QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Nov 30, 2011 -> 11:38 AM) http://basketball.about.com/od/nba-vs-nbap...t-Contracts.htm It's a one-time option, but can be used any year in the CBA. hmm, my friend was telling me that this also is limited to contracts signed before the current CBA as well. So the Bulls theoretically couldnt sign JRich to a 4 year contract and amnesty/waive the contract the following season.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 30, 2011 -> 08:52 AM) f*** Duke. I'm so tired of the ESPN hype machine for them. It must be really tough to recruit when you have loaded schedules and a national cable network pimping you 24/7. Anyone see too that ESPN has a "national college basketball blog" and a "north carolina blog?" What the f*** is that about? cough*theheatindex*cough

Syracuse Horror Story
QUOTE (Tex @ Nov 30, 2011 -> 07:28 AM) I didn't see it, I am only reading this excerpt. It sounds like he is saying he doesn't know of any, but realizes an investigation might show what happened while he was in charge. And investigating people that work under you is probably not his omost people's jobs. I keep thinking about people that I supervised and would I have known what they do in their off time. A real world analogy to a head basketball coach just doesnt apply. These people are together 24/7/365. Recruiting, planning, coaching, games, practices. All the time. Plus, he has been with Fine for 36 years. Dont you think it would be odd to you that someone you know insisted that these kids room with them everytime you go on a road trip? Seems odd to me

QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 29, 2011 -> 05:30 PM) I am not a martz fan, but clearly more than 1 receiver that can run a route AND catch the ball, would be more ideal for that offense. I understand the personnel is not the best in the WR department, but we see many examples week in week out where he totally outsmarts himself and goes away from the true weapon of the offense, his running backs. He ran Forte 12 times and Barber 10 times against Oakland. If the quarterback is rattled and throwing stupid interceptions, and as you say the wide receivers suck, then why run a pass happy offense? And it isn't as if this is the first time he pulled that s*** and it cost the Bears.

QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 29, 2011 -> 05:18 PM) I know that's a joke, but I think Tice would be a good OC. We just never gave martz the personnel he needed to succeed, basically only 1 team in history has... and Tice would be a much better fit. I dont know that Tice would be a good OC, he has really only been an offensive line coach and head coach his entire career. And if the personnel that Martz needs to succeed is all HOF-worthy offensive players, then thats just too bad.

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Nov 29, 2011 -> 04:47 PM) Knowing the Bears franchise I'd imagine that Mike Tice would become our next OC. I don't know if that is a good or bad thing. yea baby, here comes the Roy Ratio- Official 2011-2012 NFL Thread
QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Nov 29, 2011 -> 03:50 PM) From Rotoworld: Bears OC Mike Martz is reportedly interested in the head-coaching vacancy at Arizona State. Martz spent nine seasons as the Sun Devils' QBs/WRs coach (1983, 1986-87) and offensive coordinator (1984, 1988-91). He's in the final year of his contract with the Bears, having rejected an extension last offseason. Martz's 2012 exit wouldn't be bad news for the Bears fantasy options other than teacher's pet Roy Williams, who wouldn't be invited back. Im not looking forward to the next OC search charade, but it is looking like time for a clean break for both parties- Sox trying to move Thornton
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Nov 29, 2011 -> 11:51 AM) Yes I am too, plus ths idea of Matt being traded to just dump salary and/or get some class A prospect is very shortsighted. Matt is one of the premier left handed set up men in the game. He is prime trade bait and if we do move him we should get a good return. But, I would rather see Frasor or Ohman be the trade bait.- Official 2011-2012 NFL Thread
QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 29, 2011 -> 10:41 AM) Which absolutely should happen. Nobody in jax will even notice. The 2nd largest market in the country without a football team is a joke. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 29, 2011 -> 10:24 AM) And the Jags are being sold to a Pakistani businessman from Urbana, UIUC grad. He had tried to buy the Rams 2 years ago, says he will keep the team in JAX. he will probably pull a stunt like the Oklahoma City Thunder did to Seattle. give the city an ultimatum that is very hard to meet, then say "look at this new facility they are offering in LA...... see ya"- Official 2011-2012 NFL Thread

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 29, 2011 -> 06:29 AM) So who is available that would provide better floor spacing at the 2 and is available for the MLE or for what the Bulls have to trade? Yeah there might be some surprises in the RFA pool, but at this point we ought to have a good guess about who will be out there, and I'm struggling to see a better option. McGrady basically put up his career average shooting %ages last year, 34% from 3. Not great, but right at his career mark. I think adding him makes the Bulls better than doing nothing, and I'm still waiting to see who else people would say that about. Why does not signing McGrady = doing nothing? There are better options out there, and the Bulls have become an attractive team to free agents again. I think I am going to let the free agents assemble themselves and see what is available before I wed myself to a guy who is extremely injury prone and is also a pretty selfish basketball player with no interest in defense. And those last two descriptions are pretty much the antithesis to a Thibodeau player- 2011 Films Thread
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 28, 2011 -> 03:54 PM) Dark Knight Rises prediction: read if you want your mind blown. Ok, since I saw the first teaser, one thing really stayed with me... the fact that Gordon is in the hospital, and being spoken to by Bruce Wayne (in his voice) who may also be in the hospital. The name of the film is Dark Knight Rises. This clearly alludes to coming back from something. Bane is in this movie. Christopher Nolan likes realism. Bane is going to break Batman/Bruce's back to start the film. This will end Bruce's tenure as Batman. However, Joseph Gordon-Levitt is playing a random cop about whom we know absolutely nothing... and that has to be on purpose. My prediction is that the movie will result in JGL "rising" as a new Batman. I believe Nolan has even stated something like this will be the end of his "Batman Bruce Wayne story"... very careful statement there. I'm sure I'm way off, but if this winds up true I want someone to remember I typed it up. JGL could be Nolans version of Azrael- Official 2011-2012 NFL Thread
QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 28, 2011 -> 03:05 PM) What is it about 2nd and shorts in the red zone and Caleb Hanie as QB that causes mike martz to run the most assinine plays that have such a small chance at succeeding? Its just Martz in the red zone, period. He just out thinks himself. We just have Cutler who can play over Martz making bad calls- Syracuse Horror Story
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 28, 2011 -> 01:28 PM) Is the quality of the recording already released good enough that independent audio experts are likely going through it to see if they can be the one to announce it's a fraud? I dont know, but in the original articles it was stated that a person was hired to verify the authenticity of the voice on the recording and it was confirmed to be Laurie Fine- Syracuse Horror Story

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 28, 2011 -> 12:43 PM) So out of curiosity, do they have any legal obligation to report the incident because the tape they received? I think we are all learning the obcene hard way that reporting these things is nobodies responsibility but the victim. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 28, 2011 -> 11:37 AM) Ok, not the 2nd part, but the first part seems very, very odd. Especially the failure to report on the part of the national press organization...you can't tell me that they're in the pocket of "Big Orange" and expect me to believe that. You cant tell me that the State Attorney knew about Jerry Sandusky raping children and covered it up so he could run for Governer and expect me to believe that. Oh wait, yes you can- Syracuse Horror Story

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 28, 2011 -> 08:06 AM) Well, if the Bulls wanted to see if he had anything left in the tank, he did play 72 games for the 'Stons last year. Of course, he was also playing for the Pistons, which doesn't make anyone look good right now. Either way, I'd rather have whichever guard the Pistons use their amnesty clause on. They have several options. Really? the 'Stons? That is pretty lame - Official 2011-2012 NFL Thread
