  1. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 19, 2008 -> 09:58 AM) that song got annoying the moment it was conceived. As did "Dont Stop Believing"
  2. QUOTE (shipps @ Sep 19, 2008 -> 09:40 AM) They became endangered the second I found out they existed. its like the best of both worlds, shrimp tails and lobster claws. where is the butter dip
  3. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 03:44 PM) My mom made mine when I was a kid, Im sure it was cheaper than buying the overpriced crap they have on sale today. And for older people, why go to a store and buy a pre-packaged outfit? Put some f***ing thought into it, go to a resale shop, look in your closet for f***s sake. Not all of us have feather boas and high heels in our closets Rock IKBIC
  4. I wish we could run the song "I need a hero" on constant loop every time this thread was opened. That would be awesome. even when the song got annoying
  5. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 19, 2008 -> 12:59 AM) I would agree this 3 days rest thing seems dumb. As devil's advocate, however, I think it's got to be Oz, KW and Coop all combining their minds on this. But I have no problem with you blaming Oz if this blows up. It's why he gets paid the big bucks. Take the heat and the credit. I know emotion isn't that big in baseball where it's a marathon, but I guess I expect too much out of our veterans to fire up the club. I mean if we lose 2 of 3 and/or all 3 to KC without some tables being upturned and screaming DURING the game, that'd be disappointing. I mean this is what these guys allegedly play for, a shot at the postseason. I know we are banged up and tired, but sometimes we do appear dead. Maybe I'm wrong; maybe it just appears that way and this is just the marathon called baseball season. So if they all say it, that makes it ok?
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 02:29 PM) Actually, I think this is incorrect. He's been fairly durable, but until 2007 he always seemed to be hurt for a while every year, especially in April. Cold weather rib injuries it always seemed like for him
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 01:45 PM) How does someone not score from 2nd base on a double? Havent you been watching the Sox all year?
  8. QUOTE (Texsox @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 10:09 AM) Mine to. Imagine how many times that Braves dynasty would have broken up. Eventually you have to play the guys you got and try to win something. And by playing, trying to keep a core together for more than just until they have high trade value. That high trade value moment is also the moment when you can win something. Other than the starting pitching, wasnt the Braves dynasty consistently broken up and rebuilt? The only constant in the offense seems to be Chipper
  9. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 09:08 AM) Thanks for the heads up. I'll be ignoring that show this morning! Its already over(M&H are 6-10). But the interview is archived
  10. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 09:22 AM) Yeah, i'm 29 and I'm starting to get gray, but it doesn't bug me. I have been going to the same salon to get my hair cut for years, and the women there have sworn to me they will tell me if I start losing or thinning and we will come up with a game plan You are gonna start hearing a aerosol can on the back of your head instead of scissors clipping, lol
  11. My daughter had an adorable Dumbo costume when she was a year old, I will try and dig up some pictures.
  12. QUOTE (scenario @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 08:12 AM) Saw this quote on a Twins board and thought it was funny... Gardy comes out of the dugout with Mijares on the mound and I yelled, 'Please not Guerrier!!' Then they flash to the bullpen doors and here comes good ole meat. I threw my remote across the room knowing we were done. Why can we all see this yet Gardy sticks by him despite his struggles game after game after game after game............. All I could picture was Gardy going to the bullpen phone and dialing up the local Buffalo Wild Wings while asking, 'Hey guys, who should I bring in?' Guerrier has become Mahoney. sounds eerily similar to another board I know and love
  13. Mariotti is supposed to be on Mully and Hanley this morning. He may be on right now, they were announcing it when I was driving to work
  14. I have read a few things about Telanders personal dislike of Mariotti, but I rarely saw it bleed into his columns, if ever. Mariotti constantly took swipes at Telander and continues to do so. He really likes to characterize Telander as out of touch and stuck in the past. I really enjoy Telanders columns, even when he rips on the teams I love, he doesnt present everything as a full on attack, and actually does fact checking and leg work. Strange concept for Jay
  15. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 08:24 PM) LOL definitely the money quote right there
  16. QUOTE (Steff @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 09:18 PM) My neighbor (fellow sox fan) came over all giddy to show us the costume that his son is wearing this year... he's 16 months old. It's a goat. Now this costume is super cute, and I know the kid doesn't know any better, but this being my first year doing this stuff and seeing how much of a big deal it is to the neighbor, as he is convinced the Cubs are going to blow it, I started to get a bit concerned. I stopped at the store today and there are like 30 costumes to choose from. And they aint the little plastic face things I remember from loooong ago either. $40 for a halloween costume... is this for real??? buckle up Steff, it only gets better from here.
  17. I always had thin or fine hair growing up, I knew it was coming. I told myself if it got to the point where it was extremely noticeable, it is all coming off. I didnt bic my head, but I shave it with no clipper guard once every couple of weeks. I actually enjoy it better now, I dont have to worry about getting haircuts at the barber because I can do it myself, I dont have to brush my hair before leaving, etc. No complaints, I am what I am. If you dont like it, thats your problem
  18. Last night got rowdy, lets see a repeat
  19. QUOTE (scenario @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 04:04 PM) Broadway deserves a 'shot' against a team loaded with lefty hitters? That would be a suicide mission. He's proven all year long that he can't get lefties out. (He had a .317 BAA in AAA against lefties; a 5.78 ERA; and gave up 17 of his 24 homeruns against them.) That's why Richard is starting tonight. Lets not forget Broadways little implosion in Baltimore either. Clayton is a mystery to me. He either has a really good outing, or he wets the bed. Usually when we expect the bed wetting, he has a good outing.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 09:18 AM) I'm not an expert on contract law, but by accepting his resignation doesn't that void the NCO? Im not an expert either, but when I worked in radio they made me sign a no-compete that lasted 3 months after termination date, whether it be by resignation, firing, or retiring. I have been told a few times that no-compete clauses are a little iffy to enforce, but who knows
  21. Not so fast, says Sun Times lawyers. They threatened to sue for No-Compete issues and the Tribune backed off
  22. QUOTE (BearSox @ Sep 16, 2008 -> 06:42 AM) Depends on the talent level at his high school. http://uicflames.cstv.com/sports/m-basebl/...len_oney00.html I dont know, it looks like Oney was pretty solid through high school.
  23. http://www.cnn.com/2008/SHOWBIZ/Music/09/1...t.ap/index.html Im surprised this didnt show up anywhere yesterday, music or SLAM thread
  24. QUOTE (Texsox @ Sep 15, 2008 -> 10:56 PM) Maggs. Name another agent that will land a player in the DL with a very handsome contract? Would you rather have Boras as your agent, or as the agent for the team you are trying to land a contract with? If my only goal was playing for the Sox, I would not even need a agent, I could just take whatever contract they offered. I dont think Boras is going to be able to pull the same crap with Crede as he did with Maggs. Maggs is and always has been a pure hitter, the guy can hit anything. His knee wasnt going to prevent him from coming back and at least being a DH. Crede's back prevents him from being the very thing that he excels at, an elite defender, and on top of that he cant hit either. I will be VERY surprised if Boras can get anything more than a 2 year deal with the second year being a mutual option. Crede has to prove himself and his back healthy, and this year was the year to do it. Next year he is back to square one without the Sox to fall back on.
