  1. QUOTE(iamshack @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 03:45 PM) I mean I think Rob Mackowiak was a mistake. In my view, he is pretty much the exact same player as Ross Gload, except the Pirates sucked so they allowed Rob to play more positions than we allowed Ross to play. I would have rather dealt Damaso (since apparently we couldn't keep him here because of his attitude) for something else, rather than for a clone of Gload. To be honest with you, I cringe everytime Rob is in the lineup instead of Brian. He's batting .309 with a .396 OBP...he provides a great back up for LF/RF and almost the entire IF. He just isn't a CF, although Ozzie keeps putting him there. Ross Gload couldn't play LF or RF decently if his life depended on it, and he certainly couldn't even attempt to play 3B or 2B. What in the hell kind of comparison is that? Does anyone else feel the same as this guy? I think Rob has been a great addition to the club. I honestly can't see why anyone would think otherwise, unless they're saying so because Ozzie is playing him out of place.
  2. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 03:28 PM) you said "a couple things" then you went and listed three. If you're gonna correct someone shouldn't you try to be accurate yourself? Ha, I thought about changing it when I decided to say three things, but I'm too lazy to go back and chance "couple" to "few."
  3. I have a question. I've heard a lot on this board about Ryan Wagner and how great he is. Why, exactly, was he not in the Reds' bullpen? Is he still just a prospect with a high ceiling? Or was he already in the majors and fell out of favor with the management?

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 03:22 PM) Going by the name, is he the guy from The Poseiden Adventure and the guy who gets caught on the clock tower in The Longest Day? Oh, and Pete's Dragon? After looking it up, yes, it is him. Sad...RIP Red.

  6. QUOTE(Whitewashed in @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 03:17 PM) Yeah this makes no sense. Once again, it makes perfect sense for the Nationals. What does one do when you're handed an opportunity to absolutely take advantage of another team in a trade? You do it.
  7. Hold on. Everyone take a step back and ask yourself, "Do I really care?" Honestly, the answer should be a resounding "no." How much different would your life, or anything, be if they had won? Not at all. QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 03:14 PM) This is rediculous. Granted the Steelers were a good team, and it was great they did it from the sixth seed...But there is no way this shouldnt of went to the Sox. They lead wire to wire. Every single analyst doubts them all year. They didnt have one 20 game winner or any real superstars. Get chased by the severely overacheiving Indians for the whole second half and manage to hold them off and finish them off themselves by sweeping them to end the season. Theyre picked to lose every series in the post season. Handily sweep the defending world champs.Lose one close game in the ALCS and never look back. 4 complete games, walk off home runs from Podesednik and Gload. Kongs slam. What a ride. ESPN can have that award. There will never be another season or team like last years World Champion White Sox. A couple things. First, I don't think Gload was even on the postseason roster. Second, it wasn't a walkoff because it was on the road. And lastly, it was Blum.
  8. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 03:02 PM) this trade makes zero sense. For the Reds. But for the Nationals, it makes a s***load of sense.
  9. I don't know who Bray, Harris, and Thompson are. Are any of them relievers? The Reds desperately need bullpen help, and all I know of there is Majewski. Lopez to Clayton? Eww, I wouldn't want any part of that transition.
  10. QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 02:16 PM) Saw this in the paper today, cant believe I missed it. Ross Greenburg, president of HBO Sports, says the "Cubs boast some of the most dedicated fans in all of sports" :puke Im about to send him an email telling him to save HBO some money, because everyone and their mother has done some type of "special" regarding that joke of a franchise. He says their network is doing it in order to "explore this deep connection" and to bring to light some "of the lesser known stories". I bet he doesn't give 2 s***s what you think. They do specials on frachises like the Cubs because people will watch! The White Sox simply do not attract enough attention from a nation-wide audience to warrant a special like this. This guy's f***ing job is to get more viewers to tune into his station. His job isn't to be "fair" with whom he decides to cover. What the f*** is so hard to understand about this? And why are you so obsessed with this topic?
  11. We lost the first game of the series, I think it was. Duque gave up something like a 2-run homer in the first to A-Rod, and we ended up losing 2-1.
  12. QUOTE(Goldmember @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 12:16 PM) watched underworld evolution and firewall yesterday. both were alright. would like firewall better if it weren't cut from the typical harrison ford movie mold.... What? You mean quiet and unassuming old man with a happy family gets f***ed with by random-accented villain and said old main turns into ass-kicking machine that takes out ~10-20 bad guys by himself?
  13. I don't know if anyone's forgetting exactly how streaky Thome is in the homer category. He's due for one of those ridiculous streaks any day now.
  14. QUOTE(iamshack @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 10:54 AM) All I hear are negative things about this guy from O's fans. As much as I think Rob Mackowiak was a mistake, I would rather have him out there than Matos. What do you mean?
  15. This exact injury may not be connected to steroids, but Gagne was clearly on steroids.
  16. I hope he can. I thought he'd be able to before the season started. Just gotta hope for health.
  17. I didn't realize Lane was having such a bad year. I really liked what I saw from him the WS.
  18. Did you all enjoy the All-David Wright Game? They couldn't have blown him more that game if they tried. I believe they interviewed him, his relatives, or other players (who were asked about him) just about every single inning, along with talking about him every half inning.
  19. QUOTE(SABR Sox @ Jul 11, 2006 -> 04:32 PM) And that would mean what? Decrease in production? Doubtful. We'll just have to see if anything happens. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 11, 2006 -> 10:07 AM) First off, I was joking about Arroyo. Second, Dunn would get torn apart in NY. When the hell did I say anything about production?
  20. QUOTE(SABR Sox @ Jul 11, 2006 -> 04:29 PM) NY won't kill you for K'ing. Hell the team does enough of it. Thy give the Yankees s*** all the time, yet they still score a s***load of runs and Dunn would only help that cause. He'd get crap like everyone, but who doesn't get crap as a Yankee? Anyone slmps, Stein is riding thier ass. It's part of the job, but in the end, same result: Total power and total patience in that lineup. Dunn already gets a hard time from the Cincy fans. There is no way in hell that he doesn't get it 10x as bad from the NY fans and media.
  21. QUOTE(Dan Pasqua @ Jul 11, 2006 -> 04:18 PM) 286 BA, 397 OBP, in the playoffs. Not great but very serviceable. Not to mention one of the biggest home runs in white sox history. Pods led us to our 1st world series title in 88 years as our lead off man and I recognize the fact hes not the best lead off man in the world, but for right now he is playing well enough to deserve some respect from the fans. He is an integral aspect of team chemistry and we have a few glaring needs to improve on. If we are gonna rip Pods then lets rip Mark Buehrle, Fraddy Garcia and Jon Garland. Should we get rid of them? I think not In fact, he's one of the worst. Do you read this site? We rip the s*** out of those guys, too.
  22. QUOTE(SABR Sox @ Jul 11, 2006 -> 04:19 PM) Yea that short porch in right field would just kill his production?! He's basically another Jason Giambi but can play LF. They'd love to add another Giambi to the lineup. First of all, Jason Giambi himself could probably play LF just as well as Adam Dunn. And the point I'm making about him having a tough time in NY is this. If A-Rod gets as much s*** as he does, can you imagine how much a guy with as many K's as Dunn will get?
