  1. QUOTE (T R U @ May 17, 2011 -> 12:46 PM) there's no point in arguing with him.. if you don't agree that Cleveland is the best team in baseball and the White Sox are the worst team to ever play the game then you are just a blind optimist who thinks the Sox are going to the World Series Oh come on, at some point you'll have to start taking them seriously. Well you should, but you won't QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 17, 2011 -> 10:47 AM) I'll bet it is all of the booing and empty seats. That was a pretty great thread, haha.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 17, 2011 -> 08:21 AM) Detroit has a better chance than Cleveland. There I said it. Yep, I've been saying that for weeks QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 17, 2011 -> 08:13 AM) Not sure if you're being fictitious or not, but I think they're the best team in the division. They certainly have the two best pitchers and best position player in the division. This guy's a myth.
  3. Wow, this team... They're making it hard to root for and watch them.
  4. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 17, 2011 -> 12:03 PM) Pitchers who can't keep runners close, can't adjust their timing when in the strtetch and such and have slow deliveries to the plate is the problem. AJP can't do much about that QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 17, 2011 -> 12:16 PM) Stone really broke the numbers down in good detail. Last night, AJ didn't have a chance because of Edwin. Why is it always one thing or another on this site? It is obvious, and I mean plain as day, that it's both the pitcher and AJ. The pitchers do a terrible job of holding guys and most of them have slow deliveries, but AJ is just f***ing terrible.
  5. QUOTE (jasonxctf @ May 17, 2011 -> 09:34 AM) Well and that's the $64,000 question... are the Sox trying to win here in 2011 or set themselves up nicely for 2012? If the answer is 2011, then you've got to put the best performing players on the field, every day. If the answer is 2012, then you put Morel at 3B and bring up Viciedo to play LF. That part doesn't exactly fit. If you're trying to win in 2011, you play Viciedo in LF right now.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 17, 2011 -> 07:46 AM) This is how it always goes with Ozzie and a kid. The kid gets 60 at bats. 75 if we're lucky. If he hasn't started hitting by then, he enters the doghouse and whatever guy Ozzie likes more starts getting all the at bats, while the young guy lingers. I'm glad people are starting to come around to this, but why has it taken so long to realize this?
  7. QUOTE (Lillian @ May 17, 2011 -> 08:31 AM) We all have to remember that Ozzie can't speak as candidly about players as we can, here in a forum. He has to be supportive of his players, as long as they remain on the team. What would it accomplish to talk about J. P. the way we do? I'm confident that Ozzie and K. W. are contemplating the kind of move that we'd all like to see, but we aren't going to hear anything about it until it happens. I think when the time comes, Ozzie will spin it something like this: "We have to give this kid a chance. He's playing really well at Charlotte, and we have to find a place for him. Juan is struggling right now, so we're going to give the Tank some playing time." If Viciedo can establish himself, they probably don't care any more than we do what they do with Pierre. But in the meantime, they have to do whatever they can to try to instill confidence in Juan's psyche. I think that if we were in Ozzie's shoes, we'd do the same thing. I hope that Juan doesn't read our comments about him. That could negate anything Ozzie might say to try to bolster his confidence. You have to feel a little bad for the guy. I'm one of his biggest detractors, but you have to give him credit for being a hard working, dedicated athlete. If he fails, it sure isn't for the lack of effort. It's a shame that he just doesn't have many tools beyond his diminishing speed. I don't have that faith in Ozzie at all. Honest to God, he keeps a horrible player on the team every year.
  8. QUOTE (3E8 @ May 17, 2011 -> 12:20 PM) You're right. Baseball teams are always paying their players exactly in accordance with their true value. Just ask Zito, Soriano, or Wells. Or Jake Peavy
  9. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 17, 2011 -> 09:09 AM) New Tosh tonight. Ooh, thanks for the reminder.
  10. If Ozzie takes Pierre out of the leadoff spot, it'll be for a game or two. After that, he will have "learned" his lesson and will be leading off again immediately after not having earned it back.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 16, 2011 -> 09:17 PM) Get out ahead of them and they just break and say "oh well maybe next time" I can see that. It's weird. I haven't gotten mad at this team since like the first week of the season. They've been so bad that I can't even rile myself up. Hawk really needs to do something about his terrible reads. By his call, you would've thought that that fly out was halfway up the concourse.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 16, 2011 -> 09:13 PM) They remind me way too much of the Heat. How is that? I'm not a basketball fan at all.
  13. Man, does it seem like these guys just aren't even trying? It did not look like Dunn even jogged to first on his DP, Peña didn't even attempt to cover 1B earlier, and Beckham didn't seem to try to get that ball.
  14. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 16, 2011 -> 05:16 PM) FYI if you have Comcast and downloaded Teen Anal Nightmare 2, you are probably going to be receiving notice of a subpoena for a lawsuit. Ive already had 2 calls today about it. Haha, good thing I have Directv. What is this lawsuit in regards to, though? My cousin got word of a subpoena last week. I wonder if it's related, as he had no idea why he got it.
  15. I think you misunderstand my point. I was attempting to do the exact opposite.
  16. Can someone tell me what the f*** the point is of making a McCain/Palin movie? I'm just thinking of how stupid and pointless that Bush movie was.
  17. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 16, 2011 -> 12:05 PM) I am 99.999% sure this was a misstatement, trying to make an analogy. I highly, highly doubt she thinks this is a crime. Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich might though. This is what I thought.
  18. I know that Morel has historically struggled at first offensively at each level of the minors. Can someone with more knowledge of prospects tell me how long those struggles usually lasted?
  19. Oh my God oh my God oh my God I think my head might explode. I don't want to live on this planet anymore.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 16, 2011 -> 12:08 PM) ACCOUNTABILITY!!! Ugh, I don't know why this is such a joke to a lot of you. There is zero accountability on this team, I guess unless you're a young guy.
  21. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ May 16, 2011 -> 12:25 PM) I've wanted this to happen from the very beginning. If he's not dead, use him at third. And if he is, use him at third anyway because it would still be better than Morel at the plate. He'd still be able to draw a walk better than Morel. That's for sure.
  22. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ May 16, 2011 -> 09:17 AM) I did not ask who was having a better season, I asked who you thought was the better player. Crawford is obviously more talented, but he has been worse this season. I don't get what you're trying to prove, as you clearly understand this.
  23. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ May 16, 2011 -> 04:18 AM) All I know is how we can continue to march JP out there leading off of all things is absolutely ridiculous. I cannot believe KW isn't having a discussion with Ozzie about this...it's turning into a much WORSE situation than the Mark Kotsay DH debacle of 2010 in my opinion. What a joke, really. This team would be immediately improved if we put Dayan out there in the OF and started to play Teahen/Oldmar more at 3B. Send Morel down and if Ozzie doesn't want to DFA Pierre we can have him pinch run (although I'd hate to see that as well with how awful he's been this year at baserunning) I'm so tired of this routine. Every single season, we have a player that is just pathetic but continues to play all the time.
  24. QUOTE (YASNY @ May 16, 2011 -> 08:04 AM) You mean the 10 year period that has been the most sucessful decade in Sox history since the late 50's through mid 60's? Yeah, I hate that crap too. I love the older group's mentality. We're better than we were when we were a laughingstock. Hooray!
