QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 02:07 PM) Basically, he is saying that the offense will not score 13 one game and then score 4 combined in the next 5 games. More consistent run scoring has helped the Sox this year, no matter what anybody thinks. The runs per game may be down but the consistency is there, just not as of late. yea no i know that. I knew they wouldn't lose that much power. The offense does rely on Pods though and he needs to start stealing those bases again. Hawk says that sometimes guys like Pods will go 8-10 games without stealing a base or getting caught and than steal 20 consecutive bases in like 15 days.

Cub fans "classless" according to Cubs players

QUOTE(rangercal @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 02:05 PM) I doubt koch would get treated like that if he came back as a visitor. Hawkins received racist letters in the mail on top of things. Shingo definately would never get that treatment. i would cheer Koch to be honest. He seemed like a great guy. He always took responsibility if he blew the game and he never blamed anybody else for his struggles. -
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 01:43 PM) Actually if you listened to Ozzie, Kenny, and company during times like Soxfest, they never said they were going to reduce the HRs or the amount of runs that they scored because of them. What they said was that they wanted to balance out their offense and make sure that they were scoring runs on a more regular basis, so that they weren't scoring 15 runs one day, and 2 in each of the next 3 games. I know that others have crunched the numbers, and largely the Sox have been very successful at this as their variances between how many runs they scoring games is way down, as is their standard deviations. You can pretty much bet the Sox will score 3, 4, or 5 runs every day, within a reasonable standard deviation. oh no i know that. However i did expect maybe less of their runs coming off of the Home Run.

QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 12:39 PM) Josh, I agree they probably don't want to trade him. I would also say everyone has their price. Freel is a perfect fit for the White Sox and I suspect whoever wants him would have to overpay. Trade deadline is about 72 hours from now, we'll see what happens. i would love freel. He can play 4 or 5 different positions and he would be a perfect utility guy. The reds have a lot of talent that they can trade right now.

QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 12:34 PM) That's easy, give them young players. Problem solved. yes for guys like Kearns, Milton, and maybe Pena. I just think Freel is the guy they won't trade.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 11:39 AM) I know, I know, playing armchair GM here, but I wonder if Kenny could package Shingo along with Willie for Ryan Freel. Why would the Reds be interested in Willie? He provides smiliar numbers and could slide into 2B on the depth chart for the next few years. Why would the Reds be interested in Shingo? Beats me. Perhaps they wouldn't mind taking on that contract if they felt it would help lead to more W's by setting up or closing out ballgames. no. I think freel is not gonna be traded because he is cheap and he can play a bunch of positions. Also the reds would want young players.

Hopefully Jenks elbow doesn't get hurt. This guy's injury history is scary. He looked good though and the curve is nasty.

I think the sox will get Burnett. Florida needs bullpen help and they need it badly. They would be stupid not to take the Sox Offer. If the Sox do get Lowell i think the Sox should spin Lowell off to another team for some prospects or bullpen help. Do you think the Sox should keep Lowell or not if they get him. He is another right handed masher and they have enough of those already. If they are going to get a power hitter i would want him to swing from the left side.

Yeah i thought the offense changed to however according to Stats INC, the White Sox have score 40.3% of their runs off the Home Run. Is the something we should be concerned about

QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 06:01 PM) Not only did Gload singlehandedly lose us this game... But I think it's no coincidence that this team started sucking as soon as Gload got up to the majors... Conclusion... get well Frank, trade for Huff... Just do something to get Gload off this team... We need to be the best in baseball again... And as long as losers like Gload and Harris drag us down.. the playoffs are a pipe dream.... um Huff is brutal defensively. He can really hit though. -

according to Boers & Bernstein 40.3% of the Sox Runs have come off the Home Run. Maybe the offense hasn't changed at all. -
QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 05:44 PM) No, it wasn't. It was in the spring way before Bryan was named as Dave's replacement. my memory does suck however i am pretty sure it was on opening day.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 03:49 PM) It was Carmen's... he screwed it up when he attacked Jerry makes no sense because that was opening day right? and Dolgin got the job before opening day.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 04:21 PM) That was all Silvy's doing. I would find it very hard to believe JR has any ill will towards DeFalco. If you were listening, Silverman really did conduct the interview under false pretenses. no Carmen and JR are fine. Harry said that Carmen and JR talked and resolved everything between them.

QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 04:37 PM) Josh, not sure they want to bring a lefthanded bat off the bench cold to face a lefthanded pitcher. Just a hunch. who cares what he bats. He is hitting well right now. Use him. and that was f***ing close. Good point about him being the only catcher. -

and why not bring in Pierzynski to hit for Widger. Pierzynski has been awesome lately.
