QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 03:39 PM) I'd probably keep the same continuity unless the actor has gotten too expensive. The fact that SM3 was a debacle isn't because that plot line has nothing going for it, it was because whoever thought up the dancing/down the street scene needs to be removed from the Gene Pool Tobey McGuire got 26 million dollars for SM3. Do you think he would ask for less this time? And after Raimi deliberately torpedoed Venom because he didnt care for the character, I wasnt too sad to see him walk away. Anyhow, with all comics, there are infinite storylines with many different writers and perspectives. This one is a slight different take on the character, with a different love interest that doesnt require a write-out of MJ, and gives the director and main characters a chance to do their own thing. This reboot is getting the same reaction some of the same people gave when the X Men First Class trailer came out, and a lot of people that trashed the trailer(OMGZ CGI SO BAD JUST CANT STANDS IT) ended up liking the movie

the movie isnt needed, per say, but the studio wanted another spiderman movie and raimi/mcguire backed out due to studio interference. so you get a new director, do you really want him to follow the previous disaster of sm3 and keep the same continuity, or do you want him to make his own movie? and ALL spiderman movies have uncle ben/aunt may in them some how. thats a lame criticism. the cgi was corny, so was the teaser for the original ironman, so was the original spiderman, as well as thor. those movies seemed to work

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 01:29 PM) That looked like a made for SyFy channel movie to me to be perfectly honest. the rooftop scene did, certainly. but it is a teaser for a movie that comes out a year from now, that part will probably get better. the rest of it looked fine

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 01:30 PM) Ugh, OUT. Do we need a reboot of a movie that came out less than 10 years ago? Like, say, Batman Begins?

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 06:27 PM) Storyline only Sean Waltman tweeted the following, clarifying his Triple H-Vince McMahon tweet from last night: “To clarify my tweet last night. Raw last night was real on a symbolic level.” Last night, Waltman wrote that the storyline on TV was “real.” It should be noted that Vince McMahon is still the “head man in charge”. Triple H has NOT taken over the company. He will eventually take over for Vince but that hasn’t happened yet, reports the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Triple H is basically being ‘groomed’ to take over along with Stephanie McMahon. We noted several months ago that HHH had been learning the “ins and outs” of the company at Titan Towers. He’s also taken more of a ‘management’ role at TV tapings. Monday’s RAW saw Triple H take the reigns from Vince in storyline. yeah i know this was storyline level right now, but its out there now, people know HHH and Stephanie are assuming the controls. this could be a huge and lengthy storyline that could dovetail with CM Punk's storyline. hopefully it isnt rushed. i somewhat disagree with critic that last night was bad coming off the CM Punk match. this story needs to be told correctly, i think last night was the beginning of chapter 1

QUOTE (The Critic @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 06:26 PM) Don't you mean "sports entertainment heaven"?? i seriously considered saying he would be going to Harts Dungeon, but thought i would be nice

Vince is 65 years old, Im sure this has been in the works for quite some time and he just wants to step back and be the small part time megalomaniac character and just bounce from island to island until he goes to the great wrestling heaven in the sky

Official 2011-2012 NFL Thread
Kyyle23 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
john harbaugh goes on waddle and silvy and is still complaining about the draft day non-trade between the bears and ravens. someone correct me if i am wrong, didnt the ravens do the same thing to the vikings? -
Doc looked really bad, just totally off. I was pretty surprised to see his numbers when the temp is 90 degrees and higher, his era goes a full run higher

this will be an interesting power structure if they keep vince off tv for a while

i interpreted that to mean that pittsburgh was looking at the Royals since he was talking about Francouer and Cabrera being moved, earlier tonite

QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jul 18, 2011 -> 03:59 PM) But that's the thing....if all the behind the scenes s*** was real, he wouldn't have won the match. If he was leaving the WWE, he wouldn't have won the belt last night so it's all just a storyline. If it was real it'd be cool I agree, but the fact that he won the belt means it's all just a part of the story. In case you havent noticed, all of us in this thread know it is fake. WWE Wrestling is a shoot industry and always has been. We want quality storylines, quality promos, and quality wrestling/performances. All three of these areas have been noticeably lacking in the past 10 or so years with an exception here and there(most of HBKs big works, Rock coming back, Flairs retirement). Punk got our attention, and has kept our attention for the better part of a month now, which is actually quite a while in the WWE nowadays. There was real elements to the story, Punk has been very vocal about being unhappy with his character development, and frankly he said some stuff a few weeks ago that could have gotten most WWE wrestlers fired on the spot. Vince (smartly) noticed that it gained a lot of steam and a lot of attention, and capitalized on pretty much every bit of it. And we all loved it. So, coming in here and saying "You know its all part of the story, right?" is kind of like going into the TV thread and saying "you know that Seinfeld show wasnt real, right?". Of course we know. It is a show, it is entertainment, and even though a lot of us have sworn we wont be sucked back in(Brian cough cough), we arent going anywhere

QUOTE (The Critic @ Jul 18, 2011 -> 02:05 PM) Cena was right when he said people will be talking about this for years, but he has very little to do with it other than being the right "hated face" for Punk to vanquish. He's been a passenger - Punk's driving this car. I read that after the PPV went off the air, Vince waited around for Johnny Ace to be helped up the ramp, then decked him with (reportedly) a very stiff right and walked out. Even THAT is very satisfying. So far, there is nothing to complain about with the way creative has handled this. Oh, and that video of Punk and Cena's entrances was hilarious! That pop made him seem like Punk Hogan! when they zoomed on Punks face you could tell he was almost overwhelmed. He was super pumped up, and he usually enters with that "devil may care" look on his face

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 18, 2011 -> 11:34 AM) They also picked Manny up too late as I recall. Wasn't it 1-2 series too late? We faceplanted before his arrival as I recall He was on the DL, it didnt matter. We would have faceplanted with or without him

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 18, 2011 -> 11:28 AM) I mean during the season I guess. Manny is not a significant addition. Why not tweak before it's too late? This lineup is anemic and time is running short. Free Dayan at least. Manny was SUPPOSED to be a significant addition. obviously minus the roids, he was not, but that doesnt mean the Sox were just picking up someone who was supposed to be a bench player. And still, during the season KW has tinkered plenty. Maybe not this season(yet), but he has done plenty of things during the season.

Amazing match. Had a little bit of montreal screwjob, a little bit of Edge cashing his MITB vs Cena, it was a long yet interesting match, and the crowd was just insane
-
The pop that Punk got and the heat that Cena got during their intros was unreal

Marmol on the bloc, should the Sox be calling?
Kyyle23 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
could you imagine the gamethread meltdown if Marmol walked the bases loaded on 13 pitches, then turned a 3-0 game into a 6-3 loss? It would be epic. Greg would be epic too -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 17, 2011 -> 09:28 AM) •According to executives polled by Sherman, only the Giants and Tigers could afford to take on all of Carlos Beltran's remaining salary, among potentially interested clubs. If the Mets paid most or all of the cost, teams like the Indians, Diamondbacks, Pirates, Red Sox, Phillies, and Braves would all be in play. •Beltran is on the Angels' radar as well... That would give the Indians an outfield of Brantley, Sizemore, Choo and Beltran. With the Tigers, Boesch, Austin Jackson and Ordonez/Beltran. Beltran could also take AB's away from an ailing Austin Jackson, theoretically, and play CF. except Choo is out until September at the earliest with a broken thumb
