  1. QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 08:03 PM) Forgive me for reiterating what was going on at the time. The Bulls (despite King Rose) were not looking very poised or in good shape and they got lucky with Thib who I don't think people expected to be as good as he did. The whole buzz at the time was that they didn't have many options for coaches and no one wanted the job. That's what was being said at the time. Don't blame me. I dont blame you for anything except being wrong. Thats all. It was a very desirable job, the Bulls had money to spend, had Rose and Noah, already raised some eyebrows with even making the playoffs the previous two years. Thibodeau didnt fall into their lap and he isnt viewed as just some guy who turned out to be good as a head coach. Nothing you said was happening around the time Thibs was hired, it was the Del Negro botched negotiations that it sounds like you are talking about
  2. QUOTE (mcgrad70 @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 08:12 PM) Showcasing Pierre to whom? Unemployment? the only organization foolish enough to sign him is the one he's playing for please log out of soxtalk. turn on your sarcasm detector. log in to soxtalk. return to gamethread
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 08:01 PM) You seriously preferred Juan swinging? what i prefer is irrelevant, since juan is playing. but yes, i would rather have juan swing there to reinforce to ozzie, kw, and jr that he has no place on this roster, 4 mil or not
  4. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 07:56 PM) You guys are nuts. It was a nice way to pick up a run. If Juan has to play, it was good use of Juan. its a nice way to pick up a run in the bottom of the 9th in a tie game. in the third, in that situation, it is a wasted out and a wasted opportunity
  5. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 07:55 PM) It's sad that we have to resort to squeeze plays in the third inning. they are showcasing pierre's wide variety of skills. next up, the weak grounder to the pitcher
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 07:31 PM) Unfortunately I know what he's doing. Giving Beckham 3-4 days off to get his head clear like he has done with other guys in godawful slumps. In a way I blame Gordo for his suckiness cause that's why Ozzie's done this. lol. greg i have to hand it to you, you are good at absolving ozzie from blame. when he puts the worst players on the field, it is the players fault
  7. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 07:25 PM) I agree, but it's only one inning. Not so hard to watch ... yet. It seems like we've given the Cubs a break not playing Beckham. Omar is too old. He and Juan at the top of the order is ridiculously bad. your favorite manager knows how to put these lineups together, doesnt he?
  8. yay for power outages in sleepy hollow at 7:09. yay for smart phones
  9. QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 04:54 PM) No one wanted that job. Rose aside, the Bulls didn't look that good. you should keep spouting your opinion as fact on the baseball side
  10. so, the cm punk leaving the wwe situation, a work or for real? he seems sincere, but this could turn into a tremendous program if the wwe lets punk do what he wants with it. i just cant see punk going to tna or back to roh
  11. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 11:46 AM) Hopefully Pierre gets 5 or 6 ABs. with RISP
  12. Nobody wanted to do it today, so I will take care of it. Lets get this party started
  13. Hanley was disagreeing with Rongey this morning on this "return on investment" idea. He said there is no return here, at this point you have to turn to your other investment in Viciedo cant say I think otherwise

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 06:00 AM) I have no problem admitting that I cried watching 500 Days of Summer simply because it's eerily similar to my situation. As far as I'm concerned, that's one of the best movies I've ever watched. The only thing I don't understand is Everything about the movie was genuinely awesome. It moves quickly, so it doesn't exactly mimic real life, and her I do understand the length restrictions of a movie, and it was absolutely phenomenal otherwise and obviously hit me on a very personal level because I've gone a very similar experience. I think it hit a little too close to home and made me realize that I'm still chasing my Summer Finn. I think that's the sign of a good movie. I think might think too much too. (didn't dare bother to read the whole thread, didn't care how outdated the post was, but didn't want to ruin it) I also loved the movie. The little sister didnt bother me because the entire movie was a little over the top anyways so it fit.
  15. QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 02:38 AM) Signing up to coach the Bulls wasn't all that desirable a job for Tom Thibodeau at the time, was it? Um, yes it was.
  16. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 20, 2011 -> 06:31 PM) 1.I'm trying to figure out what the JM word means? I am having a brain fart on JM and what Ozzie said. I also thought this was an opportunity to make you a better person and just remove the R word from your possible choice of words. And you said you'll remove the word from your vocabulary which is great. 2. Yes you have to watch what you say nowadays, though I still like to wish people a merry christmas. If somebody said happy hanukah to me I would say thanks I wouldn't give a s*** that I don't celebrate Hanukah (sp). Jay Mariotti

get him to the greek was ok. the "jeffrey" scene is my favorite
  20. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 19, 2011 -> 02:14 PM) You guys act like this is a desirable job. With no prospects coming up and an aging team with no bullpen, we got problems for any manager. Cito might be smart. A guy with no other options. A have a sneaky feeling we'll just name Cora. And you act like Ozzie is the end-all be-all of managers and as soon as he leaves the Sox he will reel off 10 straight world championships.
  21. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 19, 2011 -> 02:08 PM) Pierre is also undoubtedly one of the worst everyday starters in the majors. The guy you love to hate, Dunn, is getting on at a higher rate. To compound that, Pierre's defense has been awful, eclipsed only by his baserunning. Facts have no place in this argument. Pierre=good, Ozzie=God. The end
  22. Dunn aint playing first if he plays. He is playing outfield. Even Stone said tonite you might see him in left. It would be asinine to sit him with him lighting it up lately.
  23. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 05:10 PM) I agree completely with J4L. We had a great chance to take over the city but I think we still do. The cubs are going backwards in every facet imaginable. There's still plenty of time. I can't figure out this offense one bit, like there's some disease lingering where the bats are kept. Why can a Twins team full of minor leaguers knock our pitching around while we can't touch Pavano or Blackburn? Those kids must have been sitting fastball the entire game and it worked. Why can't we command pitch counts? I hate every AB I watch almost. And AJ is one of the worst baseball players on the planet and he bats in the wrong spot; he almost always kills any work the heart of the order has done. It's all about our hitting the last few years. That's it IMO. We flat out can't hit. We can always pitch and we can hit every once in a while, but we can't hit overall. Walker's head on a pike by sundown or im outa here. They didnt even really knock around the pitching. They scored 5 runs in 2 games against the Sox starters. The Sox scored 1 run.
  24. is there a moratorium on trades right now until a CBA is worked out?
