Sox to recognize two studs in Dodger series
Milkman delivers replied to greg775's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 20, 2011 -> 12:06 PM) How could anyone have a problem with this? It's two key parts of our World Series team who make their first trip back to the Cell since 05. I think it's great. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ May 20, 2011 -> 12:14 PM) Duh, complaining is more fun. Who is complaining? The closest thing to a complaint that I saw was Tex, and he already came around to the idea. This site is ridiculous sometimes. Even when there are no complaints, people act like there are. -

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 20, 2011 -> 12:35 PM) Damn shame. If WWE hasnt already put him in there, he needs to be in the HOF immediately He needs to have a show dedicated to him. I'm sure it won't happen for a couple of reasons: 1.) I don't think they dedicate entire shows anymore due to Benoit 2.) I'm pretty sure Vince hated him 3.) He wasn't working for WWE at the time But if any guy deserves it, he does. And I'd tune in from start to finish. -

Easily one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. -
QUOTE (T R U @ May 20, 2011 -> 02:25 AM) thank you Where is milkman to explain how this terrible White Sox team is 4-1 against the Cleveland juggernaut?? We do usually play well against good teams. It's the crappy teams we could never beat.

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 20, 2011 -> 01:36 AM) Fine, Milk. You go ahead and constantly b**** and moan whether we win or we lose. I could give a s*** if you want to make yourself miserable. In the meantime, I'm not going to feel any pity when you are constantly derided for your piss poor attitude. LOL, OK. It's not bothering me, so I don't need any pity.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 20, 2011 -> 09:40 AM) I believe you are the oldest if memory serves. My boy Rooftop Shots is up there as well. I believe he is the youngest. For a while, I remember Willie (along with Cubssuck1) was the youngest back in the day. I was 17 when I started posting here and wasn't even close to the youngest at the time. (few guys were 14-15) Those were the good ol' days. I think that guy CryptVill is really, really young.

QUOTE (Tex @ May 20, 2011 -> 06:12 AM) I use the ignore function but not because someone is a poor poster, it is usually good posters who we've happened to be on opposite sides of a couple threads and I'd rather allow things to die down. Currently I have Milkman on ignore, but "peek" at a few of his posts in some threads, just not in the 'buster. Now a feature I would really like is a force ignore where I could have some people ignore my posts. Score one for the Milkman! I actually don't post in the Filibuster for this exact reason. If I seem to get angry at sports, you should see how bad I get with politics. I just try to take a "f*** it" stance on everything political now. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 20, 2011 -> 09:39 AM) And the thread starter would have disappeared. They're like the Stasi or Gestapo over there. I've never once attempted to go over there, so I only have others' opinions to base this off of.

I just want to point out that today is May 19th. Somewhere in the world, Kane is angry for some stupid reason. -
Maybe we are turning things around. f***ing hope, it was so much simpler when I was sure they were done.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ May 19, 2011 -> 02:37 PM) In two weeks though, it might make sense. Here's why: 1. We'll either continue playing well, or dig ourselves into a virtually insurmountable hole in the division, so we'll know if we need to add or subtract. 2. The pitching surplus cannot continue, it's not good for anyone long term, and we have good trade candidates that are becoming free agents. EJax almost definitely goes, because Buerhle has little value and full NTC. You can't trade Danks now because he still has another year of control and you're already going to lose 1 - 2 SPs to free agency this year, and you have to try to contend for at least one more year with the current contractual situation. Other things: You do NOT trade Beckham. He's still way too young to be a bust and you wouldn't get much in return. Even if he doesn't figure it out, you have a plus defender with a streaky bat at a light-hitting position for league minimum. Yankees would definitely laugh at unloading Montero, since it looks like Posada is done. However, they may unload Romine, especially if they plan on retaining Martin. Don't forget that Cervelli is an excellent backup. That's exactly why you would trade Danks. Teams would give up more for him because he's our best pitcher and they would control him for another year. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 19, 2011 -> 03:14 PM) I only gave you a hard time about the chances of some random injury, which I think Peavy is no more at risk of than anyone else. But specific to his injury is something else - we need to see that he's fully normal from that. I actually wasn't referring to you.

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ May 19, 2011 -> 02:16 PM) But it worked fine 30 minutes ago??? There is a switch for the fan and a switch for the light. They were independent, now one switch turns both on and the other does nothing. That is weird. I'd have to go with knight, then.
-
How about the youngest? Let's figure that one out, too. I have a baby penis, if that counts. (^That can be taken several ways)(

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ May 19, 2011 -> 02:08 PM) Can anybody explain this? My bathroom light fixture has a fan in it, on the wall there is a separate switch for the fan and light. The bulb burned out so I replaced it with one of the corkscrew bulbs. Now, the switch that used to turn on the light does nothing, and the switch that turned the fan on turns on the fan and the light. I'm having a hard time picturing exactly what you mean, but is there a chance that one of the switches is like a master one? I mean, in my house there are two switches to turn on the light for the basement stairs. One is at the top and the other is in the basement. The one in the basement won't turn the light on unless the switch upstairs is already on. I assume you already fiddled with it, but maybe it's similar?

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 19, 2011 -> 11:28 AM) I don't think this team should make any trades, at least not right now. The two biggest weak points I see are T-Pain and Pierre. In both cases, we have good in-house options in the minors to replace them. If you can get something for them in trade, great. If not, just let them go. I really do think Beckham and Rios will turn it around. The 6 pitchers is a great asset, but until Peavy pitches a little longer and we know he's really back to full strength, I'd hold onto them. If the team is in contention at deadline time, then you can look at trading pitching for something of need (whatever that is at that point). This is exactly what I was going to say. It's a good thing you said it first, because I would have probably gotten flak for being such a downer by pointing it out.

QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ May 19, 2011 -> 11:50 AM) It was also interesting that he mentioned a date. One would think that if several of the players he's eye-balling don't improve by then changes would be made. It's going to take KW flat out releasing guys, because you know Ozzie isn't going to bench his favorites. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ May 19, 2011 -> 11:51 AM) The 3-run homerun and excellent defense the other night sealed his fate. How dare he! He already had his month to prove himself. He didn't do it in that time frame, so he'll likely never get out of Ozzie's doghouse. I imagine that if Beckham hadn't come up and produced immediately a few years ago, he'd be on another team right now. Perhaps that wouldn't be such a bad thing
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ May 19, 2011 -> 01:14 PM) No, it's not that part at all...it's the "if his elbow pops then so be it..." part...even though it was a response to Milk, who of course had to bring up injury concerns like 8 minutes after the guy pitches a 3 hit shutout. Nothing wrong with you guys having your little pity parties all the time...but why do you need to go into the mainstream threads and post some evil s*** like that even when we have things going our way? When things are finally starting to look like they are turning around? You rip on them if they lose, you say blow up the team if they lose these games....so they go out and win the darn game and you guys are immediately in the thread spreading your doom and gloom there too. You guys are just thriving on the negativity at this point, it seems. You know what you should do? Cry about it.
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ May 19, 2011 -> 11:14 AM) Seriously, wtf is this? You both have passed the point of being the "realistic" fans and entered the zone of actually cheering against good things happening to this team. Go ahead and do that, but I can't wait to see all the s*** you continue to catch for it. The guy has been hurt constantly as a White Sox player. Fact.
-
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 19, 2011 -> 10:16 AM) No big deal, that's why it was just a friendly warning. I wasn't on here last night to respond, others may not have been either. Its fine to talk about Ignoring features, but getting into saying "I ignore these people" really could come off as insulting. I personally wouldn't care, but others might. I guess I'm just saying... use caution. Sounds good. I wouldn't be insulted either. In fact, I kind of want to know.
-
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ May 19, 2011 -> 09:54 AM) He hurt his ankle running the bases (right?) and missed time because he took a liner off the forearm. It's not as if he's had chronic elbow/shoulder problems to my knowledge. Yes, he's been injury prone but for the most part it's been freak injuries unrelated to each other. Like Mark Prior?
-
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 19, 2011 -> 09:24 AM) Just a little warning here... let's be careful to avoid telling the world which specific posters you have on Ignore. Might be interpereted as insulting. That's why I asked last night if it was fine to do it. Nobody said it wasn't, so I took that as the go-ahead.
-
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 19, 2011 -> 07:59 AM) That was a warning to certain players on the team, even though it looks like just a "no comment". Rookies beware! While on the other hand, I'm sure the veterans rightfully see this as an empty threat.
-
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 19, 2011 -> 09:34 AM) The chances of Peavy having his elbow blow out is no more or less than any other pitcher. The guy has proven to be prone to injury, so I'd say his chances of blowing out his elbow are higher than most guys. And like J4L said, I was just using the elbow as an example.

Teahen on DL, McPherson recalled from AAA
Milkman delivers replied to flavum's topic in Pale Hose Talk
We are almost through May, and Adam Dunn has 4 homers. For all of that [correct] talk about him being the most consistent player in baseball over the last 8-10 years, it looks like we'll be the lucky recipients of the season that breaks that trend. I don't see him hitting 40 this year anymore. That's just our luck, it seems. QUOTE (since56 @ May 19, 2011 -> 08:31 AM) I agree with this. Look at things objectively and say the White Sox are not doing so good on an issue or simply say they suck, if they do, and you get labled a quitter, loser, bangwadon jumper, etc. I have been a White Sox fan my whole life and have lived on the south side and the south suburbs my whole life. My loyalty is beyond question, but not seeing things as they are doesn't make you a traitor it makes you a Cubs fan. -
QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ May 19, 2011 -> 08:41 AM) I came into this thread to see if there was an answer but I don't see any posts at all? Nicely played QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 19, 2011 -> 03:06 AM) Yeah, let's do it. I ignore 0 people. My two are greg and caulfield. With caulfield, it's entirely about average length of posts. He seems like an intelligent guy, but his posts are basically a huge run-on sentence. There doesn't seem to be much order to them and they just go on and on. I will admit that I will occasionally un-hide his posts if a thread is interesting enough that I want to get everyone's feedback in it. I don't think greg even needs an explanation.
-
QUOTE (T R U @ May 19, 2011 -> 03:02 AM) The ignore thing is dumb anyways, have you ever tinkered with it? You can still see that the person posted something, you just cant read it.. and if you wanted to read it you can just click reveal or something and see it.. It would be a lot better if it just made whatever they said invisible, and you couldn't see anything from them.. And if I had to guess, ide say greg is prolly ignored by the most people.. although sometimes his nonsensical rants are entertaining I completely agree with this.
