  1. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 15, 2006 -> 12:33 PM) Hopefully Cotts will come around before the end of the year. If he does find some sort of groove again...then I don't know how anyone's going to score on our bullpen. The additions KW has made to it this year are just beautiful. Gee, thanks. ::blushes::
  2. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 15, 2006 -> 12:20 PM) He sucks. They all suck. They all should just stop playing. Division over. No playoffs. Thome sucks, can't hit for average. Konerko sucks. All bullpen guys suck. Suck. Suck. Suck. Suck. Suck. Ozzie sucks. Suck. Suck. Suck. *sigh* Well, thanks for the snarky response to my legitimate question, Mr. Admin. Anyone know the answer to the actual question?
  3. How would Garland have to pitch the rest of the year to lower his ERA to 4.50?
  4. I'm liking how Ozzie recently has played only 1 sub per game. That's the way he should be doing it. Get most of the guys a rest about once a week, and get each sub in there every couple of days and as defensive replacements late in the game.
  5. I don't know why it wouldn't count. I understand that it would be showboating and all, but catching it in your hat or pocket or whatever should still be a catch.
  6. QUOTE(whitesoxin @ Aug 15, 2006 -> 12:17 AM) Frank Thomas was never on steroids. Ever. SEC Tight Ends usually do not need to get stronger. Aaron Rowand was never on steroids either. Don't even suspect it. Pretty much all of his numbers suffered in 2005. His homers were almost cut in half (while having more at-bats in 2005 than he did in 2004). There's reason to suspect something.
  7. QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Aug 15, 2006 -> 09:19 AM) Caught (kinda) 2 batting practice balls. One was in the bleachers at Wrigley, when the immortal Chuck Carr of the Marlins simply tossed one up there for us. The other was my one and only game at Camden Yards in Baltimore. We were driving to the game from my sisters place by Philly, and during the car ride, my brother-in-law asked what the ruling is if a player catches a flyball in his hat...and if anybody has ever tried. Of course, none of us knew, but that was besides the point. So we get to the game, and we are watching the DRays take batting practice while standing behind that big scoreboard/wall in right field, and sure enough, Ben Grieve drives one our way. And as I was standing directly underneath it, my dumbass brother-in-law sticks his hat out and snatches the ball. Fortunately for me, the ball knocked his hat out of his hand but miraculously stayed in the hat. I picked the ball out of the hat and the rest is history. Kind of a cheap way to score a baseball, but whatever. The question still remains...is there a rule regarding catching a fly ball in your hat? My friend tried to convince us that it would be a ground-rule triple, which I'm pretty sure is bulls***. I'm sure it would be an out. You can catch a ball bare-handed, and it's still an out. So, I don't see why using your hat would be anything but that.
  8. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Aug 14, 2006 -> 10:26 PM) It's like night and day when you look at Brian now compared to April and May. His at-bats are mostly all quality now. He's actually been hitting the ball a lot better than even his .300 average since July 1 would suggest. He had a stetch for a while where he was hitting ropes all over the place. They were just right at people. I agree with you about his power. He's easily capable of hitting atleast 20 home runs. Combine that with his speed and breath-taking defense out in center, it won't be long before he's considered all-star caliber, IMO. I think you might be getting a little too into his defense.
  9. Ozuna is hitting a granny right here. That was close enough.
  10. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 14, 2006 -> 09:02 PM) Yeah, pretty boring out here. I come out here couple times a year for work. At least there's no sales tax so I'll typically do a little shopping. The sales tax thing is awesome. I buy everything there when I'm at school.
  11. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 14, 2006 -> 08:59 PM) No problem. I'm out here in New Hampshire watching on TV. NH is the most boring state I've ever been to. Two of my friends are from there, and all we do at their places is look for moose and possibly shoot guns. The second part is fun, but not when that's all there is to do.
  12. QUOTE(quickman @ Aug 14, 2006 -> 06:23 PM) I am not picking on you but this is funny. Most guys on this site want tickets for free. (not you) its kind of funny seeing put your money where your mouth is when 75% of this board need to ask Daddy for money to go to the game. For your information, I get my mom to ask for the money from my dad for me. So, your logic is flawed.
  13. Great way to start off this series. The pitching continues to feed off of each other. Thank you, Contreras.
  14. QUOTE(rowand @ Aug 14, 2006 -> 01:03 PM) Im back after a week long bullshaat suspension. Here ya go negative sox fans, remember about 10 days ago when I posted this? Now maybe you believe in your team. I was also terribly disapointed when I went to Sunday's game. I sat on the aisle (left field/3rd base line) and countless fans walked right past my view during pitches and at bats. Obviously a real baseball fan knows you can only go down the ailse if it is in between: (1) batters (2) during a pitching change (3) innings Do we really want these type of fans at the park? Sure they are buying tickets and supporting the team, but come on, I couldn't even watch the game half the time. Where are the ushers stopping this? How do I put this? Oh yeah... HELL MOTHERf***ING YEAH!
  15. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Aug 14, 2006 -> 11:43 AM) Here's Crawford's deal: Set to make 4 Mil in 2007 5.25 Mil in 2008 Team Option for 2009 worth 8.25 Mil with a 2.5 million buyout So, considering we get someone to take on Garcia's contract, we'd have $6 million there, and I doubt Crede gets a raise of that much in one offseason.
  16. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Aug 14, 2006 -> 11:39 AM) I just wonder how much the Sox are willing to spend on a new LF or SS when Uribe and Pods are fairly cheap. Crede is due a raise and all the escalating contracts will go up next year, so it will be interesting to see how this all plays out. Well, trading any one of our starters would free up about $10 million, depending on whether or not the other team takes on the whole contract. I'm not sure exactly how much Crawford makes, and I know Crede won't be getting a ridiculous amount of money. So, I doubt the payroll would have to increase that much.
  17. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 14, 2006 -> 11:31 AM) You had me until Sweeney.....between Dye and Thome's age (Dye will be a good hitter for another several years, but his play in RF is making me think he'll end up taking Thome's spot at DH), I think letting Sweeney go wouldn't be such a smart idea. Sweeney is the last guy I want to get rid of, but I was just throwing that out there.
  18. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 14, 2006 -> 11:25 AM) Not a bad idea, however I don't know if we could get enough for Freddy to offset the price we'd give up for Crawford, and plus our system is already looking depleted in depth at the moment. Well, we're already locked up at most positions for a while. Getting Crawford would make Fields obsolete, especially since we have rights to Crede through 2008. Broadway doesn't seem to have a place on this team for a while since the starters are locked up through 2007. And even though most people don't want to see him go, Sweeney might be useless to us, too, if we give Dye an extension. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Aug 14, 2006 -> 11:25 AM) The Angels tried to get Crawford this year and were told that they'd need to give up Ervin Santana and Brandon Wood. We'd have to give up more than one prospect. It'd probably cost 2 of our best prospects plus B-Mac. Like I said, it'd cost us at least one of our top prospects. We'd then add on the prospects we get for Garcia and maybe even Pods.
  19. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 14, 2006 -> 11:20 AM) My co worker was at yesterday's game and said Anderson threw a ball into the CF stands and that a Tiger's fan caught it and threw it back at BA, barely missing him. I guess a few Sox fans pounded this guy until security arrived and kicked him out. Anyone see this? There's no justice like angry-mob justice.
  20. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 14, 2006 -> 11:15 AM) All fair points. They also have a ton of position prospects at every position in their system, however that means it's going to take a steep price of young pitching to get him. I think their FO is a little more trade-friendly than they were last year with that douchebag GM they had. Sure, it's going to be a steep price, but it'd be for a premier LF and leadoff hitter in baseball who's only getting better. It'd take at least one of our best prospects, but hopefully we'd get some good prospects in return for Freddy. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Aug 14, 2006 -> 11:21 AM) Lugo would be a nice pickup although I think he's going to get 8 millin dollars a year and he might not be worth that for long. Uribe is actually a worse player than cesar Izturis so batting him 1 or 2 would be suicide in the standings. As far as locking up Crede goes, Boras doesn't do that. For anyone. He will test FA. Next year's leadoff hitter is not on this team yet in my opinion I'd rather have the s***ty offense of Uribe than the s***ty defense of Lugo.
  21. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 14, 2006 -> 11:10 AM) I don't know why Crawford would be available, isn't he signed at a fair contract for a player of his calibur through like 2010? The Devil Rays could move him considering they have about 14 OFers on the team or ready to be promoted. We could trade some of our own prospects with prospects we acquire for Garcia, and hopefully there you have it.
  22. QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ Aug 14, 2006 -> 11:09 AM) Will he be a free agent? No.
  23. QUOTE(longshot7 @ Aug 14, 2006 -> 10:25 AM) Let Pods go and sign Carlos Lee. Rectify the mistake that we made two years ago. I don't know why people keep saying this. Carlos Lee will never ever play for the White Sox again.
  24. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 14, 2006 -> 10:26 AM) Because of the capacity, that is going to be nearly impossible to get. Not necessarily. The capacity is 39,000 and something, plus there are the SRO tickets. With a chase for the playoffs coming, I can see it happening.
  25. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 08:31 PM) Gage would too.
