QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Oct 10, 2011 -> 03:35 PM) Well yeah, that's James Earl Jones. No idea who the chick is though. LOL, I think you are missing the whole "Twice they played the characters of African Royalty" angle that Iwritecode is referring to here.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 9, 2011 -> 06:49 PM) I get what you are saying but it sounds like he was pretty influential & smart back in the 60s & 70s. He got crazy recently, but he had some successful teams and helped form the league we know today. I had no idea. Yeah, he engineered the merger of the AFL and NFL. And he pretty much held every position possible within a football team, from scout to owner -

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 9, 2011 -> 06:30 PM) Is there any receiver in football that makes more absurd catches than Brandon Lloyd? too bad it took him so damn long to figure his s*** out. It would have been nice to see that kind of production while he was a bear -
i dont know if it was mentioned in the blockbuster/netflix discussion, but Blockbuster is sending an email to anyone who tried their online service and also offering to new subscribers the first month free

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 6, 2011 -> 12:51 PM) I doubt anyone wasn't giddy. Didn't we score 65 runs in the 1st game? Yes. and Dunn threw a trident into a bears chest on the field. It was glorious -
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 6, 2011 -> 12:38 PM) I picture the warden from "Ernest Goes to Jail". Man, I was obsessed with Ernest movies as a kid. ooooh film thread discussion fodder right there.

QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Oct 6, 2011 -> 10:46 AM) If JR can't resign Buehrle because of the 5 or so mil more Q will cost next year then he should sell the team. And he wouldn't be stealing time if him and Vic play the corners with Rios/Aza in CF. Edit- And please don't confuse my stance on this as some sort of retarded "he makes people smile in restaurants". I wanted Q traded last deadline, but now I'd rather just ride it out and hope Dunn, Peavy, and Beckham remember how to not suck and our lineup becomes Aza/Beckham/Q/Dunn/PK/Dayan/Alexei/C/Morel. these statements make me laugh -

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 6, 2011 -> 08:32 AM) I get the Packers have to do what they have to do to continue on, but I don't understand why people think Favre needed to be best friends with Rogers or be 100% perfect in everything he says about the guy. At the end of the day he's the guy that took the reigns from the franchise you helped build in the 90's and 00's. And SS, yeah Favre didn't handle it well. That's why I don't really want to defend his actions. But IMO when he says he's ready to go, even if that's the day before training camp begins, well, you let him play. He's earned that right. That'd be my view if I were the GM. Unfortunately, as a GM you cannot be caught in this position with your pants down, and the GB front office was not. I just dont agree that he earned the right to put his team in that situation, wondering if your QB was going to retire or not and hoping that he doesnt so your team isnt submarined on the eve of training camp. Too much planning goes into a NFL season to allow for that kind of a wildcard for that many years. And it is hard to blame Nichols/Werner when Favre is doing all of those corny interviews and dragging it out in the media. Lets be honest here, he was a media whore, and still is. He pulled that retirement bit for 6 years, not one, not two, not three. 6. It is really hard to defend anything Brett ever did, he loves the spotlight and shined it on himself as much as he could -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 4, 2011 -> 11:44 PM) Making it to the dance and losing to the same team at home two years in a row doesn't normally make for happy fans. Me thinks there are some Maddon haters tonight in Florida. If anybody truly cares down there which is debatable. Methinks you are doing everything you can to prove to us that trading Ozzie was the wrong thing. Mealsothinks your comparisons are so offbase that we cannot help but think that you arent really watching the games, but rather watching for a shot of Ozzie in the dugout so you can cheer him on. Mealsoalsothinks this is a tired excercise of yours that has been proven wrong time and time and time and methinks time again. Methinks

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 5, 2011 -> 03:19 AM) But my point is if Ozzie does that and we lose the series, that is remembered as THE DECISION that cost us the series. We couldn't overcome that decision by Oz. Just as many people still think our whole season was defined by Juan's 2 muffs in April. I say look around, all the losing managers are catching big-time heat. I say look at Ozzie. He quit on the team for more money

Pisa was a monster in St Louis before his knee started acting up. He knows the system, and the Bears are pretty thin at the LB position right now, I am all for this. Now if we could only convince them to bring in Max Starks..... -
QUOTE (oldsox @ Oct 4, 2011 -> 09:43 AM) This out of towner does not get this. Please explain. Not only did he get taken in a ponzi scheme, but he also dragged a bunch of his buddies along with him. They wanted to start this Webio(radio on the web, haha get it?) thing, and a bunch of sports talk hosts went with him and were all out of jobs within something like 3-6 months. And they stopped getting paid pretty quick. So, it was pretty hilarious when North shortly thereafter started a show on CBS called "Monsters and Money" in the morning where he would talk money management and sports in an hour show. In April 2009, North recruited his friend of over 15 years,[2] the convicted wire fraud felon, David Hernandez, to finance a webcasting company focused on Chicago sports.[3]

I watched a video of Alberto Del Rio fighting Mirko Cro Cop in the Pride promotion back in the day(as Dos Caras Jr). He got KO-ed in 46 seconds from a kick to the head. Prior to the video there was an interview of him, and i was surprised that his grasp on the english language was much better than his promos show

guys, i think we should just relax. North probably has some quality financial advise for JR. and he also knows of a guy that Jerry can invest all of his money with.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 3, 2011 -> 06:29 PM) REALLY getting tired of Netflix recently. It seems that every other DVD I get is scratched so minutely that it hardly even shows, but prevents the movie from playing. The worst part is that it always happens closer to the end of the movie, so I have to wait an extra couple of days just to finish it and further delay my next DVD. Is Blockbuster any better? I'm completely serious about changing this. I can't even stand it anymore. i dont know about the quality of the discs, but the catalog is bigger
