  1. And when they said the problem was SP 3, they offered no solution? They just said that is your problem and thats all?
  2. QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Dec 27, 2009 -> 02:10 PM) So if the Bears have to "get over it" how is Rivera as head coach inevitable? I dont think its inevitable, I think it is very unlikely
  3. if it is a stunt, it is a very strange stunt. I dont see how he would benefit from taking a leave of absence and going back and forth like this. I know he has had some diva moments as head coach at Florida, but this wouldnt really fit that pattern. He usually acts out when someone talks about his programs or his coaching abilities. You never know though, it could be something that none of us are seeing yet. And I knew your FSU affiliation was playing a part in what you were saying QUOTE (kev211 @ Dec 27, 2009 -> 01:42 PM) Is going from GVSU head coach to DB coach really an upgrade for him? I could see defensive coordinator. yeah its a definite upgrade, its exposure. When I started college at SIU waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in 1996 they were coached by Shawn Watson for 1 year. He jumped the next year to be the QB coach for Northwestern under Gary Barnett, and followed Barnett to Colorado to be his OC, and now is the OC for Nebraska. These guys know they have to step sideways before they step forward in the coaching ranks in college, unless they are REALLY hot coaches due to their team performance
  4. QUOTE (chimpy2121 @ Dec 27, 2009 -> 01:26 PM) If it is so serious, then why is he already saying he is going to come back? You think you'd want to wait it out for a little bit before announcing something so bold. One day everyone thinks he's dying; the next, it's just stress and he just wants a year vacation. At least Steve Addazio is going to be the coach for the year and not someone really good. Some coaches need to step away for a vacation because they never actually get one between the season and recruiting and spring practices, etc. Im not going to begrudge him that if he actually had an in-season heart attack like what is being reported. That doesnt mean he WANTS to step away, and I am sure he doesnt, which is why he sounds like he is flip flopping. Favre flip flopped because he didnt feel like retiring, but Green Bay wanted him gone, not because of a health issue. I dont see how it is comparable to Donovan either, considering he left for another job, then decided he didnt want that job and came back
  5. http://www.news.com.au/travel/men-showed-a...r-1225813864969 brilliant. f*** with one of the few creatures on this planet that WILL eat you without thinking twice. Not to mention that they usually will sneak up very close before they come after you
  6. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Dec 26, 2009 -> 10:28 PM) I still think Lovie was threatened by Rivera waiting in the wings behind him. if it happened right now I would agree 100 percent. At that time I am sure it played a part in the decision, but I think a small part. Lovie was at full speed at that point, his team looked poised for a nice run. Also, Rivera was let go 9 days before Lovie signed his contract extension with the Bears. Lovie knew he was staying with the Bears, he couldnt of felt that threatened that Rivera was going to take his job from him. If there was anything that threatened Lovie, it was the fact that someone else was calling defensive plays and he disagreed with it
  7. QUOTE (chimpy2121 @ Dec 27, 2009 -> 01:04 PM) Mr. Snake Meyer is pulling a Billy Donovan/Brett Favre/whatever you want to call it. Not the same at all if it is a legitimate health issue. And considering he just had his contract extended and gets paid more than pretty much everyone in college FB, there is no reason for him to pull this
  8. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Dec 26, 2009 -> 01:08 PM) javier vazquez makes the yankees better because joba/hughes would put up an ERA over 5 Honestly I wouldnt be surprised if Javy did the same thing
  9. Happy Birthday to two subtly awesome posters
  10. QUOTE (Cubano @ Dec 20, 2009 -> 11:12 PM) I think their age is against them. I am sure they will get anything at this point. I do not understand they have not gotten even a ML offer. They are producing in the D.R. Winter League. This isnt really a big measuring stick for the MLB. Lots of players play there in the offseason and dominate, then come back to the MLB and resume being their normal selves
  11. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=4771388 Chan Ho Park is suing Chad Kreuter for failing to pay off a little less than half of a 460,000 dollars(which has grown with interest). Ouch
  12. What I heard was from Boers, so you can take it with a grain of salt, but Mulligan confirmed it on their on air call in. Apparently it isnt Rivera who has to get over it, its the Bears. He said that many in the organization felt that Rivera made it very clear that the job was a stepping stone and rubbed a lot of people in the front office the wrong way with how he went about it, and there was a big falling out in the weeks leading up to the Superbowl.
  13. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Dec 26, 2009 -> 12:08 PM) Ron Rivera will be the next coach. of......? I doubt its the Bears, from what I heard he burned a lot of bridges with that messy divorce from the Bears a few years ago.
  14. QUOTE (kev211 @ Dec 26, 2009 -> 05:33 PM) I don't understand why people shovel during snow, just wait until its over and do it once. I didnt really have this option today. I had to go to my moms house, so I had to shovel it once since there were about 3 inches on the driveway. When I got home there was like 4 more inches on the driveway, and my wife walked in and had to work 2 hours later, so I didnt want her to drive over the snow and press it down and make it into ice or packed snow that would be harder to get off the driveway, so I shoveled again. Plus when I was AT my moms house, I did her a favor and shoveled from the house to the end of her driveway so I could see it when I backed out, and I also had to shovel my own back porch(its a big concrete slab) so my dogs wouldnt walk 5 feet from the door and piss on the back porch. That, and Im not lazy like you
  15. Kelvim Escobar signs with the Mets, 1 year $1.25mil($2mil with incentives) Bobby Howry signs with the Diamondbacks, 1 year $2-3mil, team option for 2011 Eddie Guardado signs with the Nationals, minor league deal with invite to Spring Training
  16. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Dec 26, 2009 -> 04:24 PM) I just spent an hour and a half out there. I just threw salt down & called it a day. I threw salt down the first time. The snow overthrew the salt in a coup d'etat of epic proportions, forcing me to bring out the shovel again
  17. WTF snow. I have shoveled 4 times today and I know it isnt over by a long shot
  18. Haynesworth puts Greg Blache, Jim Zorn on blast I wasnt a fan of Blache when he was with the Bears. His treatment of rookies was despicable, and his doghouse was so wishy washy and didnt make sense. If he didnt like a player he wouldnt play that player, even if it meant an inferior player was in his place. IIRC he wouldnt let Briggs and Peanut see the field until it was painfully obvious that they were way better than the players they were replacing, and every time either of them stepped on the field they made something happen.

Im reading some good reviews of Sherlock Holmes.
  20. I wont be surprised if he screws this up, but I will be disappointed
  21. QUOTE (The Critic @ Dec 25, 2009 -> 05:55 AM) There's speculation that Michaels would be okay with working with Hart, since he's born again and all that. HHH is supposedly the one being a b**** about it. Not sure how Hart feels, but you know the scenario had to be brought up during negotiations. I bet it happens, since there's not much time on the contract. This has to be a quick-hit, high-impact kind of deal. It has the potential to be much more if Vince plays his hand right. One would think he knows this could be a bigtime money maker for him, promotions(tshirts, merchandise), PPV hits, DVD sales, etc. If Vince blows it right off the bat and lets this get away from him I will be disappointed
  22. Duchscherer stays with the A's, 1 year 2 mil guaranteed, possible 5.5 mil with incentives http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=4770727
  23. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 24, 2009 -> 12:41 PM) People generally find the 2005 white sox to be the most boring W.S. winner of the decade. did they say the team was the most boring or the WS itself? I dont think you can call a team with AJ, Everett, and even Rowand boring. People complained the WS was boring, but I think that was because everyone was ready for Boston to repeat until the Sox wiped the floor with them
  24. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Dec 24, 2009 -> 01:49 PM) The what? You know, the way you treat people in this thread isnt even remotely funny anymore. You dont even discuss basketball anymore, you just tell everyone how great Kansas is, the end. In fact, the condescending tone from a lot of people in this thread trumps most threads on this entire site and needs to stop.
  25. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 21, 2009 -> 07:37 AM) This is the wall - no political posts past this point in this thread. If there are any more posts of that nature after this point, they will be deleted, and other actions may be taken. Drop it. Time to take the national anthem discussion to the buster. The wall was already put up and you guys walked through it. If you want the thread split into the buster for discussion, fine, but the political talk doesnt belong here
