  1. QUOTE(rangercal @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 03:44 PM) it will be very interesting to say the least. Let's send Papelbon back to eath next inning. Didn't he face all of them yesterday? They looked terrible then, not one of them could hit a straight fastball down the plate. I sure hope they look better today.
  2. I think Boston's defense is just as good as ours overall. And it looks like we'll get to see this year's Cy Young award winner.
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 03:29 PM) I think their lineup is much deeper and patient. Besides that, I think these teams are similar. The Red Sox are playing damn good right now though. It's too bad that Ozzie's been severely out-managed this series. When you're slumping, sometimes you need your manager to pull the right buttons and propel you. The thing is, we've been claiming to be better than the Tigers this entire year, despite having a worse record than them. Now the Red Sox come into our city and absolutely molest us. They've looked better than us in any way you can come up with. So despite having a better record than them (much like the Tigers to us), they seem like a better team.
  4. Are the Red Sox a better team than us? They have at least looked better than us in every possible way this series.
  5. The "crappy" Red Sox pen has had little trouble with the White Sox this series.
  6. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 03:19 PM) Use it, AJ. It's not working today, it seems. It's like it's actually working in reverse.
  7. I actually dreamed that Widger was DFA'd last night.
  8. Well, that's just about the 40th blown opportunity this series. I think they're just taking off early for the all-star break. Kind of like a 3-day weekend for any of us.
  9. Does Konerko think he's in the homerun derby tomorrow?
  10. Man, Konerko is f***ing clutch recently.
  11. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 03:00 PM) Can someone explain to me what exactly he is good at? A fast, soft swinging guy who can't field, can' bunt, can't hit for average, and gets picked off first more than a blind squirrel. Way to go Thome...3-2 now Ha, I just said basically the same exact thing. He really isn't good at anything and doesn't deserve to be a starter anymore.
  12. Does everyone agree now that Pods is completely useless in every single way possible? He cannot field, has a pussy arm, can't hit, can't bunt, can't steal.
  13. Boston's defense is really good.
  14. Anderson is very hot at this point.
  15. Is anyone starting to think that last year's pitching may have been a fluke? That thought never crossed my mind until a few minutes ago. But, perhaps we just got a lot of fluke seasons out of a few key guys?
  16. Schilling is really shoving it up our asses today, eh?
  17. That game thread was closed faster than any I have ever seen. Was the third out even recorded before it was moved? I guess people don't want to discuss how our starters are going to flip that magic switch in the second half of the season that will prevent them from having ERA's near 5.
  18. Well, I can honestly say I have no clue why Papelbon is so good. His s*** looks pretty mediocre, and we're just missing fastballs down the plate.
  19. QUOTE(Misplaced_Sox @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 04:10 PM) whats up with Thome's bat speed? Papelbon throws 112 mph.
  20. I guess Thome can't hit fastballs?
  21. Good work by one of our few reliable pitchers anymore. If the Sox can come back in this game, hell if they can even get 2 runs, this will be the best comeback of the year by far.
  22. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 03:59 PM) I second that, let Kenny Rogers pitch the whole game. He won't. Don't worry. He may be good, but nobody is as good as he's pitched so far. We're pretty deep into the season. I don't expect him to fall off magically just like the Tigers. Same way I don't expect the best 5-man rotation in baseball history to completely turn everything around over night.
  23. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 03:58 PM) No Heads, I'm not going all Chicken Little either...I'm still here, watching, and not annoiting Papelbon as Cy Young already for getting Gooch to popout. Looked rather ordinary to me, this team needs a few days off, I'd rather our pitchers not throw at all in the All-Star game. Haha, I'm not annointing him the Cy Young because he got Iguchi out. But thanks for making it seem like I did. I'm calling him the front runner for the Cy Young because he's unhittable. The numbers don't lie.
