Milkman delivers replied to Greg Hibbard's topic in 2006 Season in Review
Is it possible that Cliff Politte is actually THE worst pitcher in the MLB? -

QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 02:28 PM) Both would be nice. I still can't see Ozzie rather having Vaz over Garcia. If he does, he'll just be out there tomorrow. Ozzie is big on 2nd chances. And 3rd, and 4th, and 5th, and 6th, and 7th, and 8th, etc. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 02:24 PM) You know they're only teasing us with these trade rumors. I'd much rather trade Garcia, but I wouldn't cry if Vazquez is ever dealt. Neither would I. They both suck. I'm just more confident with the sucky pitcher that can throw in the 90's consistently. -

Does everyone agree that they'd rather trade Garcia over Vazquez? -

Looked like Uribe might've thought that was gone for some reason. -

QUOTE(whitesox1976 @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 02:14 PM) I am wondering if we should put McCarthay in the starting rotation at some point? We really should. It would be hard to be worse than some of our starters have been. -
QUOTE(Young Gun @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 02:13 PM) Hopefully this is our bad stretch... Well, we're usually not very good in the second half of the season. The race is so close this year that we really can't do that, or we're not even going to make the playoffs.

QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 02:07 PM) [stating the obvious] The White Sox now have only one starting pitcher with an ERA under 4.40. That's not a bad stretch of pitching. That is a bad season of starting pitching (so far). [/stating the obvious] Does anyone really think we should just stand pat with this rotation and completely rely on the offense to both get us into the playoffs and win us another WS? This team, as currently constituted doesn't win even one playoff series (if it gets that far). We're looking at the 2001-4 White Sox with a better bullpen. -

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 02:06 PM) With as great of reputation Gload has as a defensive firstbaseman, I've never been that impressed. He's almost completely useless to this team. Same as the starters. -
Well, the All-Star Break has come and gone. Aren't our garbage starters supposed to "turn it on" now? Or "get into a groove" or something? Hasn't Coop fixed them yet? Don't worry. It's only a matter of time before they get their s*** together. There's nothing to worry about here. Move along, and put your head back in that sand.

I absolutely hate Javier Vazquez, but I would trade Garcia first if I had the chance. Garcia is going to get much worse this year, and he's on the downswing of his career. At least with Vazquez, he still has the stuff to possibly put in a good season.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 14, 2006 -> 04:04 PM) 6IP, 3ER, 5R, 4BB, 1SO, 11H | GAME ERA: 4.50 WHIP: 2.50 This is a quality start. They should call it a "meh start," not a quality start.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jul 14, 2006 -> 03:46 PM) Now this was the kinda post I was looking for. Excellent post, Keith. Danny Wright didn't get s***ted on as much as Garcia has around here of late. The correct word is shat.

QUOTE(CWSOX45 @ Jul 14, 2006 -> 02:42 PM) I go to school with a bunch of Mets fans, I asked them what they thought of that trade, and they said they didn't like it at the time, but if the Mets won the series this year, they couldn't give two s***s about Kazmir in Tampa. That's what the mindset of Mets fans are now, and that's hopefully is Minaya's mindset. Ha, funny thing is that they actually would have a better chance to win the WS this year if they had Kazmir.

Also, I think Hawk and DJ could get a younger audience to root for the Sox. Think about it. If you're a little kid, you want to get into the game. You get that with Hawk and DJ because they are completely biased. When I think about it, Hawk is probably a huge reason I enjoy the Sox so much. And I do like being the Oakland Raiders of the MLB.

The prospect of shipping out Garcia, even if it's a huge long shot, is making me so happy.
-
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 14, 2006 -> 10:26 AM) I think you are right. His antics the Boston series, showing up Iguchi, lost velocity, the alledged positive marijuana test at the WBC, and the fact that KW gave up a guy he had on his "3 year board" for Vazquez, would indicate to me that he would be reluctant to pull the plug on Vazquez after 3 months. If the Sox trade a starter, I would imagine it would be Garcia that KW would prefer to move. I wonder how much more than Gordon KW wants from Philadelphia. So many more reasons to get rid of Garcia. He really should be the one to go. As frustrated as I am with Vazquez, his pure stuff is still there. I just hope that they get a lot for Garcia.

White Sox scouting Chris Burke of the Astros?
Milkman delivers replied to RibbieRubarb's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I would love to get Burke. I wouldn't mind trading Garcia or Vazquez, but I really don't want to trade Mackowiak. Are they actually considering that? -
Hawk and DJ = broadcasting in a major metropolitan area These fools = exiled in Memphis Jealous?

iamshack, I would like to make a poll thread asking people who is better between Gload and Mackowiak. How would you like me to word it?
-
QUOTE(iamshack @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 04:38 PM) Which stats? Gload has a career OPS of .751. Mackowiak has a career OPS of .747. Mackowiak has had more experience in the field because he played for a s*** organization. Don't say I am wrong just because you cannot justify your argument with anything more than "Rob is great, and he can play 3B horribly, but Gload cannot at all!" Or "Damaso didn't get along with Ozzie, so he sucks and has no value!" I am giving you arguments. I told you that Rob plays a good LF/RF, and that he can play 3B and 2B pretty damn well, too. Ross Gload can play 1B, while providing zero power from that position. Ross Gload is horse s*** in the OF. What the f*** else do you want me to tell you?
-
QUOTE(iamshack @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 04:35 PM) Simply because he could not stay here does not mean we needed to trade him for a player we already pretty much had. And he sucks now? He's having a fine year in Pittsburgh if you ask me, and the Pirates will probably more back than a bench player when they trade him in two weeks. Once again, this is not an "I hate Rob" thread. But take off the local boy glasses and objectively look at it. Yeah, I am looking at it objectively. I am the last person on this board to call a homer. Everyone telling you that you're wrong should let you know that you're wrong.
-
QUOTE(iamshack @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 04:32 PM) Just because one has played 7 positions does not mean he plays them well. Let's remember folks, this is not Chone Figgins playing all over the field for the Angels (actually a good team). This is a guy who played all over the field for the Pirates, who have sucked balls for close to 15 years now. Rob is an average player. Just like Gload would be if given the chance. You're wrong. You're just wrong. You can use stats or your own eyes, and both will tell you that Mackowiak is better than Gload.
-
QUOTE(iamshack @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 04:28 PM) How would you even know about Ross, we have never given him a chance. The one year we did, in 04', Gload posted an .854 OPS, something Rob has never even approached until this season. If Gload is a fringe player, and Mackowiak is one of the best utility players in baseball, I submit that the only f***ing difference is playing time. With Mackowiak coming from the Pirates, he received that. Gload, actually being on a good team, did not. As for Damaso Marte being garbage, he has a 3.17 ERA. Clearly you don't mean to suggest that he has been the recipient of an otherworldly number of good relievers cleaning up for him for the past FIVE YEARS, including this year, in which he has a 2.97 ERA. Idiot or not, Damaso has a damn good arm. And he was useless to us, and I doubt many teams wanted anything to do with him if "all" we could get for him was s***ty Rob Mackowiak. Everyone on this board will tell you that Mackowiak is better than Gload in just about every facet of the game.

HBO begins production on yet another show about Cubs
Milkman delivers replied to Hangar18's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 04:14 PM) That may possibly have been true at one point a while back, but its nonsense to believe its so now. Nonsense. Completely. Guys like Greenburg and companies like HBO, MasterCard, think theyve got the pulse of America, but these bozos are a week late and $20 bucks short. Basically what I told him, was that REGURGITATING the same thing over and over, isnt really working all that hard. True, that fanbase is one of the dumbest in all of sports, and will fall down running to spend their money on crap like this, but then they simply need to just say that instead. You know what? You're wrong. There isn't any need to explain this either, because everyone who has read this thread or is still going to read this thread will know you are wrong. I honestly believe nobody thinks you are right about this.
