Surprise!... Hamas Supporters Use Children as Human Shields
DukeNukeEm replied to EvilMonkey's topic in The Filibuster
If you were born in Gaza you would be one of the guys holed up in a school with an assault rifle and a rocket launcher blathering about how evil America is. You're just that kind of person, so yes... the only thing keeping you from being a terrorist is the city you were born in. -

Funny, this is what Hamas thinks of Israel (who bombs Palestinian schools) and America (who supports Israel). BearSox, you really are no different than a run-of-the-mill terrorist. You both share an identical mindset, you're just on different sides. I'll p -
I'm really into the Hold Steady storyline and Stay Positive tied up quite a few loose ends. It's the first THS album where Holly isn't the main character, they focus a lot of Charlemagne's college girlfriend. I would put Stay Postive ahead of BAGIA and behind Almost Killed Me and Separation Sunday. I like AC, but not nearly as much as The Hold Steady.
-
I dont think AC would crack the top 3, but Franz Ferdinand would probably slip in there after Stay Positive.

Its funny how much better 09 is than 08 already.

There is almost no difference between the two of them at this point. They are both way in the wrong. -
Why would anybody do all of this over Orlando Cabrera? I mean seriously?

I think Uggla is on the block.

Like one party is somehow more or less corrupt than the other... And even if that were the case, how the hell would make that kind of evaluation? By how often somebody from either party is caught? That's a very accurate way to come such a conclusion! -
1. Titus Andronicus - The Airing of Grievances The only album from 2008 that I thought was greatness. It's up there with Sandanista!, New Day Rising, Pleased to Meet Me and The Body, The Blood, The Machine as my favorite punk albums ever. 2. The Hold Steady - Stay Positive It's not Separation Sunday or Almost Killed Me, but still a damn good Hold Steady record. 3. Portishead - Third Great comeback record for a pretty legendary band. This album is going to leave a huge mark on rap music, it already has started to. 4. Arms - Kids Aflame There wasn't much to write home about this year so a thoroughly enjoyable album like this sneaks in. 5. M83 - Saturdays = Youth <3 the 80's. My top 20 is in the music thread if you care.

“It starts with the taking over of South Ossetia and Abkhazia, which has already happened. It goes on to the destruction of the Georgian armed forces, which is now happening. The third [development] will probably be the replacement of the elected government, which is pro-Western, with a puppet government, which will probably follow in a week or two.” —Charles Krauthammer, Fox News, Aug. 11, 2008 ---------- This was a shockingly prevalent fear back in August among a lot of Americans. Russia is big and scary grrrr

Geography plays a fairly large role in modern music, look at The Smell in LA and all the bands that are coming out of there now.

I'd like a new guitar, but that'll probably have to come out of my own pocket. Besides, I enjoy buying other people gifts much more than I do recieving them.

A really underrated scene, even though it's not where it was back in the 80's with Prince, Husker Du and the Replacements. I'm not sure if you can call The Hold Steady a Minneapolis band, even though I think that's what they consider themselves in their songs.

What the hell is this? Jenks has been great the past 4 seasons, but man a fatty with screws in his arm telling us he's done proving himself? We gotta dump this guy, you know what happens when people get defensive like this.
-
So... Arne Duncan?

Return to Cookie Mountain had some decent songs on it, but they botched that one too with a retarded album format. Dear Science indeed is trash, and if any other band released something of that quality they'd get reamed. I was really excited for it too, I thought they were going a different direction after RtCM but they regressed into a group that I probably will never pay attention to again.
