  1. with all his injuries does anybody think that because of all Frank's injuries that Sox could sign to like a Matt Morris type deal in the off-season. That's all he could hope for. Maybe like a base of $3 million with a lot of bonuses. This is assuming he isn't completely done.
  2. Trade for Aubrey Huff now. What do you think the Sox would have to give up for him?
  3. Do they know if he refractured his ankle? Because if he didn't than he can still play. It might be painful however he can still play. If he refractured it than he is done. However if he didn't than i'm not so sure. Levine never said that he refractured it and for something like this i don't believe sources.
  4. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 02:46 PM) I really don't give a s*** what stat you throw out there from Baseball Prospectus, I've watched every Sox game this season and I've seen a Frank Thomas that hits a HR, K's or walks and when he walks he's not necessarily helping things seeing how he's laboring around the bases. I saw him on numerous occations have Pods on 3rd with 1 out and fail to bring him in. He was horrible at the small things. Sure he'd hit a HR after striking out in his first 2 ABs and then go ahead and pop out in his final AB and that was great, gotta love his HRs. But Frank was not contributing the way that this team needed him to. When he first got back for like the first 2 weeks, he did contribute and helped us build up a giant lead in the division but he fell off. I don't care what stats you wanna throw at me, I know what I saw. yes however even a bad Frank gets his teamates better pitches to hit. It's shouldn't be a surprise that Dye started to hit a lot better. He got better pitches to hit. He does much more than a lot of people think he does.
  5. QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 02:37 PM) MJH just talked about it in their tease ok im gonna believe this when the Sox actually release this. I like Bruce however all they said was that "sources" told him this. I will believe it when i hear Kenny say this. When i see it on the Sox website than i believe it. He probably is done though. f***!
  6. QUOTE(ceffa2000 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 10:36 AM) Stupid question, but could someone please explain to me the process of clearing waivers? hope this helps.
  7. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 10:27 AM) I doubt they'd be included in the same deal anyway, I'm just curious if you rate Tracey higher than others (although I know Jason really likes him). I think that he has a ton of potential and while I would rank McCarthy higher than him, McCarthy could get the Sox a lot in return. He is a power-pitcher and he is really the only SP that is a power pitcher for the Sox in the upper levels. He needs to improve his control however he has great stuff.
  8. He was shot in an attempted Armed Robbery. He was shot in the stomach. They just said on an update that he is in better condition. My prayors go out to his family. Link
  9. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 10:24 AM) Why wouldn't you trade Sean Tracey? either Tracey or McCarthy, not both.
  10. QUOTE(ceffa2000 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 10:12 AM) Posters, What does everyone think of having a trade countdown timer on the Inside Beat page? It could be at the top of the page but I have no idea how to write the script for it and figured if it was something people would be in favor of, somebody might know how to do it. I know CBS Sportsline has a counter on their page so I'm not sure if you could snag that code or anything. I want to make sure its not going to drive anyone crazy in the process. Repsond so we could take an informal poll to gauge interest. that would be cool i guess.
  11. These are the prospects that i would like KW not to trade at the deadline this year: Brian Anderson Sean Tracey or McCarthy(don't trade both) Josh Fields Bobby Jenks(not a prospect anymore however still a young player) Maybe Chris Young Gio Gonzalez(unless it's a great deal) Who do you guys think are untouchable.
  12. QUOTE(Al Lopez's Ghost @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 09:59 AM) OK, but as I said, TW missed 4 years in military service, so take that into consideration. no i know and he was obviously not a better hitter than Ted, however Harolds total numbers are good enough to be in the HOF.
  13. Who besides me still thinks that AJ Burnett will be a White Sox. I mean this deal would make so much sense for both sides. The Sox would get an Ace and he would fit into the rotation very nicely. Also Florida needs Bullpen help badly. They are still in the Wild Card race. Marte would fit the bill as a Lefty Setup man that they need badly. Their rotation is fine and McCarthy would be a good addition to that team for years to come. It just makes to much sense.
  14. QUOTE(HSC's Biggest Fan @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 08:41 AM) Foxx Raffy if he is 50/50 Frank Thomas is out. The amazing thing about baseball is that in its history Yankee (or NY in general) players are so grossly overrated it is disgusting. Yogi Berra v. Mel Ott for instance (not sure about the stats but they are close) Whitey Ford Hell even Joe Dimaggio. His hit streak is nice but in the grand scheme of things what did it get him (what was his average during the streak). I'll take 3 2 for 4's and an 0 for 2 over three 1 for 4's and a 2 for 4. Hank Aaron was probably the greatest (behind Ruth) and you would think he couldn't hold Willie Mays jock with accolades draped on Mays (not saying he wasn't great). The media overhypes flair, pizzazz (not Piazza) and locale rather than real talent and achievement. I bet Jorge Posada is more of a HOF lock then Frank Thomas, christ there were stories on if Mattingly should make it. Harold Baines will pass on the balloting like Andre Dawson, too bad he didn't play longer with the cub he (Dawson) would've been a first ballot guy. With the Trib coverage of Sandberg this week (back page every day) did they do this for Fisk???You would have think he saved 10,000 children in a burning orphanage and then found them all nice warm homes. Enough of my rant, off to the USA radio poll to post the Trib comments on this, they are precious. Harold Baines has more hits than Ted Williams in his career. I know he isn't better than him however he would've had 3,000 hits had he not played in 2 strike years.
  15. QUOTE(MinnySoxFan @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 08:33 PM) Any help would be appreciated and this seems to be the place to go for this ever since we got Podsy his seat in the All Star Game. ESPN 1070 in Madison is doing a Dream Job where you win an hourly weekly radio show. I'm in the final 15 and they are cutting it down to 10 through internet voting. So since we do this better than anyone else in the business I thought I'd go to the experts for any help. If anyone knows how to make it easier to vote quicker or can glean any info out of their website (help tech-heads!) let me know. It also doesn't seem to show the vote totals right away so at no point will I know where I'm at. It WOULD be kind of fun to blow everyone away by a ridiculous margin though. And I'd be sure to give props to the boys here, just like Hawk and DJ. So anyway, here's the link: http://espn1070.com/dreamjob.html And I'm Ryan N, second from the last one. Thanks for any help and let's put me on the aiiiir...YES!!! im voting for you. And let me on the air when i call you! Good Luck!
  16. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 08:07 PM) He is good.... not very good.... Before he was traded I bet half the people here didnt even know who he was I do and i know him personally. He was a basketball player at Northwestern to. He was a coach at the Northwestern Basketball Camp and I was on his team. Great Guy.
  17. for a couple prospects according to ESPN 1000.
  18. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 06:25 PM) No Doug Jones was a closer with the Indians, and pitched for several other teams. He couldn't break a pane of glass with one of his pitches, but he had a great change and located well. He looked like a weekend softball player and had one of those moustaches you have to lift up with one hand while you shove food in your mouth with the other. yeah but Todd Jones has the column for the SN that you are thinking of.
  19. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 06:03 AM) Vladimir Guerrero: drools
  20. QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 03:00 PM)
  21. QUOTE(Ozzie Montana @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 05:10 PM) This is good news for our bullpen. I hope he can fix his problems and come back to help this ball club. If he can fix his problems than Leaky Luis will be gone.
  22. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 05:04 PM) Shingo will not be the closer down there. Baj has an ERA hovering around 1 he'll keep his job. Shingo will be plugged in as a middle reliever. good than have him setup. Give him work.
  23. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 03:40 PM) Reliever probably either closer or setup. Just put him in a pressure situation. Let's see what he can do in it.
  24. Do you guys mean Todd Jones? He was writing columns for Sporting News and still does. He is also the closer for the Marlins.
