  1. LOL premature. His elbow might pop tomorrow.
  2. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 18, 2011 -> 10:31 PM) mmmhmmm Haha. I guess the quickest way to answer this question as best we can would be to have everyone say who they ignore. I'm willing to start if everyone is fine with it.
  3. I have two people ignored, and I think it makes perfect sense for me. I am compelled to read each and every post that I can see. With those two particular posters, I don't believe they add anything of merit whatsoever. It's just nonsensical rambling with no logic at all.
  4. QUOTE (JPN366 @ May 18, 2011 -> 03:45 PM) To be fair, I work in TV, the camera doesn't add 10 pounds, it adds 30. Christina Aguilera is maybe 145 at most now. Remember, she's fairly short. TV cameras can't perceive much depth, everything looks bigger on TV than it really is. That's why they use so much dark lighting on shows because it creates depth. At work, I see people in person, then I see them on camera, you wouldn't believe the difference. Take for example Jennifer Carpenter from "Dexter," you see how skinny she is on the show. If you saw her in person, you could see through her. Ugh, how skinny was Calista Flockhart in reality then? QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 18, 2011 -> 04:33 PM) Well, pre-weight loss Snooki... now she's thinned up a bit. The key difference is that Snooki is gross either way.
  5. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ May 18, 2011 -> 03:36 PM) Conversations like this one can go round and round, obviously. But just another view of it: If CLE beats us two straight, it puts them at .682 pct, so it's a pace for 110 wins. With that information, I think most of us would step back and say at that point...CLE will slump at some point. They're not going to continue at this pace. Their slump doesn't have to start against us - we just need the slump to happen. And unless they're getting 110 wins, some form of it will happen. So it's great to be trailing a team with a ridiculously good record rather than a pretty decent record, as they will definitely fall off. Got it.
  6. The crowd will be terrible with the Bulls playing and the weather.
  7. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 18, 2011 -> 03:16 PM) I think "give it time" is an argument for my stance or anyone else who believes this too They're not making any necessary changes or showing any sort of attitude that would suggest that they understand that they need to perform better. I can say "give it time" and I will have six-pack abs, but I have to actually do the work to get there. Just saying that there's time will amount to nothing. The team needs a change in personnel and/or aggressiveness.
  8. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 18, 2011 -> 02:11 PM) Well the Indians are going to fall back down to earth. They've had an easy schedule and have had an unsustainable amount of walk off/we shouldn't have won this game type of wins. I look at the team and I don't see a 100+ win team. In fact, I'd be surprised if they played .500 ball the rest of the way. They are going to have a slump or two and even if they maintain a .500 pace, we could catch them with good solid baseball. If the Indians play .500 baseball for the rest of the season, they will end up with 87 or 88 wins. So the Sox would have to win about 90 games, which would require a .600 clip for the remainder of the year.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 18, 2011 -> 02:47 PM) In our case, both of my parents divorced and remarried. Ah, that makes sense. QUOTE (knightni @ May 18, 2011 -> 02:46 PM) Crash the mfer. Haha, I'm way too quiet and nice in person to do that (I know it wouldn't seem like it from my behavior here). I have known this guy since we were kids, though. We went to school together from kindergarten through high school and I still see him quite a bit. It's a real kick in the balls, I'll say that much.
  10. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ May 18, 2011 -> 02:04 PM) It's a tough call without knowing all the circumstances. Like was said, you could have been up against Mom's neighborhood friend or something. I know some people break it down by guests invited per person - like 50 per group or whatever, so you were #51 on a 50 person cut off. In your situation I lean towards you being right, an acquaintance, but who knows. Guest lists are tough (I'm going through it now). Even tougher when you have a limited # of spots and 3 families to work with instead of 2. That changes everything significantly. Almost no friends get a plus one unless they are married or they are a true SIGNIFICANT other and we know them. That's just the reality of our situation, but who knows if people will realize that. My attitude - if you are really offended by that and don't want to come because of it, then that's fine, you don't have to. For every "random" plus one we threw in there, we'd have to cut one of our friends or family members. Call me crazy, I'd rather have more people there we know and love than essentially random strangers. How did this come about?
  11. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 18, 2011 -> 01:29 PM) And more likely than not, after the wedding they'll say to each other "Why did we invite ____? We should have invited Ron instead." I know I had those thoughts about certain people at our wedding. Some of our "friends" didn't even get us a card. f***ing lame. Well, of course. And it sucks, as I'm a very good gifter.
  12. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 18, 2011 -> 01:18 PM) Given that everyone else was invited, unless they forgot (sure, not the best excuse, but with as much that goes on in the planning, I could easily understand this, I had forgotten people in my initial list and had to send out later invites to them), but if you are #301 out of 300, its not to say they aren't friends with you, it might just be more that on there ranking of friends you aren't as high on the list. And that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Just maybe you aren't as tight as the others that they wanted to. But if you can't make it into the top 300, doesn't that basically say you're an acquaintance and not a friend?
  13. Well, there were exactly two people in our circle that didn't get invited. I felt completely snubbed, but most people tried to convince me that I shouldn't have felt that way (they were invited, of course). That's the thing that pissed me off the most, people acting as though I had no reason to feel upset about it. I just wanted to get a sense from people who are completely removed from the scenario. And I mean, everybody our age and in that group of friends was invited except me and one other guy. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 18, 2011 -> 12:52 PM) If you guys are in the same circles, and you alone didn't get an invite, it might mean something. It is hard to say that for sure, just because of the sheer numbers involved there. Weddings are f***ing expensive, and it could just be that you just happened to be #301 on a list of 300. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 18, 2011 -> 12:55 PM) I need to clear up one thing, there is a reason I didn't invite any of you aholes to my wedding. But Milk, it all depends on the circumstances. They could have forgot, there could be a reason (if you are the only one not invited in your circle of friends, it could very well mean something), or it could just be they only can invite X number of people and there were people that if all being equal they would have invited but just couldn't. I know with us, there were probably 10 or so people that we would have liked to invite, but we were already in excess of our count and given our budget we just weren't able to invite more. Plus as we invited 10 more, than there would be another small set of people that you'd think you needed to invite. Wedding invites are a pain in the ass, unless of course you have an unlimited budget, and even than I still imagine its a pain. Yes, I've thought of and heard all of those things, but those bold ones don't even seem like they're good excuses. It's like saying that this guy doesn't matter in both of those scenarios.
  14. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 18, 2011 -> 12:45 PM) They may have financial issues as well where they have to limit the number of guests. Say you know quite a lot of other people who are going? Or that you know they're not in any financial trouble?
  15. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 18, 2011 -> 12:45 PM) I am optimistic
  16. Am I wrong in assuming that, should someone not invite you to their wedding, you are considered more of an acquaintance than a friend?
  17. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 18, 2011 -> 12:38 PM) I think he's trying to say that we could beat them both games and then lose our next 2 as they win their next 2 to make it a wash. Ah, gotcha.
  18. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 18, 2011 -> 12:30 PM) Do we have to fall behind 20 games for people to realize that EVERY game from this point on is crucial? I think so, yes.
  19. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ May 18, 2011 -> 11:53 AM) Let me propose this - the importance of our supposedly key next two wins against CLE (were they to happen) would be seriously hampered by losing us our following two games. And CLE winning theirs. We're so far down we can't circle games quite yet. Doing so is only to keep us more interested or motivated. I've read this like five times, and I still have no idea what you're saying.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 18, 2011 -> 11:13 AM) Assloads of money? Plus Hamels has already won a title, acting as one of the driving forces behind it as the NLCS and WS MVP. He's got nothing to prove and if I were him, I'm taking the money. QUOTE (jasonxctf @ May 18, 2011 -> 11:46 AM) Trade Danks to Oakland, didn't they just lose a starter yesterday for the rest of the season? Could get some decent talent and go back to a 5 man rotation. Then go after him hard during Free Agency. You know who I bet they'd want? Humber.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 18, 2011 -> 07:48 AM) I think that's the problem. Complaining about the same things over and over again isn't really meaningful discussion either. At least I'm coming up with arguments for my stance. "There's plenty of time" is the weakest thing you can possibly retaliate with.
  22. I'm sure they will split the series, giving us nothing but questions and the vaguest of hope.
  23. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 18, 2011 -> 08:42 AM) That Norm McDonald show is pretty funny. Watched it for the first time last night and laughed out loud a few times. I love it, but I'm a big Norm Macdonald fan so that's not surprising. It's got all of the good aspects of his era as the Weekend Update host and more.
  24. With all of the competition, Konerko would have a very hard time getting in. Nobody on the Sox will get voted onto the team and with their terrible record, it's likely that only one player will be chosen. Again, that would make it hard for Konerko. Santos is the easy and clear choice at this point.
  25. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ May 17, 2011 -> 09:38 PM) I lol'd at Milkman's use of the Family Guy Emperor picture. *pistol wink*
