  1. She looks alright in that picture, so I'd be hitting on her if I were a coworker. You gotta imagine that someone with that disorder is DTF almost all the time.
  2. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ May 20, 2011 -> 04:02 PM) Frank hit one out in his second AB too. But at least the Sox won that game. First time and last time I've ever seen a "walk-off" suicide squeeze. And they were both off of........ You guessed it. JON GARLAND! I was at that game. It was one of the best ever.
  3. I've asked for this before, too. I couldn't find it anywhere. The only place I can recall ever seeing it was in ESPN's images of the century video. I used to have that on my computer, but lost it long ago.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 20, 2011 -> 03:25 PM) Wait, Peavy? Haha, I don't know how I mixed up Crede and Peavy.
  5. I don't understand it. That was non-alcoholic champagne.
  6. For what it's worth, Uribe and Iguchi were my favorite players from that year.
  7. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ May 20, 2011 -> 02:59 PM) Crede was still with the Sox in 06, 07 and 08. He just happened to go to a division rival that they play every year. They honored him when he made his first start as an opposing player. This is the first time Garland will make a start at US Cellular field as an opposing player. Same with Uribe. Yes, and as I said, that is the reason it is so awkward. It was cool to do it for Crede and Frank because they returned the following season to Comiskey. With these guys, it has been years. It's like, just let it go. The s*** was six years ago.
  8. I haven't watched any episodes from this season, but Spader seems like a guy that could work well on The Office as the boss.
  9. QUOTE (T R U @ May 20, 2011 -> 01:33 PM) Its already been suggested she catches an elbow drop at some point, so I think thats a fair punishment and nice commemorative.. The punishment fits the crime. I say go for it.
  10. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 20, 2011 -> 02:13 PM) Good old Soxtalk... if the thread says "Trade" it'll get at least 50 replies. You ever get rid of those tickets, by the way?
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 20, 2011 -> 02:17 PM) Please, just stop. I'm almost begging you before I get really, really unhappy. Take it easy, I'm sorry. That was seriously my intent with the post. I'm in no way trying to anger you.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 20, 2011 -> 02:07 PM) Dude, really, you can't just let it go, you needed the last word? I don't think that's specifically trying to get the last word in. I was attempting to defend myself and J4L against the accusations that "we must be removed" as though everyone thinks we're terrible posters. I honestly don't believe that to be the case, so I wanted it said. I didn't even mention the guy making the accusations, nor did I attempt to throw s*** back.
  13. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ May 20, 2011 -> 02:04 PM) Remember when Loaiza almost won the Cy Young? Did anyone see that coming? Point is, Humber is pitching arguably better than any of our starters right now and it'd be foolish to remove him. The odds he regresses are still ridiculously high, but until he actually starts to show signs of doing so you need to keep running him out there. Because he's currently giving the team a great chance to win almost eveyr time he takes the mound. Exactly. It'll likely end sooner or later, but you have to ride that hot hand.
  14. QUOTE (typewritermender @ May 20, 2011 -> 01:55 PM) Sorry, that's ridiculous. Humber is clearly our 6th starter. He was a fill-in for Peavy, who's back now, and pitching great (granted it's only 2 starts). Who else are we gonna relegate to the pen? Ejax? Danks? We shouldn't keep up a 6-man rotation...that's not allowing our best pitchers enough starts. And we shouldn't trade a good pitcher JUST so that a guy who's been dumped by a bunch of teams and happens to have had a few good starts can be in our rotation. It's always good to have a backup plan. Humber is our backup plan, not the anchor of our rotation. MAYBE if he had a perfect record with a few complete game shutouts. He hasn't been LIGHTS OUT. He's been GOOD. Certainly better than expected. But he's the odd man out. No question. I just have to disagree with you here, man.
  15. I realize that the thread was closed and the posts deleted for a reason, but I'd like to add what I was typing while it was shut down. I actually think J4L brings a lot to this board, and I'd venture to guess that a fair amount of posters respect his thoughts and what he argues. I'd like to think that people view me in a similar fashion. I definitely understand that it can get annoying. Trust me, sometimes I get tired of heard about Hudson, too
  16. QUOTE (Tex @ May 20, 2011 -> 01:43 PM) If it causes fans to forget 2006-today, it just might work . . . (see I peeked)
  17. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ May 20, 2011 -> 01:41 PM) I actually didn't notice that. But I still don't get that mindset. These were two players who were here for several seasons and played a big part in our World Series and this is the first time they are returning since leaving the organization. I think it is a classy gesture to give the fans a chance and for the organization to acknowledge them. They did the same thing with Crede and I don't remember seeing any people chastising that (I could be wrong, just going on memory). But this point has been made. For Crede, it was the very next season that he returned. With these guys, it has been years and they both spent more time with the team after 2005. Again, it's not like these guys are throwing a s***-fit because of this. They are just pointing out that it's kind of stupid, which I believe most people could agree it sort of is. It's coming off as a lame attempt to get people to come out and to remind them of 2005. Like I said, I have no problem with this (and I don't think Tex or J4L do either).
  18. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ May 20, 2011 -> 01:34 PM) You'll never please everybody (not a knock on either side of the argument), but if this brings in more people to the ballpark then Im all for it. Jon Garland and Juan Uribe aren't going to help draw many fans, I can pretty much guarantee that
  19. QUOTE (typewritermender @ May 20, 2011 -> 01:25 PM) Let's just try to dump Pierre+Teahen+Cash on someone for below average OF that can backup a Viciedo/Lilli platoon. I'd take almost anyone. Give them to Philli for Francisco or Mayberry. Just get them off our damn team and let's start the Tank Era already. Also keep all our starters. We should be using Humber in the pen anyway. Then if one of our starters go down we don't have to scramble for a fill-in. Though I WOULD love to see Sale get a spot start or two. Don't think that'll happen though. Yes, it's always a brilliant idea to relegate the guy who has been your best pitcher all year to the bullpen. Look, I get that people don't expect Humber to keep this up. I don't either. But we need to ride this hot hand for as long as we can in order to catch back up on this huge deficit. Anyone who would take Humber out of the rotation before he at least starts to show signs of slowing down is, quite frankly, a moron.
  20. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ May 20, 2011 -> 01:28 PM) I don't think it's strict at all. Coming in to the thread and deriding the gesture as pointless or stupid is in a way complaining about the fact that they're doing it. If you don't want to use the word complaining, at the very least it brings unnecessary negativity into what is a pretty standard and fun topic. Check out the subtitle of the thread.
  21. QUOTE (T R U @ May 20, 2011 -> 01:25 PM) Its her fault, I was literally in line with it ready to go and she was all like "Im hungry too lets just go to Dennys" But it is crazy how that happens literally hours before the Macho Man dies Well, I think your duty is clear. You have to get rid of this chick.
  22. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ May 20, 2011 -> 01:21 PM) Don't drink until your done with the toast either. Trust me on this. He's probably going to want to have a couple to loosen up. Maybe get a nice little buzz going to help with the awkwardness of speaking publicly.
  23. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ May 20, 2011 -> 01:20 PM) Ridiculous is right. Even the most mundane things people can't keep from finding something to b**** about it for. You have a pretty strict definition of complaining. He just said that it's stupid, which it is because it's 6 years later and they both played on the team since the title. I personally have no problem with it, and it seems that they don't either.
  24. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 20, 2011 -> 01:19 PM) Tex and J4L. And as I said, I don't see how anyone could have a problem with it so my comment is quite relevant. You're the one being ridiculous here. They're hardly complaining. It is a bit ridiculous to be celebrating these guys 6 six later, but I don't think either of those posters have said anything besides that.
  25. QUOTE (T R U @ May 20, 2011 -> 01:15 PM) You know what really sucks, me and my girlfriend were at Walmart last night around midnight and as we were leaving I got one of those big slim jims, but she told me to put it back and we would go to Dennys instead.. I shoulda just gotten the slim jim You killed him. Way to go, jerk!
