This sucks.

No male White Sox fan will name his pet Fluffy, Snowball, or Shnookiewookums

The Bears haven't won the big prize yet, so I think it's a little early for this, although yes, it is a great feeling, but in either case, Sox have it.

More low-key news in the Sox offseason. Well, hopefully having this 4th OFer will help. I honestly dunno much about Erstad, but I've heard good things, but not as much within the last couple years.

QUOTE(Butter Parque @ Jan 9, 2007 -> 11:05 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I was thinking about our bullpen after reading the 5 reasons the sox should contend, and if Aardsma and Sisco both make it out of the bullpen, is it possible that the Sox could have one of the hardest throwing bullpen's of all time? Aardsma- He has a fastball that tops out in the mid 90's, even though for awhile last year he was topping out at 93 mph. MacDougal- Can get his fastball in the mid to upper 90's. Jenks- Consistently gets his fastball in the mid to high 90's. Masset- I don't know much about him, but from what I've heard, he consistently throws in the mid 90's. Thornton- The lefty with the soft delivery is consistently able to get his fastball in the mid to upper 90's. Sisco- From when I remember watching him the last couple of seasons, he pretty much gets it in 92 mph-94 mph range. I know it doesn't mean much, but I think it would be pretty cool to have one of the most powerful bullpen's of all time. At least it should be interesting to watch. I must admit I'm a bit skeptical considering the fact that some of these guys don't have great control and/or are unproven, but if everyone had good control and worked to the best of thier ability, it would be nice. Admittedly, I'm a BIT excited, but overall I'm more of a skeptic about our overall bullpen ATM.

With his usual role? .310, 1 HR (lol), 65 RBI (Bench player), 12 SB.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 6, 2007 -> 07:24 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> We've sure got some jaded mofo's on this site. Regarding Mark's performance, sure he had a s***ty 2nd half to '06. But, if you take a discerning look at his overall body of work throughout his career, Mark's been one of the most valueable pitchers in the majors. Except for a couple of bad streaks, he's been as dependable as anyone. Not great. Not the best. But very solid. I for one have never had a problem with Mark being a Cards fan. I understand what it's like to be a fan. I won't comment on those that do have a problem with this. Just wanted to put my position out there. Then you get into the money issue. Well, wake the f*** up folks, it's a business. And for the players, its a finite business. They happened to blessed with a unique ability that in today's society allows them to make millions of dollars. Because of this set of circumstances, they can financially set up their decendants for generations to come. How many of you fathers out there wouldn't love to have that kind of opportunity? Step back and look at the big picture. Whether it hurts your feelings if he leaves for more money is not part of the equation. For the most part, I agree. One of the most sensible posts I've seen in a while.

I'm not gonna make much of a prediction. I say if he keeps his BA over 280 at least, get's 30 HR and 100 RBIs, that's a good season. Hey, ever since WS 2005, game 2... Paulie will always be a god to me.

I guess Timo is Chuck Norris in this place?

QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Dec 26, 2006 -> 11:10 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I am sick of hearing 'injury concern' regarding any of the players here. Unless they hurt their back every f*cking year, or have arm surgery for fun every off season, everyone is an injury risk. Zumaya hurt himself playing a video game! Is he now an injury risk? Because Dye was hurt before, does that make him an injury risk? Every ball player has been hurt once to some degree. Now Griffey Jr, THERE is a player you can say that about! Everyone else??? AMEN.

Williams obsession with certain prospects
TheBigHurt replied to shawnhillegas's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(shawnhillegas @ Dec 24, 2006 -> 11:23 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I dont mind the deal, but for the fact that our outfield is still god-awful in left and center. But what concerns me here are Kenny's statements that he had been scouting Danks and Masset since June; they were the crown jewels that he was intent on getting for our system. Kenny seems to have done this for a number of different prospects and every day major leaguers now, from Vazquez to Thornton, and I am wondering what others think about this strategy. I'm convinced that if you spend enough time focusing on one player, you will end up overvaluing that player, much the way that we tend to overvalue our own prospects. Is the obsession with Danks a good thing, or does it blind Kenny and prevent him from seeing far better options that may be out there, especially in the outfield? -
This actually makes me kinda sad.

I feel sorry for Ross. Imagine what it must do to someone's psyche to get traded to KC But take care, Ross. You will be missed. Good luck.

Has Man Soo Lee been fired yet?

Wow. This is bittersweet. I'm also a Cards fan...

QUOTE(3 BeWareTheNewSox 5 @ Dec 9, 2006 -> 03:26 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Some of you need to get a damn life. Do we all approve of Mark's wife? Or the car he drives? He gets paid to pitch, he could hate every White Sox fan alive if he wanted to. He doesn't, he's said he likes it here and doesn't want to play in STL, so why don't we all just stay out of something that is none of our damn business. Some of you talking about an advertisement, yeah, being invited to a private suite, I'm sure he really told that guy to upload that pic all over the internet. And I would lmao if it was some backward old school Sox hat (EDIT: See above already beat me to it) I generally agree. I wish (you) people would shut up about this already. So, what? He can be a fan of a team but can't wear a hat? Give me a f***ing break. I can understand if you're talking about him if he said he'd like to play for the Cards, okay, that's being a little blunt (as is becoming a constant with this team lately), but to criticize him for a f***ing cap is ridiculous, IMO. But I really could care less. Mark has earned respect among the Chicago fans and has made it quite apparent that he likes playing here, so I'm not get all bent out of shape about this, and I don't think of you should, either. Let it go already.

I agree. I was one of the guys who did not want him to go. Thanks, Freddy.

Thank God. No more Bonds rumors.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 12:19 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Are you serious? You'd rather have a pitcher who has deteorated as quickly as Mulder has over Vazquez? One who's coming off a surgery as severe as Mulder has over the durability of Vazquez? One who won't pitch till midseason over one who will pitch all season? One with worse stuff before his injury the one with some of the best stuff in the game? wow. nothing more can be said. Sorry, man. I'm just going off what I know. I admit I'm a Cards fan and I'm a bit partial. But I'm mainly just making a general point. I'm not proposing we get rid of Javy and Get Mulder right now, I'm just saying that if he was healthy and efficient, there's no comparison; I'd take Mulder over Javy any day.
-
I'm not going to say anything personally, but what happened to all the trash talking about Javier around here? Perhaps it's not an option, but on paper, I'd much rather have Mulder than Vasquez in our rotation.

Garcia to Philly for Gavin Floyd and Gio Gonzalez
TheBigHurt replied to BobDylan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I don't know about the rest of you, but while I'm not fond of all this either, I'm not worried about 2009 right now. Either way, imagine Jay's colums for the next few weeks... -
Garcia to Philly for Gavin Floyd and Gio Gonzalez
TheBigHurt replied to BobDylan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I really don't know much about these two guys, but as far as I can tell from everyone's reaction, they aren't too pretty. I know a little about Floyd, but not much about Gio. Based on everything I've read here, would we not have been better off with just garcia, or what? Cuz everyone seems ready to start a riot over this trade. I have to admit, though, I saw a headline saying the Sox made a trade with Philly, and I was hoping I'd see the name "Jimmy Rollins." Hell, "Aaron Rowand" would've made me feel a little bit better. WOW, this isn't even a news flash on ESPN News... -
