    2011 TV Thread

you guys seem kind of surprised that "the book is better than the movie". That is the case 99 percent of the time, theatre of the mind makes everything better
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 18, 2011 -> 05:15 PM) I'm starting to wonder if Angelo is targeting linemen who he thinks have a chance to be top flight linemen, but he's always in the mdidle/latter part of the first round, so the only top flight line candidates he finds are ones who had an injury that can come back to bite them. i think Angelo's strategy is to try and find diamonds in the rough, period. He rarely takes the suggested or safe pick, he is constantly trading down and then drafting players above their suggested draft position(danielle manning, michael haynes, grossman), his idea of finding an OL the past few years has been extremely low draftees and then throw them at Tice to coach them up, or to draft players with injury history(carimi, williams) and cross his fingers. Brad Biggs posted this an hour or so ago on twitter : Current #Bears 53-man roster includes 8 players that were drafted in Rounds 1 thru 3 by GM Jerry Angelo from 2002 thru 2011. how many of the players NOT on the roster are still in the NFL? i bet not that many
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 18, 2011 -> 04:39 PM) One problem with the last 2 is that both of them were injuries that the player had suffered before (I don't know about the first). i want to say Columbo had knee injuries coming out of college too
  4. earl pays more because his fines double every week if he continues to be fashionista. last week 5k, this week 10k, next week 20k, week after that Jay stops paying his fines lol
  5. IIRC Columbo went out against either Dallas or St Louis(it was a dome team) and it was between the 4th and 6th game of the season. im probably 100 percent wrong edit: against the Rams on November 18th. i will never forget the slow mo replay of him getting rolled up and being able to see his knee dislocate in detail, it was horrific
  6. sad story of Griffin Kramers death http://bit.ly/rWSdLw
  7. that game was the NFL equivalent of the 2011 NCAA Mens BB championship game. I wanted to wash my eyeballs with bleach after it was over
  8. QUOTE (lostfan @ Nov 17, 2011 -> 10:58 PM) If anyone felt they gave excessive praise for Rex Ryan a few pages ago and would like to take the opportunity to temper it, now would be an appropriate time to do that LMAO
  9. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 17, 2011 -> 03:40 PM) Selective memory my ass. They were down 14-0 after three quarters. Completely out of the game. Rogers threw a terrible interception that would have made it 21-0. It was 14-7 and then immediately 21-7. They had a chance to tie the game but fell short. Again, a freakin' cock tease for the last 10 minutes. Otherwise it was near total domination. THEY WERE ONLY GOOD SOME OF THE TIME! AND OTHER TIMES THEY WERE BAD! THEY ALMOST TIED IT AND ALMOST CAME BACK BUT THEY DIDNT! AND THEY LOST, OK?!?! SO THAT PROVES MY POINT! DOMINATION
  10. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 17, 2011 -> 03:37 PM) Thanks Kyyle np lol
  11. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 17, 2011 -> 03:27 PM) If it's not luck I dunno what it is. You can't give Lovie props for beating a s***ty Seattle team to get into the NFC championship game. And don't forget, we're not even in that position if the league didn't steal a TD from Calvin Johnson in week 1 (fluke!) And the Bears had no shot at beating GB. They were a cock tease for 3 hours. That's it. LMAO. double stamp
  12. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Nov 17, 2011 -> 03:23 PM) Free agents in general are a bad idea. The Eagles are a perfect example. yeah yeah yeah 90 percent of the Packers team was drafted by Green Bay. WE KNOW ALREADY!!! j/k
  13. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 17, 2011 -> 03:20 PM) There's no good reason the Bears couldn't have spent more money to lure a big FA QB at some point over the last 5 decades. Same with the WR position. 5 decades? Are we talking about your beef with the Angelo/Lovie regime or with the Organization? Because your argument is splintering to another direction now
  14. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 17, 2011 -> 03:05 PM) Eh, I can't put them dead last, but they certainly should be spending more money and making changes more frequently. Angelo and his team should have been fired long ago. spending more money doesnt make these situations better. Spending it smartly does. Angelo has treated the OL and WR core like a red headed stepchild but it is hard to argue against his spending elsewhere
  15. QUOTE (HeGone33 @ Nov 17, 2011 -> 02:51 PM) It's funny how when that happened everyone said that Harbaugh was the idiot, now everyone is starting to see Shwartz for what he is......... I never thought Harbaugh was the idiot, It was plainly obvious that Schwartz was being a b****. Im just giving you a hard time. The Lions were a nice story, then they puffed their chests and the 49ers smacked them, then the Bears smacked them down. I would not be surprised at all if they pull a late season swoon considering they still have the Packers to play twice as well as the Saints. The Chargers, Vikings and Oakland could give them fits too, all of those teams have good running games
  16. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Nov 17, 2011 -> 02:45 PM) I forgot about the Philip Rivers and Jay Cutler love fest. Should be interresting to see if they say anything to each other. They have been pretty quiet about it and dismissive in interviews. I bet they talk to each other pre game and Fox gets a shot of it and there is a lot of innuendo and nonsense made of it by the broadcasters
  17. QUOTE (HeGone33 @ Nov 17, 2011 -> 02:32 PM) I meniotned previously I watch all their games as well as Bear games, and they aren't just 2005 Bears-ish, they win exactly the same way the Bears do now. They rely on defense first, they have above average special teams with probably the best returner besides Hester in Ginn, and they have the one of the best takeaway/turnover ratios, and best average starting field position to oppenents starting.....that is all very similar to the Bears...... And their coach gets in silly fights with the Lions! There ya go!
  18. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Nov 17, 2011 -> 11:36 AM) I'm surprised to see the Astros going to the AL, although I hadn't really heard of any other team being moved. no other team needs to be moved. There are now 5 teams in the AL West and 5 teams in the NL Central Is this move effective immediately?
  19. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 17, 2011 -> 10:40 AM) And followed that up with By your guys' logic Tebow should be considered a good QB. He makes bad to terrible QB decisions, and he can't really throw the ball, but hey he prays a lot and gets his guys motivated to play for him and just wins! right, because Tebow has an 8 year history where he "lucked" into a superbowl, nfc chamionship game and playoff appearances. totally perfect analogy.
  20. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 17, 2011 -> 09:49 AM) All i've said is that he's not "good" like people are claiming. He's "average." Which means that any "good" coach would/would have done better. thats really not what you said at all
  21. QUOTE (HeGone33 @ Nov 17, 2011 -> 09:38 AM) I don't think it shuts a team down either, but you add elements such as cold and snow, along with the fact their defense is as solid as it is, and it can be pretty effective. The games you mention statistacally were the best, I was most impressed with what they did vs. the Giants offense, especially in the 4th quarter on Sunday. Check out the injury reports for other teams after having playing agains that defense too. werent the giants missing Bradshaw as well as their top 2 wide recievers?
  22. QUOTE (HeGone33 @ Nov 16, 2011 -> 03:45 PM) Not sure how being down 14 going into the 4th is kicking anyones ass, but okay....... We could go back and forth all day long, bottom line is it's going to be 49ers vs. Packers the the NFC Championship......so enjoy the silly fights with the Lions.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 16, 2011 -> 01:24 PM) BTW, different topic but worth throwing here in case more comes of it. Bunch of NY Giants, in addition to some supposedly unnamed basketball players, were at a club in NYC last night where someone was shot and killed. One of them was named as Carlos Boozer
