White Sox vs Rockies First Pitch 2:10 CT
Kyyle23 replied to Kyyle23's topic in 2011 Season in Review
QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jun 30, 2011 -> 09:00 AM) Lefties are hitting Cook at a .410 / .444 / .590 pace this year. So you are calling what, 3 or 4 strikeouts from Dunn? /green. or maybe not green -
come on White Sox, lets show that you can score a few more runs and make sure Peavy doesnt have to be perfect.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 05:19 PM) See: Kyle's avatar. dont hate on the ice man lol

last year he was pretty bad. the cubs left him off the postseason roster just like the cardinals did. he just has bad second halves, always has

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 08:15 PM) I thought Loaiza was terrible after his magical season with the Sox? You know how much I despise Suppan though. One thing Duncan is great at is getting his pitchers to use the sinker. Pineiro was amazing with the Cards. i did too, but i looked at his baseball reference page, and it wasnt nearly as bad as i thought it would be. aside from his last season numbers, he was a effective 5th starter.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 07:42 PM) Fell off the next season...unlike Loaiza and Contreras. loaiza pitched effectively for 5 more years as a starter, and contreras was pretty amazing until injuries and age knocked him back, but he has been a pretty good reliecer for the phillies when healthy. franklin looks done, weaver became an overpaid dodger reliever, marquis never did anything worth noting, suppan couldnt get his era below 7.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 05:10 PM) It is. Then I can throw Westbrook, Carpenter (he wasn't s*** before he was a Cardinal), Weaver ('06 playoffs say hello), Franklin (though that didn't last), Jeff Suppan and Jason Marquis. That's just off the top of my head. I don't think there's a consensus, as we're talking pitching coaches here. But nobody sounds silly if they declare Duncan the best. i will give you weaver, lohse, suppan and franklin last season, but westbrook wasnt anything special last season when he came over, and his era is over 5 now. carpenter was a highly regarded prospect with the blue jays he just had arm problems, just like he has had with the cardinals. and jason marqius was exactly what he always was, a hot starter that faded so much in the second half that larussa benched him in the playoffs during their world series run. i think a big differenxe in the players you mentioned and the players coop rehabilitated is that most of coops projects have maintained their success, and half of duncans guys fell off the next season

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 04:57 PM) There's not enough good flicks released in a year to warrant $600. you and your wife go to movies pretty frequently though. how many would you think you average per month?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 06:38 PM) The thing is if Lilli hadn't have been just as lazy, he probably would have started tonight. Those are your two CF's, unless you want to see Juan out there with Teahen in LF the Guillen doghouse always has an extra seat. -
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 04:34 PM) I still don't get how JM had a GF to begin with. No women should ever be stalked or physically harmed. But she deserves at least a fine for even datin' that tool. Women love celebrities. the end

We all know he will be in the lineup. Ozzie always does that -
And now we know how pissed off we all are, 4:30 in the afternoon and no gamethread for a game starting in less than 4 hours Lets go White Sox, lets snap out of this f***ing slump and play the game like you are supposed to play

Could you imagine the column he would write if this happened to any sports figure in Chicago?

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 11:08 AM) I'm completely cool with all of this. But as a fan of the Transformers from when I was a kid, I would have loved to have seen this series get produced and directed my some competent people. i agree, and I wish it could be a better story but it is what it is. At least the general feeling from the reviews i am reading is that the action is much easier to follow and the 3D is well done, which was both really bad in the 2nd movie. I dont think we have to worry much, im pretty sure Bay is done being raked over the coals for this franchise. A reboot will come out within 5 years. In other dorky childhood news, the Masters of the Universe script is being finalized.....

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 09:55 AM) Just think "District 9" for an outlandish sci-fi premise that turned out to be an excellent film. there are plenty of movies on this thread that people have proclaimed to be great, foreign and domestic, and if you like them and i dont, thats fine. i wont tell you that synedoche, new york and doubt bored the s*** out of me immediately after you(and im not saying you, marko, im being general) proclaimed the movie to be great. thats just how i am, i dont want to rain on your parade right then. if i am asked i will tell you i do or do not like it. i know t3 is lowbrow, i know it isnt going to have a plot, i knew ebert would s*** on it. after i say i am going to see a movie, the bad reviews dont have to be thrown at me in an attempt to embarrass me for wanting to see it

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 10:52 PM) Could be true, might be some exaggeration Bud had someone throw out there. lol you obviously believe this is a bud conspiracy and thats all there is, so i guess this discussion is over. back to your regularly scheduled viciedo talk

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 10:21 PM) Where is the additional debt here? i cant post the article because my stupid phone wont let me select the site address, but there is an article on cnn money that a baseball exec says the dodgers have a 500 million dollar debt. its called "the dodgers have a debt problem"

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 09:29 PM) And if Selig would approve the Fox deal, McCourt would be out of the woods as well. The excuse that he will use some of that money for personal use is hypocrital. Mccourt would be temporarily out of the woods, and he would be able to pay off the divorce. i am no Selig apologist, i think he has done some boneheaded things for sure, but some of the things i have read about him and jamie using the franchise as a personal bank was pretty bad. Fox is talking about backing out of the deal anyways, so if that were to happen Mccourt would be up a creek anyway it is an interesting story to watch develop, i dont like either side but i feel bad for the fans. this is a legendary franchise being reduced to a piece of a tabloid billionaire divorce story.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 09:26 PM) Jeffrey Loria spends revenue sharing money on personal things. Jeffrey Loria makes payroll every month. Jeffrey Lorias wife isnt using the club as leverage in a divorce.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 08:34 PM) Dick Allen should be all over this. If they REALLY were unable to locate $5.5 million for a one-off payment, you'd almost have to wonder if there was some McCourt-esque personal money-laundering going on behind the scenes...well beyond the things with Wilder we already know about. Major League Baseball is already accusing McCourt of siphoning off more than 100 million from the franchise for his own personal use. Wilder looks like a pickpocket compared to McCourt and his soon to be ex wife.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 06:56 PM) It doesn't need to be deep or existential but it isn't a lot to ask that there at least be a not utterly ridiculous plot, characters with any depth whatsoever (or that at least are somewhat likable or hateable), and humor that wasn't apparently written by an 8 year old. Not to mention how about not creating two characters that make Jar Jar Binks look like a cinematic masterpiece. The 2nd Transformers was complete garbage and while taste in movies are subjective I can't fathom how anyone over 12 can like that movie. There is nothing snobby about ripping on piece of s*** movies. He shouldn't dumb himself down just because the public makes something popular. i will give you the 8 year old humor, Bay really has set the bar low on his comedic dialogue. and it is no secret that the twins were highly offensive ridiculous characters that really had no reason to be created. the thing about this recent movie is that this is a major plot that was featured in the cartoons, so he is actually trying to get the franchise back on track. when it comes to ebert, i just dont need to read his reviews of movies like this, i already know what it will be.
-
Like i have said multiple times, I dont go see these movies because I am expecting cinematic masterpieces. I dont care if Ebert likes it or not, he has backed plenty of movies that have made me say "what?"
-
QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 01:03 PM) That's lame. It wasn't profane, it was a joke on how stupid there owners are. It shouldn't offend anyone, since the McCourts put themselves in that situation anyways. Its the same as the Ron Mexico jersey imo. The league sees it is in bad taste, so they reject it. Thats fine, little shops that do customizing will make their money

I bet McCourt regrets the day he put his wife in a seat of power within the dodgers
