Cooper hangs up on show after Dayan question
Milkman delivers replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 11:44 AM) Yeah guys, but put yourself in Cooper's position...if he says anything of substance really, he is going to get talked to by management. He should have just said he doesn't comment on the offensive side of things, other than to give them positive reinforcement, and let that be the end of it. Exactly. But he angrily hung up and I think that shows the overall demeanor of the clubhouse. They're all very angry at the lack of performance and, I'm assuming, not all of them believe in this "stick to the same group of guys" formula. -

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 11:40 AM) If you guys really think that the pitching coach is going to come out and say that the either the Manager or GM are screwing up because they are not adding Viciedo, thats ridiculous. He is employed by the White Sox, arguably KW and Ozzie are his superiors. Last I checked Cooper has no decision making in terms of hitting personnel. Might as well ask Sod Father if he thinks Viciedo should be called up. That's quite a stretch from what people are saying. -
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 11:40 AM) If someone hit 21 homers for 8 straight seasons, that's 168. That's pretty solid pop. I just thought he was more of a 30 homer guy or something. I would have guesses that his MLB homers were in the mid-to-upper 200's.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 11:38 AM) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Glasses She was the accused Cousin Jeffrey kisser by blind George. I recall the episode, but I don't remember her being the actress. I guess she's just forgettable.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 11:34 AM) Its an asinine question to ask the pitching coach. It's the media. At least they're asking the question. And since nobody in a position of power will talk about it, I guess they figured that they'd try to get an answer from one of the hotheaded coaches. -
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 11:19 AM) All of this. Save the ending a sentence with a preposition; I wouldn't have done that. Shut up. Get it?

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 11:21 AM) Oh yeah, she gained a ton of weight, the wife and I were talking about it. Actually, that's probably why she was wearing what she was... the cover-all or wahtever you want to call it probably hides her sides and newly gigantic ass. I, however, never found her attractive to begin with... her heyday was back in her one episode of Seinfeld. She was looking solid there. That's what I said, ya big jerk! But yeah, she's just mediocre. Which Seinfeld?

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 11:22 AM) I'd much rather have the same generic BS in the interviews from our coaches/GM if it meant that they weren't all talk and no action. Ozzie and company have no freaking marbles. Seriously, they're a bunch of paper tigers. -

QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 11:18 AM) OK, but Ozzie pissed off last night and Copper pissed off this AM it not really "imploding." Better this than the same 'ol BS like other clubs. Na, we'll just take our same old bulls*** like we always do, with no change whatsoever. -
QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 10:23 AM) Anything that gets Mary Elizabeth Winstead on screen is ok with me. Where do you acquire so many crushes on actresses? I had no idea who that girl was or what she was from. And after looking up her credits and having seen some of the movies, I still can't single her out.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 10:32 AM) It was hard to tell anything with what they had her wearing. That's one of the reasons I noticed. Her face and neck/upper body seemed chunkier, but it was hard to tell because it seemed like they were attempting to cover it up. I don't care, I just find it funny that she managed to gain so much weight in a few hours.

QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 11:02 AM) This is news? What's the big deal? It's more news in a trend of the management of this team seemingly imploding. -
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 10:58 AM) First of all, ignorant and naive I don't view as inherently negative terms. It's just most people don't actually understand what they mean (not saying you don't) He said "Hopefully next winter he will actually prepare for the season" or something like that. What did he do differently? By all accounts nothing, he did the same thing he always has. And just because he doesnt pick up a bat, doesn't mean he doesnt prepare or train. I hate people using those kind of hindsight jabs and reasons for player's struggles when it is foolish to do so. If he had picked a bat this off-season and was going through problems you know people would be all over him changing his routine (or blaming Walker for making him) etc... Look at it this way in a simple form We can assume that Event A has led to Event B for 7 or 8 years since that is a large sample size. Event A occurred again this year and right now we are seeing Event C. To now assume that Event A is the cause of Event C is presumptuous at best, ignorant at worst. I don't believe that his off-season workout has much significance in this. You don't just forget how to hit a baseball. One of my degrees is in statistical analysis, and to make a claim that Event A now leads to Event C is kind of ignorant. Even without getting all 'mathy' I find it ridiculous to think what he did or did not do in January is the cause of this. His spring wasn't great but it was far from disastrous. Something is wrong with him and I think at this point there has to be something hugely mental about it. This was just one example, but this board just loves the hindsight blame game and it's incredibly annoying. And changing his offseason routine can help with that.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 10:40 AM) To be fair, how often do you listen to or check out other team's daily/routine media relations? I lived in Boston for nearly 6 years for school and work, plus we have the Cubs. -
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 09:09 AM) This thread reminds me of the simpsons episode when he made the pig for dinner, and the pig shot out the window, down the street, in the gutter, and finally shot into the ocean or whatever, and the whole time Homer is following it saying "Its still ok, we can still eat it, its still ok, i can clean it off" It's just a little dirty, it's still good. It's just a little airborne, it's still good.

Does management of any other team in baseball get away with being jerks as much as the Sox? I swear, these guys get away with, to put it lightly, being less than civil much more than any other organization I've ever heard about. Our manager routinely either flat-out calls people morons, often the fans, or very strongly hints at it and acts as though he's unquestionable. Our pitching coach cannot take even the slightest amount of criticism, and our GM is the same way, plus he also acts like he could never be wrong. -
QUOTE (smalls2598 @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 08:41 AM) Hideki Matsui hit his 500th career homerun yesterday. Of course, the first 332 came in Japan. Only 168 in America? I would have thought that number was much higher.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 07:43 AM) Thanks for bumping that reply. I hadn't read it yet because I hadn't seen the episode when it was posted. Great thought, thought he looks nothing like the sketch made for the wanted poster. I hadn't seen it yet either. I was away for the weekend. But eh, the sketch was pretty plain. If he had shorter hair and wore a hat and glasses, he (or anyone) could look like him. Did Skyler look chubbier to anyone else?

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 17, 2011 -> 11:33 PM) Breaking Bad was awesome! I didn't consider that, but it's so obvious that it's almost certainly going to be the case. Gus is one cold bastard and even though I thought that was going to happen, I didn't see it coming that way. Have to feel terrible for Gale, especially after that first scene.

I'm not a big fan of remakes in general, but The Thing is a pretty good candidate for it. The original, while very good, is also sort of cheesy in its effects. If they do it correctly, the new one can be good.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 09:03 PM) Catholic dogma has varied wildly over its history. I tend to agree with the idea that the pope is an anti-Christ, so I am probably not the best person to ask about that. Whaaat?

QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 08:31 PM) The manager won't play the kid unless he has the OK to bench the $56 million stiff the GM has saddled with him for the next 3 1/2 years, the guy who can't hit as well as Joey Cora or Greg Walker. not an ozzie problem. It's a Kenny problem. Kenny is the one ruining this franchise. Why are so many people adamant that it has to be one or the other? Both of those jagoffs (let's face it, they are) are responsible. Send them both packing.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 08:21 PM) To everyone who says he won't quit...if hes hitting .150 next May and on the bench, do you think he'd endure that for 2.5 more years? For $14 million a year? I'd definitely stick around being terrible at baseball and drowning in boos for three years. I bet Dunn would, too.
