QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 10, 2006 -> 12:31 PM) Why would SF sell their best pitcher while still in the NL west race? Maybe they figure they'll just get destroyed in the first round of the playoffs whatever team they play.

QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Jul 10, 2006 -> 10:00 AM) Finally saw Munich last night, boy was that overrated. The first 45 minutes or hour were great, but then it just sort of stalled and dragged on. Pay for information, set up hit, boom, repeat. Boring. Very anticlimactic too. I also saw PotC on Friday. I'd agree with the review above: good, enjoyable movie that wasn't quite as good as the first. The ending was obviously just an intermission in the story with basically nothing resolved (think LotR). I disagree. The end showed that the cycle of violence led all involved to nothing good. They were all either dead or fearing that they soon would be dead. No more sense of patriotism for Bana, just a final realization that he had done nothing good by basically being a terrorist himself. And then they showed the WTC at the end to show how the violence had spread far enough to affect us.

Official HR Derby Thread
I figured since we have one of our own representing us this year, we ought to have a thread in PHT to discuss it. I really think Dye is gonna take this thing home.

Has anyone ever seen someone get headbutted in the chest before? I've never seen anything but a headbutt to the head. Even if it wasn't a flop, how the hell do you react when someone headbutts you in the chest? I would be stunned and confused if I wasn't writhing in pain on the ground.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 10:43 PM) Well there is a play you don't see every day: Roy Oswalt doubles in the 11th inning, yet missed the base according to the ump(very hard to tell if he hit it on the replay) and when the Cardinals appealed he was called out. The Astros' first base coach gave it away. I'm almost positive he's the only reason the ump assumed he didn't touch the base.

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Jul 10, 2006 -> 09:54 AM) Yes, a player is a tool for opting not to play in an exhibition game when he's been playing on a sore knee all season. Despite being a Red Sox fan, you should be able to admit that Manny is a tool because Manny is a tool.

Tom Gordon on the block?
I'd definitely like to have Gordon. He'd completely solidify our bullpen, making in one of the best around. With a trade like this, we might not even have to upgrade the rotation (which probably wouldn't happen anyway) because our bullpen would be so lights out. But if we're sending them Fields, I'd want something else in return, possibly some salary relief. And I wonder if Flash would take a demotion to set-up man again?

I want to get excited when I read about rumors like this, but after last year, I just can't do it. If it happens, it happens. I'll trust KW to do the right thing for the team.

2006 White Sox Catch-All Thread
QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jul 10, 2006 -> 08:21 AM) Dye deserves the Start. He is leading all MLB outfielders in almost every major offensive catagory. That also gives Ozzie three RFs for the game. Ichiro can play CF easily, do who goes to LF? Probably Dye because Vlad was voted in. So to avoid any kind of minor controversy, it might end up being that way. But if it were my choice, I'd put Dye in RF.

White Sox may be in trouble
QUOTE(greg775 @ Jul 10, 2006 -> 12:38 AM) Relax our rotation is awesome. Just because you keep saying that, doesn't make it true. They're proving day in and day out that they are not awesome.

I can't believe how bad this game is. If we lose it, it may be the worst game I've ever sat through. This is heads and shoulders above any other game I've said was the worst ever, if we lose.

If we can't score off of Seanez, we might as well shoot ourselves in the face.
