QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 02:39 PM) So based on that definition, any crime which destroys property related to a poltical protest would be considered terrorism? Then the question I fire back is the one I hear when hate crime debates come up...how do you judge when something is related to politics? (Note to DHS guys reading this post: this is a hypothetical, and I'm not going to do it). If a Judge somewhere were to be robbed and beaten up, should the people who beat him up be charged with terrorism? If it merits a harsher penalty, of course they'd deny that their motives involved politics, so how would you judge? Well, the way Im looking at it, the Judge would be getting beaten up for something the Judge did, that these people were reacting to (ie. jailed one of their buddies, jailed one of them, etc.). And the criminals beating up the judge would have to be doing it to get something done, as the people in the article are trying to shut down Huntington Lab by going after their insurers, workers, sponsors, etc. So I guess I would say yes, if there were a political protest in which a politicians personal property was destroyed and/or his family was threatened because of a stance the politician takes, then it would be terrorism to me.

I think Boston's offense is going to take a small hit this year to tell you the truth. I dont think Alex gonzalez is an upgrade over Edgar Renteria, I certainly dont think Mike Lowell is an upgrade over Bill Mueller, Coco Crisp will be good but is he better than Damon? As long as they have Ortiz and Ramirez in the middle they will be one of if not the best 3-4 hitters in the league, but I think they are going to have to rely on pitching this year more than 11-7 blowouts.
-
I would ask LosMediasBlancas "Why did you go with the 'One dinner guest, one question.' thread?"
-
I would have to say that this is terrorism because the crime of personal property destruction is directly linked to the protest of the Huntington Life Science Laboratory.

QUOTE(SnB @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 02:25 PM) Jenks and Thome are battling for the worst picture faces of all time. Personally I think Jenks has a lead on Thome. Back in college I was known for making "dumbface" in pictures. In fact, after parties my friends would go through anyones pictures to point them out. It seems if I am not paying attention when a picture is taken, I have a tremendous look of "DUH!" pasted all over my face. Those that really know me say that is no surprise.

Im curious as to how this board will react to this story, so I will withhold my feelings about it for a few pages http://www.cnn.com/2006/LAW/02/20/animalri...l.ap/index.html

Ricky Williams fails 4th drug test
Kyyle23 replied to maggsmaggs's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 12:32 PM) He's been in India for awhile now as per Cold Pizza. I would generally assume that he couldn't take a test from there. I don't know how testing affects most players as they surely vacation this time of year and I know that Williams is subject to more frequent testing. Not sure how this all went down but he has been out of the country for a months time and not necessarily smoking again LOL, that sounds like it is straight out of White Sox Josh's book. How do you know what Ricky Williams has been doing with his life? None of us know. The guy is bi-polar, things change with him daily. Just because his mom is quoted saying she doesnt think he is smoking weed, doesnt mean he isnt. -

Ricky just has to know that you dont take something without asking the team dietician or someone who knows what can and cannot be taken. I would feel bad for him if this was like a Jim Miller situation(where he got suspended 4 games for taking an OTC supplement), but this is his 4th damn time getting busted. Piss man or no piss man, Ricky is just being willfully ignorant. But for all we know, Ricky played one more year to collect his signing bonus(so he can pay the 4 different mothers of his children, probably). -
I think Thome is having some bitter beer face issues

LOL, Bobby Jenks seems to get that "leafblower in the face" look often in these Spring Training pics.

QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 11:13 AM) Well if Kansas wins, then we might as well just concede the National Championship this season AND next season to the jayhawks because in all reality there is no reason to play out games where the outcome isn't even in question. The actual games would be a technicality for the juggernaut that is Kansas Jayhawk Basketball. lol. Chalk on the sidewalk says jayhawk......or something like that -
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 10:13 AM) Drum solos have always seemed kinda out of place in a live band performance setting. They go on for way too long and seem lost on everyone except for other drummers. 311 has one of the best drum solos live that I have seen.

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 10:37 AM) I think that he didn't take it because he's in India and that is what has caused all this. Thats what is between the lines on this story Could you point that line out? The line I read says he spent most of the off-season in Northern California. And if you dont take your test, that is a failed test. Its pretty simple, you take the test when you are told. Ricky knows this, he has been through the drug programs, Im sure the CBA guidelines to drug tests have been read to him forwards and backwards. -

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Feb 19, 2006 -> 11:41 PM) Yes I am aware of pot being an illegal drug. Think that most jobs, if they even test, do so when you are hired and then not really again. I don't know why sports would or should be any different. You might be doing illegal drugs after getting your job but unless your performance is hindered (and Williams' never was) then it shouldn't come up. Ricky Williams was never caught by the police, just the piss man. I'm just saying the piss man shouldn't exist I dont see how you can positively say that Ricky Williams performance was not hindered by pot. There is no way you can prove that. If you look at his game log, he is up and down all year long.(http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/gamelog?playerId=1756) 8 yards, -1 yards, 82 yards, 52 yards, 13 yards, 83 yards, 82 yards, 42 yards, 28 yards, 70 yards, 170 yards, 108 yards. That doesnt prove to me that he was close to being the guy who could rush for 1800 again. Do you think Pot didnt hinder Rashaan Salaam? I wish there was a piss man that would have caught his fumbling ass. -
Cubs, White Sox, & Red Sox scouting Juan Gone

I keep seeing Juan Gonzalez running to first base for the first and only time of the season last year, and tearing his groin. Keep away Kenny, this guy is a cancer. -
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 12:31 AM) You know, I'm even going to take some issue with that statement. It's never been backed up with the evidence of say, global warming or evolution by natural selection or something like that, but there are repeated reports out there that steroids may also have some significant effects on visual acuity. But, since they're quite illegal, and they have this habit of causing significant amounts of harm, no one's ever going to be able to perform a truly unbiased, double-blind study in a large population to see what each and every effect of each and every steroid is. Hell, even if all they did was strengthen your wrists to the point that they could respond quicker, they'd have an effect on hand-eye coordination...your wrists could catch up faster. I agree Balta. I dont believe that steroids can make a person who doesnt know how to hit suddenly learn to hit a homerun. But if some guy already has a perfect swing(ie. Bonds, Palmeiro) then you would think steroids would make hitting that much easier to them. Plus, Bonds knows the batting zone probably better than anyone not named Tony Gwynn. If the ball is in the zone, Bonds will most likely hit the thing, give Bonds a little more oomph in his swing, and you have a shot to McCovey Cove.

you have got to be kidding me. Yoga and Holistic Medicine in Northern California must be code for Northern California Kind Bud. -
