  1. are you guys kidding? Did you see how long Ozzie thought about talking to that umpire? That was fascinating. I think right there Ozzie deciding not to do anything confirms that he is a great manager.
  2. per ESPN, the Jets have now unveiled the "TEBOW WILDCAT OFFENSE" not to be confused with the regular wildcat offense. Not since the Randy Ratio has the NFL needed to be more fearful of an offense
  3. Lastnight was Dempster's worst nightmare. That is the kind of results that will kill his next contract value. Shoulda stayed in the NL'
  4. QUOTE (OilCan @ Aug 2, 2012 -> 07:09 PM) Jim Thome? He didnt buy high on Thome. The Phillies paid the Sox a nice little chunk of the contract and took Rowand, Haigwood and Gio. And thought so little of Gio that that gave him back for sweaty freddy with Floyd
  5. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 2, 2012 -> 06:02 PM) I don't know what I want. I just think it's unfair a whole profession got labeled as scum when I know there are tons of good priests. Basically there are no more priests coming through the U.S. ranks. The profession has been ruined and I think it's unfair because the percentage of abusers is probably similar to the percentage of abusers in all professions where adults are in a position to prey on kids. I bet neither of us know the definition of "unfair" quite like those kids who were left in the protection of the church. The percentage doesnt matter, these other professions dont try and cover it up, that we know of. And if they do, and get caught, you know damn well they will be ridiculed just the same.
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 2, 2012 -> 05:31 PM) It is awful. Thing is, there also are many many youth coaches who are abusers. Any positions of power in which an adult can prey on kids, there are abusers. What exactly do you want, greg? You go from one point where you say you are sick of the media sensationalizing it with the Catholic church, and now what are you trying to say, you want them to move on to sensationalizing it about all youth athletics? Well here is where your argument falls through a hole, there isnt a systematic coverup within all youth athletics that allows these rogue POS coaches to continue doing these horrible things like there was within the catholic church. There was ONE university with ONE sicko that got away with what he did due to about 4 people(depending on what you believe) and their inaction. There was hundreds maybe thousands of priests that got away with what they did because the Catholic church covered it up. The comparison is horrible and it shouldnt even be made anymore. It doesnt fit. And before you even ask, I was born, raised and confirmed Catholic. I was absolutely horrified by what has been revealed and absolutely ashamed.
  7. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 2, 2012 -> 05:16 PM) Well it needs to continued to be covered then, because I want all molesters to rot. I want them dead by lethal injection and/or stuck in jail the rest of their lives where they will be abused as well. I guess I don't condone them being abused in jail but that is apparently what happens in prison so be it. I just want it recognized and pointed out nationally over and over that as not all coaches are molesters (like Sandusky) and cover up artists (like Paterno). Coach is not suddenly going to be thought of in disdain, yet the priest profession is OVA. The only ones remaining in America are oldies. The future of the Catholic Church in America will be priests coming over from India and maybe parishes sharing such priests. It saddens me. Such a terrible, terrible comparison. This wasnt one priest greg. This wasnt one act of coverup. Thousands. Thousands of lives shattered.
  8. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Aug 2, 2012 -> 03:40 PM) If Kenny doesn't make his annual claim on someone from the '96 Indians I'll be extremely disappointed. Thome and Vizquel are last men standing, no?
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 2, 2012 -> 01:38 PM) Where'd you get that part from? And no that's not surprising, if you take a hard blow to the head and are surrounded by attackers/on the ground, you might not even be coherent enough to attempt to defend yourself, especially if things happen quickly. Look, I wasnt there so obviously I dont know the whole story, but these guys are machines. They get hit for a living. I just cant imagine him getting knocked down and not getting up and going nuts. JMO Nothing ever good happens after midnight. Thats for sure
  10. Am i the only one who finds it weird that one of the best RBs in college football got jumped out of nowhere and A:he didnt appear to fight back, and B he said he did not know his attackers? Seems fishy
  11. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 2, 2012 -> 10:56 AM) Is it me, or has it seemed like ESPN has spent about 80% of their pre-season coverage on the Jets, 10% on the Saints and 10% for the rest of the league? MOAR SHIRTLESS TEBOW COVERAGE PLEASE
  12. Why sign Teague when you can have euroleague all star Patrick Beverley at a fraction of the price? /LOL@BULLSFO
  13. Proving he did it will be incredibly difficult. There is a good reason he has had that smug grin on his face for the last 4 years. It really is too bad Stacy hasnt been found yet.
  14. QUOTE (YASNY @ Aug 2, 2012 -> 02:11 AM) He's good at that stuff. What can you do? he mainlines twitter now. It is really sad. At first Jason tried to get him help, but he refused and said there was nothing wrong with him, he just did it for fun now and again. But now it is getting to the point where the admin and mod group are arranging an intervention. We are hoping to ween him off of twitter by giving him mild doses of myspage 3 times a day.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 09:21 PM) To be called "Alien"? I know you are joking, but the working title is "Paradise"
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 2, 2012 -> 05:46 AM) True, he could be another Kevin Maas or Shane Spencer. But he's an impact bat at the major league level in a way that Chris Getz, Jeremy Reed and Ryan Sweeney will never be. Gordon's really only had stretches of good play, the best being his rookie year. When someone's hitting in the .220's or .230's for their entire career in USCF, there's something wrong. Josh Fields would be perhaps a better comparison to Carter if Chris continues this through the remainder of the season. again, 180 ABs, and only 69 this season. In his first two shots at the bigs he hit .186 and .136, so lets hold off on declaring him the second best at anything just because he managed to have a nice 3rd attempt at the big league club.
  17. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 09:23 PM) Nope, Chris Carter is 2nd. Iguchi, Youkilis, DeAza all had/have good to great plate discipline. I love how you have jumped all over him based on 180 career ABs. I bet you were a big fan of Chris Shelton too. Sorry, "Babe" Shelton.
  18. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 09:57 PM) Would other teams claim him before he got to the Sox??? All these victories have us lower on the pecking order. You have to think with the 2nd wildcard now, there are a lot more teams that feel they are in it and would find Fontenot to be a nice bench player.
  19. Cabrera and Fielder both hit ridiculous home runs. I don't think either of them could be considered better than the other
  20. Lmao sqwert, you were freaking out like a teenager stood up on prom night
  21. QUOTE (sunofgold @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 05:58 PM) Well Blum is available to replace Olmedo. I am talking about players to replace Hudson. Jordan Dunks is untouchable right now. if you are talking about players to replace Hudson, why did you name two outfielders?
