QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 08:57 PM) That was what I was responding to. If you didn't mean it to imply that Jose from 2004 was back, I apologize. Just pointing out that he's having a day like he used to have. But I guess it does sound like I'm ripping on him. No need for apologies, let's just forget it.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 08:03 PM) I knew this was coming. You do realize that before tonight he hasn't given up anymore than 4 earned runs in any of his previous starts? Jose flat doesn't have it tonight. No big deal. You do realize that I was just telling the truth, right? Before tonight's game, his only chance of ever getting to the All-Star game would be his ERA. Now, he has no chance of making it. I'm not s***ting on Contreras at all. But hey, put words in my mouth all you want.
-
Yay, 1-2-3 inning for Contreras. I'm so happy. Well, I've had enough of this game. I'm just gonna do something fun and pretend this thing never happened. Let's just say it's one of those 60.
-
If he ever had a prayer, it's now long gone. Today he's reverting back to his old self.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 07:43 PM) I could go without seeing Contreras pitch to Widger again. They have no chemistry together. Yeah, I was thinking about starting an entire thread devoted to that idea. Widger should never even be allowed in the stadium the same day that Contreras pitches. Looks like Ozzie's lefty-righty matchup has bitten him in the ass, yet again. This is by far the worst game of the season, and it's so bad that it's now funny.
-
Bases loaded, 1 out. s***ty play.
-
Contreras in trouble, 1 out with runners on 1st and 2nd. He's taking a long time to throw the pitches and is throwing a lot of balls. 1-0 on Glaus.

QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 05:39 PM) I'm glad to see we came in and beat a first place NL team. We might have had a sweep if a certain someone had put ina pinch hitter for someone, but *AHEM* Nvm. I hated how many times this year we played a solid team and only managed a split. I like how this series went. Well, we couldn't split this series even if we tried...it was a 3 game set. -

QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 11:45 AM) I can't even believe this woman would say this...personally, there are several types of dogs I would never own...pitbulls, dobermans, g. sheperds and rottweilers...not for me. Don't forget Dalmatians. They attack more people than any other dog.

Jimmy Rollins gets $40 million extension
Milkman delivers replied to southsider2k5's topic in The Diamond Club
Brad Penny just signed an extension with the Dodgers, Rollins just signed...looks like the free agent market will be pretty thin this year. As far as pitchers go, there will be practically no starters out there. Especially since AJ Burnett will sign with either the Yankees or Red Sox, without a doubt. -
Just wanna throw two sets of stats out there, see if you can guess who the two players are. .294 AVG/.347 OBP/.443 SLG/.790 OPS .295 AVG/.342 OBP/.406 SLG/.747 OPS

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 12:58 PM) I don't know where else to post this, and it doesn't deserve its own thread, but I'm in a mood to rant... I'm a graduate student in Geology. I'm at Caltech, and I've been in California for 2 years now. I've walked on at least 5 active faults while out here. I haven't felt an earthquake my entire time here. The White Sox have now felt more earthquakes than I have. Wow. That would make a better thread than a few things around here. -
QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 10:00 PM) willie has more years left in him than timo, im sure some team out there is looking for a left handed bat off the bench, maybe we could somehow package him and ozuna Then we'd have no IF depth...at all. No.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 07:03 PM) Harris is every bit as important as everett is. He can play second and short ( second with the best of them). He can also play the outfield and does something not many opthers on out team can do... draw walks. He's important, yes. But I don't think he's as important as Everett is. Everett has been a big factor in many more games, whereas Harris only gets in every 3 or 4 games, at the most. And I want to clarify one thing. I'm not in favor of trading Harris. I'd like to keep him around, but if he could get us a good reliever, I'd be willing to part with him moreso than I would with Everett. I'd much rather just trade using the farm system, though.
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 07:01 PM) I'd definitely love to keep Carl around. As far as our pen another reliever wouldn't hurt no doubt but if we can get Viz on track then we'd have 5 pretty reliable guys which is pretty solid. Well, I'm still a little scared with Marte's injury and how he comes back from it, and Hermanson's loss of velocity and the way he's pitched lately.
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 06:54 PM) Time will tell. The beauty is we're in no need to rush into a trade because everything at this point is going well. If Viz can get himself backon track who knows maybe another reliever won't even be needed. One thing is for sure though Carl could definitely help a contender somewhere, it is very rare however that you see contenders trade with each other, though it does happen Even if Vizcaino turns it around, I still feel like we need another quality reliever. Unless the trade blew my mind, I wouldn't trade Everett. If we're going to get a reliever, we might as well package up some minor league talent and someone like Harris (since apparently he doesn't get along with the team, and he's not nearly as important as Everett). Everett has been clutch this year and he just flat out produces. He can spell the outfielders perfectly and still probably play 4 or 5 games a week.

QUOTE(Fotop @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 06:51 PM) Nevin's mouth and the Pads celebrating last night's victory like it was the World Series makes this victory all that much sweeter. So like I said in chat, Stay classy you jerks. (well this is the PG-13 version, lol) Here's to a successful roadtrip! How were they celebrating? I always turn the game right off after a loss. -

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 06:42 PM) Not only that but how about throwing up some props for Uribe for showing some discipline at the plate taking a couple of walks including the one that tied the game up? Yes, props to Uribe for walking Props to Crede for hitting a homer Props to Cotts for continuing to be his new self Props to Iguchi because he's always been the f***ing man this year and he started us off in that last inning Props to Rowand for being huge off the bench And the rest who did something worth a props for which I am too lazy to continue this thing -

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 06:30 PM) Great, great win tonight. I'm often critical of putting Everett in the outfield, but he did a solid job out there tonight. Huge win! Kind of weird to say, and also a small sample, but Everett has looked better than Dye in RF this year to me. -

And, oh yeah, props to Vizcaino. I'll admit when he's good and he's been much better recently. -
