  1. At least he didn't take it looking. 1-0 Sox, bottom 3.
  2. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 01:13 PM) Glad to see peace in the game thread right now. I will kill you.
  3. Freddy keeps 'em scoreless through 3. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 01:09 PM) Bill Melton 1971 Dick Allen 1972 I thought Frank led the league in the early 90's at some point. Hey, I got half right
  4. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 01:07 PM) Against the pitcher the first time in a game, Pods is batting .253 with 15 SB, according to ESPN.com. That's actually more SB's than I figured for the 1st, but I still don't think it would be much of a dropoff from Pods to Mackowiak/Ozuna.
  5. 24 of 25 in stolen bases against Garcia? That's f***ing pathetic. That is terrible.
  6. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 01:01 PM) To be honest, I could see Mack leading off. We certainly wouldn't have much of a dropoff, and the leadoff hitter only really matters at the beginning of the game. I HATE that Hardee's commercial. Shut your mouth New Yorkers. That's exactly why I asked how many times Pods led off a game, got on base, and then stole. That's about the only thing that would be different than someone else leading off. I really doubt he's done that many times. Is Frank Thomas and Bill Melton the answer to the trivia question?
  7. QUOTE(Wedge @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 12:59 PM) who bats lead off then? This may sound like a weird question, but how many times does Pods steal a base after getting on base to lead off a game?
  8. Well, that was a terrible at bat for Alex. There's your run, Garcia. Now shut 'em down.
  9. Mackowiak's offense has been better than I expected. Cintron's swing is very long.
  10. Crede hasn't been too good the last couple days.
  11. Wow, that was really f***ing deep. Damn, I hate you, Coco.
  12. Jermaine Dye isn't that bad when you think about it
  13. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 12:46 PM) I don't understand how so many could say he was so great last year, and so pathetic this. His obp is only .004 lower than last year. He is only 18 runs short of his entire season total from last year. He already has driven in more runs, and he has approximately half of the SB. I wasn't a very big fan of his last year, either. And this year he's got a mediocre BA and he's getting thrown out on the bases a whole lot.
  14. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 12:41 PM) He's like #6 in the AL for RS. Yes, our offense is very good. Imagine if our leadoff hitter could hit and/or steal bases still.
  15. Leadoff double for Manny. It might have been a little closer if Pods had the ability to "pick up" a rolling baseball.
  16. QUOTE(Wedge @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 12:34 PM) How long until a "I've given up on Pods" or "DFA Pods" thread pops up? Well, Pods isn't quite as bad as someone like Widger. But it's going to be nice when we have a quality leadoff hitter again one day.
  17. That was a nice catch by Cora. And Pods continues to be useless.
  18. Wow, I don't know if I've ever seen those little fact boxes be so negative.
  19. This one could get ugly in a hurry. The offense is going to have to step up and score about 10 runs today.
  20. The fact is that Widger isn't good on either side of the ball. He cannot hit and he cannot call a good game anymore. That, in itself, makes him useless to us. It really has gotten to the point where when you see him in the lineup, you expect to lose. I don't know if they'll be able to make a trade for another backup catcher, but I can't see one costing too much.
  21. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 10:44 PM) What Mark Johnson up to these days? And Jamie Burke? I'll ask them the next time I have to run to Dominick's.
  22. Hey, Buehrle cut his ER's in half since his last start. Baby steps...baby steps.
