QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 31, 2011 -> 08:10 AM) I think the Colts have an easier pick than the Rams do. I think they take him for sure. I know my father is no professional athlete, but the neck surgery he had 9 years ago reduced him to a shell of his former self. He cant feel his fingers, gets shooting pains down his arms, cant sleep well. its bad news. Say Miami and Indy end the season 0-fer, how is the pick decided? It cant be SOS if both of them lost every game -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 31, 2011 -> 08:04 AM) Rogers was a mid-20's pick who a lot of people thought had serious mechanical issues coming out of college. Having Rogers start right away was an invitation to turning him into Alex Smith. Having Luck sit for 3 years is a complete waste...he ought to be starting by day 1 in the league. LOL, ok. So you say. Indy has a tough decision to make, and they have to trust Peyton will be honest with them. Once you f*** with the neck, it doesnt get better for you, It only becomes a manageable situation. Peytons profession could make that situation ten times worse in one hit -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 31, 2011 -> 08:01 AM) I could actually see them trading Bradford. You get Luck then, and a s***load of other picks and/or players. yeah, but they will never get back that money they paid him upfront(50 mil in guarantees), and then they will be turning around and paying Luck a similar chunk of money. I think St Louis could do it, but it would be a really tough decision to make. Plus, you look at Bradfords season this year, and you wonder what the return would be for an often injured, extremely inconsistent QB that hasnt really done anything yet at the NFL level -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 31, 2011 -> 07:53 AM) If the Colts get that pick, I think they'd seriously consider moving him. The price would be high, but someone would probably pay it. Like "2 firsts, 2 2nds, 2 3rds" high...but if you've got Manning, and the medics tell you he will be back next year and he has 5 more years in his career...I'd do that trade. Andrew Luck is not going to be an asset sitting on the bench for 4 years. Rodgers sat for 3, and I think we all can see that he probably could have come in sooner and played competently, if not very well. Peyton Mannings injury really isnt something a doctor can put a timetable on, especially with spinal stenosis in his family with Cooper. My dad had the exact same surgery as Manning and shortly thereafter developed stenosis, and there really isnt anything you can do about it. Sometimes your body just does weird things. I think if the Colts manage the 1st round pick, they take Luck and hope they can squeeze a few years out of Peyton with Luck learning from him. And if Peyton cannot go, then Luck is there and you dont have to watch Painter and Collins flounder around a few more years. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 31, 2011 -> 07:41 AM) I can't see anyone trading Luck. Even if Indy were to get him, they keep him. It would be a tough pill to swallow for St Louis after all of the money they threw at Sam Bradford. -
There was a lot done in Dexter last night to throw us off the idea that EJM is a dark passenger or figment of Colin Hanks imagination. I still think he is, but I thought it was very odd when I still think that he is a dark passenger, but I think he is more of a split personality a la Tyler Durden.

QUOTE (zenryan @ Oct 30, 2011 -> 06:31 PM) new coaches and no offseason workouts will make a bad QB look even worse. i have no arguments that he is a bad QB. I fully believe that. I also think he is a big part of Denvers "Suck for Luck" campaign. They just need to hope that Miami catches fire and pulls out a few games -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 30, 2011 -> 06:11 PM) Didn't denver fire their coach/offensive coordinator and bring in a whole new system this year? (Yes). Everyone out there could have predicted he'd take time to develop even if he'd fallen to the 3rd round in the draft like he probably should have (just to take the pressure off of him). Yes, he has lots of flaws, yes he shouldn't have been a first round pick, but yes, Denver needs to shut up, stop talking about him, answer every question with "He's a young quarterback and these things will take time." sometimes you argue so much just to argue, its ridiculous. everyone needs to shut up and stop talking about him because there is nothing to talk about. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 30, 2011 -> 05:57 PM) Hell, he's close enough that I don't care. I'll think of Viciedo as a rookie next year and technically he wasn't a rookie this year. Denver made their own bed, now they need to sleep in it. But if they're smart, they'll start fighting against "Tebowmania" every step of the way. Every bad game he has is going to get so incredibly magnified because there is such polarization about him...I don't know that any QB has ever had to deal with anything like that before. All of last week was Tebow as a miracle worker, it will be the complete opposite this week, and it will grate on the entire team. Viciedo is a poor comparison. Tebow spent all last season at the NFL level and started games last season. he shouldnt be raw, he should have a grasp of the offense now if he ever will. it is pretty obvious now that his flaws are being exposed and teams are going to force him to throw, which he is pretty bad at. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 30, 2011 -> 05:49 PM) He's a very raw rookie. I'd avoid judging him for a season or two. except for the fact he isnt a rookie -

The Dodgers/McCourt have asked the courts if Stow should be held liable in the beating that left him in a coma http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/mlb/story/_...s-blame-beating I know this is probably normal, but it sure doesnt paint the Dodgers/McCourt in a good light

2011-2012 OFFICIAL NBA LOCKOUT thread
Kyyle23 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Just out of curiosity, if this World Tour happened and one of the major stars had some crazy injury happen to them(think Shaun Livingston), do you think that they would be subject to having their contracts voided when the NBA resumed? -
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Oct 26, 2011 -> 01:53 PM) Coach Ditka says "losers and cowards live in the past my friend!" always an ironic quote coming from a guy still living well off the 85 team

IMO The Big Lebowski should not be on this list. Bowling is just a backdrop of the movie, it isnt the focus of the movie. Superman Returns isnt a sports movie just because he saves a plane from crashing into a baseball game. I love the movie, but it does not belong here

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 26, 2011 -> 09:00 AM) Wait, does this mean that the Bulls reporter has so little to do that they've assigned him to sit at the airport and see what Cubs-related people enter the city? They have him doing all kinds of stuff. He has been covering the blackhawks too. Gotta make the man earn his money

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Oct 25, 2011 -> 11:06 PM) I really want to see "Time In". Love the idea. lol. When you reverse it, it looks like it should be a Ben Stiller movie about the game of freeze tag
