QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 24, 2011 -> 04:59 PM) You can't fault someone for making what is by all appearances a good move if it doesn't pan out. Like playing poker and getting beat even after making all of the right moves because some ass got lucky on the last card. Yes, you can. You can especially blame the person when he's made quite a few bad moves and signings in the recent past. -

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 24, 2011 -> 03:51 PM) Manny was a flyer, and we all knew that. I seem to remember the Dunn signing being overwhelmingly backed here. Funny now that most people seem to be forgetting that already. Who is forgetting it? Everyone is aware that it was backed. Just because it was backed by the fan base does not mean that Kenny gets away with it since it's turning out to be a bad move. -
QUOTE (G&T @ May 24, 2011 -> 03:16 PM) You shouldn't need a program. Check the Apple support forums, there should be instructions there. I have done it several times but I can't remember the steps. Ah, thanks. I was under the impression for a while that it was only computer->iPod. And that .gif is hilarious.

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 24, 2011 -> 02:44 PM) I'm more venting towards the general feeling around here than you specifically. I'd be fine with losing Ozzie at this point. I would hope that highly capable Asst GM is contributing to the decisions of the current regime rather than doing absolutely nothing because he's second fiddle. I'm ready for any change whatsoever. My birthday is coming in two days. I would love to have somebody fired as a gift from the organization. -

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 24, 2011 -> 01:12 PM) What you're doing is the equivalent of calling her every night and asking her "Why are you doing this to me? Why, why, why, why, why? Why can't you just love me? Please? Please?" And trust me, no one would berate you if you chose to not follow the team closely this year, given your obvious displeasure with the entire roster, the manager, the general manager, the owner, the ball boys, the catering staff, the custodial staff, the valet guys, the mid-office personnel, the back office personnel, the rest of the front office personnel not yet mentioned, the minor league development staff, the minor league hitting instructors, the minor league pitching instructors, our regional scouts, our international scouts, and our beer vendors. Well, I picture myself more as the friend who is trying to convince his buddy that he needs to break it off. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 24, 2011 -> 12:38 PM) I'd have more respect for a person who didn't subject themselves to "certian" failure. Hell after Nelson Cruz went yard last night, I turned the game off and worked on cleaning out my DVR. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 24, 2011 -> 12:39 PM) That's the definition of irony right there. So, you're saying that a fan should just stop watching or supporting a team because the team isn't doing well and/or the fan knows that they won't be doing well? -

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 24, 2011 -> 12:25 PM) 2005, and I get that, I really do. However, as I so eloquently stated in a thread about three weeks ago, my 5-year free pass expired and now I want people held accountable. That's the obvious reason, yes. It's the first one that any of us has ever seen. So, maybe it's like the first girlfriend/the first girl you nailed. You waited so long and someone finally came around and brought you to the promised land. You're so grateful and you'd do anything for her. Now it's years later and things are obviously not working out. You've both let yourselves go, and neither of you is even trying anymore. You are still nostalgic for the way things were, but it obviously isn't going to happen anymore. And even though you want to keep things going, you know the best thing to do is to move on. About right? -

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 24, 2011 -> 12:17 PM) Instant outrage at any post made without white and black pom-poms seems to be popular right now in the off-chance that the White Sox repeat their historic comeback of 2010... you know, when they still missed the playoffs by 6 games! Haha, exactly. I don't know why people fear change so much. This team under this management put together by this front office is not cutting it. I don't know why that is so hard to understand. Changes must be made. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 24, 2011 -> 12:13 PM) My point is that after so long, it just becomes looking for drama. If you really believe this team sucks this bad, and has for that long, and yet are still obsessing over every single little thing, that pretty much makes you the pessimistic version of a Cub fan. You know exactly what is going to supposedly happen, have zero expectations of it being good, and yet still waste your time with it. Because I'm a fan of the team. It's laughable that someone would take that stance, as I'd be berated to no end for not being a fan if I decided that I wasn't going to watch games anymore. It's a no-win situation. I guess I should just become an optimist, and then everyone will agree with me. -

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 24, 2011 -> 11:38 AM) This was posted in the Catch-All earlier this month, but it's so perfect that it should be seen by more people. February: Spring training just started. Give them some time to get in shape. March: How can you complain about the Sox when they haven't even had a real game yet? April: It's only a few games into the season. Give the team a chance to get going before you criticize. May: It's still early in the season. Wait until summer gets here to judge them. June: You can't really gauge a team until the all-star break, so give them a break. July: Who knows what will happen at the trade deadline. Wait until you see what they pick up before you complain. August: Who knows what will happen at the waiver deadline. Wait until you see what they pick up before you complain. September: Oh sure, it's easy to complain in hindsight. Where were you before the season began? October: The offseason hasn't begun yet. Wait and see who they sign this offseason. November: It is still early in the offseason. Why jump out and sign a bunch of overpriced free agents? You can't buy a championship you know! December: Give them until Soxfest at least to make any big moves. January: Maybe you can at least wait until spring training begins to b**** about the team! QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ May 24, 2011 -> 12:08 PM) You forgot about FIRE OZZIE FIRE WALKER FIRE COOP FIRE KW FIRE REINSDORF FIRE SOUTHPAW FIRE HAWK and so on and so on.., You people realize that the stuff in the original post was made in response to the attitude that is being taken in Chet and SS2k5's posts? So you aren't being clever in the least. It's actually quite the opposite. -

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 24, 2011 -> 12:07 PM) Milk is killin' me. lol. He's taken my spot from the offseason. Him and Felix are my two favorite posters. I've been wanting a rebuild since 2007. And since then, they have shown me nothing that has changed my mind. -
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 24, 2011 -> 11:51 AM) Some people don't have unlimited patience, I think is what you mean. Do I want Gordon traded? Um, yeah if you can get something worthwhile for him. Chances are you can't. I sadly feel that he has no chance to get as good as I thought he was going to be, because I thought he'd be really f***ing good... .300 with 20 homers and an obp between .370/.390. That just ain't happening. No, your impatience is prudent. I was saying that some people have way too much patience. A guy could play for ten years and never live up to his potential, but someone would say that you can't accurately judge someone until they've had 11 full seasons. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ May 24, 2011 -> 11:59 AM) I just hope he can keep it up. Beckham seems to really get down on himself when he's slumping. His body language is terrible. Jeez, we have a lot of soft guys on this team.

And your point? The b****ing seems warranted given the fact that the team continues to find itself doing the same things year after year. -
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 24, 2011 -> 11:45 AM) Beckham has tons of talent and basically is still learning to hit at the Mjaor League level since he did not have much time in the minors. Amazing how we have folks clamoring for his trade. I can't recall too many people saying to trade him. At this point, he's had parts of three seasons in the majors (a total of about two full seasons). He's not shown very much improvement or consistency over that span. Some people just have unlimited patience.

QUOTE (daa84 @ May 24, 2011 -> 11:41 AM) excellent post we are not in any position to rebuild and contend anytime soon. If we try to rebuild, it certainly isn't going to be one of those quick rebuilds where we are back in 2 years. I'm fine with it. This current rut is not fixing itself. The whole thing needs to be torn down and built back up. I'm willing to watch a s***ty team rebuild. I'm not willing to watch a slightly less s***ty team refuse to rebuild. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 24, 2011 -> 11:28 AM) Hopefully JFP does it again tonight and we can go back to thinking about winning every series. I still don't think it's going to matter. It'll just prolong the inevitable when, down the line in August or September, they crap all over themselves again and fail to make the playoffs. It's the same thing every year with this team. Start off slowly, get hot, end slowly. They are usually just good enough to remain in the race long enough to keep people's attention, but just bad enough to miss the playoffs the vast majority of the time. Then we have only a mediocre draft pick, we sign second-rate talent (and when we get first-rate talent, they somehow still flop), and continue the same process anew. -
Realistic Adam Dunn expectations
Milkman delivers replied to DOWNTOWN PANTHER's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ May 24, 2011 -> 11:07 AM) My expectations for Dunn were large, but essentally consistent with his career numbers. I agree he looks to have added some pounds, but I am not ready to attribute his suckitude to being "fat and happy" with his contract. If anything, I suspect it might be the opposite, with him putting too much pressure on himself to justifty the contract, something the missed time due to injury may have only compounded. I keep thinking back to Albert Belle, who was the last huge bat the Sox acquired in free agency. He sucked relentlessly in his first half-season here, although so far Dunn has been even worse. Of course, Belle turned it around in the second half, and he went on to have one of the best offensive seasons in franchise history the next year. Dunn will hit here. I don't know whether he will hit enough or turn it around in time to help this team do anything this year, but I'm pretty confident that he will come close to his career averages once he finally relaxes and adjusts to a new team, new league, new position, etc. Granted, he's shown absolutely nothing to warrant this faith and I don't really know how his bat speed compares to before, but I have a hard time believing that his physical skills substantially deteriorated over the winter, or because of a few added pounds. Perhaps, like Belle, he'll have a huge year in his second season with the Sox. Unfortunately for us, that huge offensive year might come during a season where the Sox aren't even competing. Maybe Adam Dunn is an offensive version of Javier Vazquez. He could be just a born loser, a guy who can't cut it on a competitive team or with any expectations on his shoulders. -

I'm getting tired of caring about underachievement, to be honest. I'm craving a rebuild more and more with each passing day. -
OK, so I recently deleted a folder of songs from my computer on accident. They're gone for good, so don't even worry about restoring them. I used a program a few years ago when my computer crashed to take the songs from my iPod and put them back on the computer. I want to do that again, so that I don't have to go and download every single song I lost. My question is this. Are there any free programs like this? The one I used made me sign up for a one-year subscription for 30 bucks. That time frame has passed and I would rather not have to pay.
