QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 21, 2011 -> 12:48 PM) Bah. 3rd most accurate kicker of all time, in Chicago, is f***ing impressive. If he keeps it up for another 6-7 years there's no reason Gould shouldn't be a candidate. Thought that was an interesting presser by Lovie. Are the Bears just trying to keep the fanbase hopeful that Jay will return? Or do they really think it'll only be 5-6 weeks at most? Odd that they didn't give much detail about where the fracture is/what kind of surgery he's going to need. thats not odd, that is straight out of the lovie smith handbook. he is rarely specific about injuries and time on the IR

QUOTE (HeGone33 @ Nov 21, 2011 -> 10:41 AM) This is the NFL thread right? Where does it say Bears thread? I watch all Bear games and 49er games so why can't I have an opinion? My opinion unlike most isn't really that bias. You aren't going to hear my say the 49ers will beat the Pack, or go to the superbowl.....I'm a realist...but when you say the Bears are playing as good as anyone, I'm sorry, I beg to differ gmab, you are going out of your way to try and get people to argue with you that the 49ers are the second best team in the league. i dont see anyone questioning that

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 20, 2011 -> 03:49 PM) I watched The Green Lantern last night. Felt like seeing a mindless action movie. It wasn't horrible, but it sure seemed like it was done in fast forward. That probably helped it to be much more bearable. That is pretty much what I said when I watched it. It wasnt bad, but it was soooo rushed that it ruined anything it had going for it

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 20, 2011 -> 02:35 PM) Bengals suddenly don't look so hot now that they are facing some real competition. Very impressive performance for the Buccs so far, although I still expect GB to pull out the victory. Packers are going to win, but they are not escaping unscathed. Starks just helped off the field, looked pretty bad

White Sox trade rumor
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Nov 20, 2011 -> 09:08 AM) Conveniently when they were out of it. Thornton's a valuable set up man, but everyone thinks he's better than his results show him to be because of his 95-97 mph fastball. You thought they were out of it in February, so of course you would say that. His June and July were pretty damn good

QUOTE (daa84 @ Nov 20, 2011 -> 08:04 AM) Im not sure it mattered because Vandy would have likely lost anyways, but im not sure how the Refs in the UT-vandy game can get away with what happened on the last play of the game. UT picks off Jordan Rodgers, and returns it for a TD. Play was CLEARLY whistled and signaled dead by the linesman who mistakenly thought his knee was down (his knee was clearly not down, but it shouldn't matter because the play was blown dead). So the ruling is that he is down, not that it was a TD. If the player is ruled down, which he was, the play is unreviewable by definition because a whistle blew stopping play. This was the initial call by the refs Somehow, the refs review the play, determine the knee was not down, and over the PA system to the second biggest stadium in college football, the ref Lies to everyone, and says there was never any whistle, and never any signal that the play was dead (even though this was their initial on the field ruling, and replays clearly confirm it), and they say it was a TD. They reviewed and play they knew was unreviewable, and then lied about not blowing the whistle, all because they knew the initial on the field call was wrong. SEC officials released this statement afterwards... "On the last play of the Vanderbilt-Tennessee game, in overtime, the Tennessee defender intercepted the pass, his knee did not touch the ground and he returned the interception for a touchdown. During the play, the head linesman incorrectly ruled that the Tennessee player's knee was down when he intercepted the pass by blowing his whistle and giving the dead ball signal. The play was reviewed as if there was no whistle on the field and as a result, overturned the incorrect ruling. By rule, if there was a whistle blown, the play is not reviewable." I really think its an absolutely unacceptable move by the officials who should IMO be suspended the rest of the year I thought the referee work in the USC-Oregon game was pretty shoddy too. Did you see Barkley get called for intentionally grounding when his reciever ran the wrong route? Or the running into the kicker penalty that negated a blocked field goal? It was really bad, im pretty sure Ed Hochuli's son was the head ref

QUOTE (MAX @ Nov 19, 2011 -> 07:42 PM) I've never heard that before. Regardless, what you said was misleading to the average fan, as you didn't specify which it was and the term is much more commonly associated with a kick. If this were a boxing match you would be well understood instead of vague and confusing regarding the type of strike thrown. Part of me wonders if you are just hoping for a response like mine so you have a chance to be a smart ass in a vain effort to sound knowledgable. Alternatively, perhaps you were just offended about being misunderstood. I'm not sure which is the case but you may want to focus on being clearer in the future. Get over yourself, I could care less what you think. I said what happened and you want to get all terminology nazi on me. Grow up

2011 TV Thread
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 19, 2011 -> 12:18 PM) They mentioned nothing about it being the final season. In fact, they went the opposite way by having the president (or something similar) of Showtime saying that the show is more popular than ever. I think that shows that they plan on running this thing, with the same tired storyline, over and over until people stop watching. I finally got around to seeing the most recent episode, and I also loved the American Gothic reference. They have to have some sort of end in mind, the story has to conclude with Dexter being caught, dying, or completely walking away.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 18, 2011 -> 05:15 PM) I'm starting to wonder if Angelo is targeting linemen who he thinks have a chance to be top flight linemen, but he's always in the mdidle/latter part of the first round, so the only top flight line candidates he finds are ones who had an injury that can come back to bite them. i think Angelo's strategy is to try and find diamonds in the rough, period. He rarely takes the suggested or safe pick, he is constantly trading down and then drafting players above their suggested draft position(danielle manning, michael haynes, grossman), his idea of finding an OL the past few years has been extremely low draftees and then throw them at Tice to coach them up, or to draft players with injury history(carimi, williams) and cross his fingers. Brad Biggs posted this an hour or so ago on twitter : Current #Bears 53-man roster includes 8 players that were drafted in Rounds 1 thru 3 by GM Jerry Angelo from 2002 thru 2011. how many of the players NOT on the roster are still in the NFL? i bet not that many
