Rothschild $2 million for 3 years. How much better are they now? How much better is the Cubs offense under Jaramillo? What happened to Leo Mazzone and the Orioles pitching staff when he bolted Atlanta and was thought of as the premier pitching coach? What makes coaches good pitching coaches and good hitting coaches are good pitchers and good hitters. Has anyone ever requested to talk to Walker?
  23. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Sep 24, 2011 -> 10:48 PM) Adam Dunn was a huge gamble? No, sorry. Yes, he fell off hard and it backfired, but no one, not even you, could have predicted his collapse. Peavy, when he was traded for had a minor injury. He tried to push the envelope and come back in time for three meaningless starts to prove himself to his new team. His team let him. Even with that said, he was by far the best pitcher available that any team wanted. And beginning this year, nobody was depending on Peavy. Everyone pretty much agreed that whatever you got from him was gravy. Rios, a guy I've always hated just had a good year in 2010. Nobody was counting on him being a bucket of suck either. Just to keep up his normal play. He couldn't do that. Rios and Dunn were depended on and both failed miserably. I'll always give Kenny flack for Rios, but not for Peavy. QUOTE (Tex @ Sep 25, 2011 -> 07:17 AM) Yes they did, just ask them And they are way better at predicting the team's finish. All those so called experts who picked the team to win the division don't know anything about baseball. people here knew Dunn would have this kind of season. They knew Rios would suck and Peavy would be injured and take longer to heal. Kenny should have gotten Pujols in a trade for three can't miss prospects while continuing to build the minor league system. He did. Randy was there right from the beginning denouncing that signing. But let's not stop you guys from making false generalizations.
  24. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Sep 25, 2011 -> 07:14 AM) i That may have been what he was trying to say.....but in reality, he has consistently built teams with second, third, or fouth talent only to have Ozzie make them overachieve. Hahahaha.
