  1. QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ May 24, 2005 -> 07:32 PM) Joe Randa could be had for so, so much cheaper and the Sox would not have to give up any outfield prospects or an A pitching prospect. You could easily see a Tracey for Randa trade going down, and Randa wouldn't kill team payroll for years to come. How's Randa's defense, though?
  2. I hope KW does everything he can possibly do to get Chavez without giving up McCarthy. I mean, pretty much anyone but McCarthy. If he can't get the job done without giving up McCarthy, I'd feel better if he also got a good reliever in the deal.
  3. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 24, 2005 -> 12:16 PM) With Kenny Williams, you never know. But there isn't a guy better at filling holes than Kenny is. With all of our starters owned by the team through the end of 2006, we have an extra pitcher with McCarthy making his name heard. Many, many teams will listen if we are talking about a pitcher for 1B. If they're going to trade a starter (which I believe they will), I would say it's El Duque. Most people would say it's either him or Contreras, but the Count has been putting together a very solid season. If he keeps pitching like he is, we shouldn't be trading him. But then who would give us a starting 1B for Hernandez?
  4. QUOTE(TheDybber @ May 24, 2005 -> 12:15 PM) How about Polanco and Howard? Howard may be off the trade list because of Thome's back, but there's your 1B next year when Konerko doesn't resign. I'd have to change my pants if that happened. Luckily for my pants, there's not much of a chance that it will.
  5. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 24, 2005 -> 12:14 PM) Bad teams don't want to deal young cheap players. They want to deal expensive old players. The guy most likely to be dealt out of Houston is Roger Clemens, and then MAYBE Biggio, if he wanted to go. But that is about it. They aren't going to be dealing guys like Oswalt, Lidge, etc. Who could really afford Clemens this year? He's making too much, I don't think he's going anywhere. The way people talk around here, you'd think the Astros we're dying to get rid of Lidge.
  6. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ May 24, 2005 -> 11:51 AM) Fellas, go back one page and read Dick Allen's post. I was so happy and full of hope for replacing that piece of s*** 3B (who will remain nameless) until I read that post. Now I'm just sad and depressed.
  7. QUOTE(YASNY @ May 24, 2005 -> 11:43 AM) Herbert Perry? Herb was a 3B. I'm appalled that you didn't know that.
  8. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 24, 2005 -> 08:16 AM) My theory, look for one of the starting pitchers to be dealt for a first baseman and some depth in the off-season. Do you have any ideas on who that 1B might be?
  9. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ May 24, 2005 -> 11:24 AM) My damn weiner kids are listening. I'm glad that didn't go unnoticed. What's with the coulots, boy? (I don't know how to spell coulots)
  10. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 24, 2005 -> 09:16 AM) Why the hell is he too good to turn it around? He has a career 4.69 ERA and he's a one-pitch pitcher. Mike Jackson was also good at one point. A lot of people somehow got it in their heads that he is really good. He had a good year, then he had a bad year, then he had a good half year, and then the next half wasn't good. Now, he is just one of the suckiest sucks that ever sucked.
  11. QUOTE(qwerty @ May 24, 2005 -> 01:18 AM) Yes, more versatile. He can play left and first while konerko can just play first. That seems like two to one to me. Also, he is not slower than konerko. He hits for a higher average along with a higher ops ( career wise). Millar's career ops is 121 while konerko's is only 111. Millar we also be significantly cheaper than konerko. He's making $3.5 million this year, so he'll be getting around 5 million next year. I think we can do better with that money. He really is slow. True, not Konerko slow, but who really is?
  12. QUOTE(Whitesoxfan56 @ May 24, 2005 -> 01:15 AM) who the hell picked viz and why He took one for the team. His ERA is inflated. Other BS argument...
  13. QUOTE(qwerty @ May 24, 2005 -> 01:10 AM) Durazo would be number one by a large margain if he could play first base. Then it would be millar and snow. I like millar because he is pretty versatile which is always nice. Millar's versatile? He's just as slow as Konerko, but with much less pop in his bat. I've seen him play for two years now. Of course, he's a "team leader," too. He's a poor man's Pauly. He's definitely last on my list.
  14. To answer the title of this thread, I truly hope not. Konerko is the definition of a one-dimensional player. He can hit homeruns, period. Some team will pay him much more than we will because of that. He's not even worth the $8 million he's getting this year.
  15. QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ May 24, 2005 -> 12:59 AM) A .689 winning% for a full season is 112 games. We will not win 112 games. I hadn't thought about it that way.
  16. QUOTE(DABearSoX @ May 24, 2005 -> 12:57 AM) I agree with the team has to learn from its mistakes line, but my point i am trying to make is that you cant rag on one or 2 people for a loss....its the whole team....there is no thread about Uribe sucking at the plate, no one hit that rook today cept gooch.....its the whole teams fault not just crede or viz.... You can't rag on a guy for a loss, but you can rag on a guy for sucking the whole year.
  17. A team's gotta learn from its mistakes. If we keep saying, "it's only one loss, we can't keep this pace up, we're still in first," we might end up in the same position we were in last year.
  18. QUOTE(ChiSoxFan @ May 24, 2005 -> 12:46 AM) Crede, yes. Vizcaino, not particulary. The mere fact that you said that if the Sox don't make the playoffs should cost KW his job is what had me :shakehead It's May 23, not Sept 23. The season hasn't even reached the 3rd month yet. Let's hold off the playoff talk until they actually get there. I thought it was common knowledge that KW is gone if he doesn't get to the playoffs this year?
  19. QUOTE(ChiSoxFan @ May 24, 2005 -> 12:38 AM) No I don't. You like Crede and Viz?
  20. QUOTE(ChiSoxFan @ May 24, 2005 -> 12:25 AM) :headshake Do you not agree with me?
  21. I hope you're paying attention, KW. If you don't make the playoffs, you don't have a job. Today showed some big changes you have to make. Get rid of Crede. Get rid of Vizcaino.
  22. QUOTE(Cubs Suck23 @ May 24, 2005 -> 12:14 AM) At least Minnesota lost tonight so we are still 5 games ahead I hate having to think like that. That's the exact type of thing we started saying last year right before the Twins came back.
  23. QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ May 24, 2005 -> 12:13 AM) At least he pitched in a game we have no chance of winning. The problem is that he's allowed to pitch at all.
  24. QUOTE(qwerty @ May 24, 2005 -> 12:10 AM) Vizacino sucks so bad... I said yesterday that Ozzie would trot him out there the first chance he got. Unfortunately, I was right.
  25. I haven't been able to see this game today, and it looks like I should be thankful. Another Cy Young performance from a s*** bag AAA pitcher and Garland is going to get an undeserved loss. Crede and Uribe still sucking. Konerko and Dye back to the s***s. Am I right with this stuff?
