  2. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 20, 2006 -> 01:40 AM) Wouldn't he be about $10,000 short? Not specific to this game, but I always laugh when I read about an inbalance in free throws and it somehow implies the refs did a bad job. If the free throws should balance, why not just issue them before the game? Sometimes one team does commit more fouls, doh! I dont really like complaining about fouls either, because the Bulls as a team are not good at drawing fouls while attempting shots, but I will have to say that Kirk Hinrich gets killed in the lane almost every night and rarely gets calls. Skiles goes absolutely apes*** when it happens too, I usually notice when Red and Dore start talking about him.
  3. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jan 20, 2006 -> 01:21 AM) It certaintly disproves any notion he was intoxicated--as AD indicated. The fan didn't appear drunk on the video. Honestly, I'm just looking forward to latest opinions from the NBA analysts who were incredibly quick to defend Antonio Davis. They were unwilling to even suggest his wife may have been the one responsible for starting the altercation. It was, "David Stern is being a bully and suspending Davis for defending his wife." What, did everyone forget his wife is a crazy b****? Not that it is a fact, but during his interview on the news tonite he maintained that he didnt drink at the game, and NEVER drinks at games. Of course, the guy who threw the cup of beer at artest in Detroit didnt admit it until he was brought before a judge with video evidence.
  4. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 20, 2006 -> 12:43 AM) But, I definatley understand why he went into the stands. Well she could have been sexually abused, right? Stupid move on AD's part. And its only getting worse. I still want to know why Larry Brown and AD keep mentioning that she was pushed. Everytime I see a different angle, ADs wife is in her seat surrounded by people or she is in the guys face.
  5. And now her husband has a 5 game suspension for it, not to mention any fines. The guy was interviewed on the news tonite, and he said he called security to get her out of his face.
  6. QUOTE(Felix @ Jan 19, 2006 -> 10:49 PM) You obviously don't know how KW feels about Brian Anderson. Rowand was expendable because his trade value was at an all-time high and the Sox had someone who could duplicate his numbers. Believe it or not, but thats the truth. Kenny? Is that you??!? I will from here on out refer to the trade of Aaron Rowand to the Philadelphia Phillies as "The BA trade". I had no idea that the whole idea of trading for Jim Thome was not for his lefty bat, but rather so Brian Anderson could play.
  7. QUOTE(Felix @ Jan 19, 2006 -> 09:45 PM) I don't agree with that. I believe that Rowand was only expendable because KW believed that Brian Anderson could match the production he was getting out of Rowand. I Mmmmmk. The real reason the Sox traded Aaron Rowand to the Phillies was to make room for Brian Anderson. right. Ok, I am ignoring his minor league numbers. However I looked at his numbers in the Majors, and he isnt quite lighting it up the same way he was in the minors now is he. This could change, but it still doesnt make him this great bargain that you think he is. And he certainly wouldnt be on the wish list if a team missed out on Derrek Lee. Not even in the same sentence.
  8. QUOTE(Balance @ Jan 19, 2006 -> 04:46 PM) Of course, how do you determine what country the terrorist attack came from? And how can you say that "Country X perpetrated the terrorist attack" as opposed to "Some guys who happened to be from Country X perpetrated the terrorist attack"? I think France is posturing, more than anything else. I thought the same thing. Chirac is just going to unleash his nuclear fury on wherever his intelligence(and I use the word lightly) tells him the bad guys are? It sounds to me like France is getting a little worried that the terrorists arent out just to get rid of the American menace, and they dont really know what to do about it since they have thumbed thier noses at us so long.
  9. QUOTE(Felix @ Jan 19, 2006 -> 09:21 PM) I did misword my question about Rowand, a better question would be "Why did the Sox feel Rowand was expendable?" The answer is because Anderson had potential to be a good player in center next year. And the answer to the question has NOTHING to do with Brian Anderson. Rowand became expendable because Jim Thome became available. Potential is the double edged sword. Minor leagues stats dont always translate in the majors, and you are looking at Youkilis' numbers as if that is how he would be projected in the majors, and it just isnt the case. If someone were a bargain based on minor league stats, then the White Sox would be perennial World Series players. Joe Borchard had tons of potential coming out of college, and it hasnt gotten him anywhere.

  11. QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 19, 2006 -> 08:18 PM) LMAO @ the clientele comment. I'm shocked that Ameriquest is the parent yet so many got laid off. I don't kow much about them, but from what I do they seemed to be pretty solid. How long did you work for them (and I apologize because I think I recall you posting about getting laid off, but my brain is so fried from the past month I can't think straight...) and were they cool at separation time? I got a nice severance package for only working there from March to November. I guess you could say they were cool in that respect. But lets put it this way, I was processing 4 loans on Wednesday. At 5, my boss was called to the Downers Grove office to talk to his boss. At 6 PM, those of us being laid off knew we had no jobs anymore. On Thursday at 11:31 AM, I was erased from the payroll and had no job anymore. Quick and painless, I guess. I was in shock for a week. And yes, Ameriquest has had some bigtime problems with fines and unethical practice accusations in the past two years.
  12. QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 19, 2006 -> 08:08 PM) Do independent lenders have the control over the rates they offer? Is it possible that T&C is having some troubles due to loans they have secured over the past 2 years..? I know that Wells Fargo is kicking strong right now. They don't have the staff to cover the new loans coming in their doors. The weekly LIBOR came down from Ameriquest, I am pretty sure. That was our umbrella company. Either way, rates are going up. Ours werent so good and there were plenty of people coming to us because the rates were going up everywhere. We had nothing but high class clientele, let me tell you.
  13. QUOTE(Goldmember @ Jan 19, 2006 -> 07:47 PM) "USC's identifying marks" refers to only their logo i believe. if it referred simply to their initials then journalists, newspapers, web sites, etc could be in a world of hurt... Why would journalists, newspapers, web sites etc. be in a world of hurt? They arent using the USC/LSU/TEX likeness or initials for advertising, are they? This guy is advertising for his website by using the USC, LSU, and TEX recognizable initials(not to mention the championship trophy) to promote his website. Like I said, its cool to stick a middle finger to the man like that, I just dont think its gonna happen
  14. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Jan 19, 2006 -> 07:51 PM) i think you're wrong, but i'm not a trademark or copyright expert. the letters themself aren't a trade mark. like the White Sox don't have CHW trademarked (i don't think). The reason I would think they are is this: How many times are the trojans referred to as USC as opposed to how many times the White Sox are referred to as CHW? Saying USC is more or less automatically referring to Southern Cal, and the same with LSU and Louisiana st. USC and LSU are identifying marks, they print apparel with that stuff all over it. But I am not a trademark lawyer myself, so I dont know for sure, I just dont think that (like i said before) USC is gonna let someone blast them like that in their backyard.
  15. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 19, 2006 -> 06:28 PM) Rates aren't going up, not on mortgages. I think Town & Country Credit and the 10 percent of its workforce who were laid off(including myself) due to rising interest rates on mortgages would like to respectfully disagree. They are still at record lows, but they are on the way up right now.
  16. They made it sound like it was going to be programming change, like someone was going to get fired or something.
  17. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Jan 19, 2006 -> 07:17 PM) i don't think the letters LSU, USC, or TEX are copyrighted. they already have a advertising company setting the sign up, they said it will happen. trademark was the word I was thinking of, and if you think a school doesnt have the trademark rights to its own initials, you are wrong. http://www.usc.edu/admin/trademarks/ And if you think LSU and Texas have similar trademarks, I am going to have to disagree. I dont think this is gonna happen. Its a cool rebel idea, but I just dont think USC is going to let themselves be ripped in their own area like that.
  18. I would hate to rain on this guys parade, but I wonder if he is going to have a problem printing his sign because of copyright infringement problems? Usually the print stores (Kinkos, mail etc.) wont print copyrighted things out without signed forms stating that you can use their likeness in your banner/sign. I cannot imagine Texas, USC, and LSU just saying "Ok, go ahead and rip us in front of LA, we dont mind!".
  19. QUOTE(Felix @ Jan 19, 2006 -> 04:49 PM) Why did the Phillies trade Jim Thome? Why did the Brewers trade Lyle Overbay? How much time did Aaron Rowand have in the league as a starter? How much time did Youkilis have as a starter? Is this even a valid comparison? You are grasping at straws now, Prince Fielder isnt Kevin Youkilis. Prince Fielder will have (diet provided) a great career. The kid was born to hit. It should tell you something that Prince Fielder made his token appearance last year and got Lyle Overbay, an incredible hitter, traded away this offseason. Yet Youkilis has been in Boston two years, and the Red Sox have traded for not one, but two 3rd baseman(Lowell and Marte), AND went ahead and traded for Mark Loretta for a 2nd baseman while holding onto Tony G. Youkilis is the product of New England hype, nothing more, nothing less.
  20. QUOTE(Felix @ Jan 19, 2006 -> 03:55 PM) No, because his minor league numbers are extremely impressive, and if they are any indication of how he'll do in the majors, he will be a bargin. You are basing this on potential.

    Ouch... !

Im somewhat surprised that Rugby doesnt cause more head injuries and disabling injuries, not to mention death. Sometimes when I see highlights of those guys getting in a scrum, and it just looks like noone should come out of there without a serious injuries
  22. If you have a smartass comment, Green makes it all good
  23. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 19, 2006 -> 02:53 PM) I'd love to see T.O.'s reaction when Grossman goes down and Orton has to come in to throw to him. nuclear meltdown
  24. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 19, 2006 -> 02:34 PM) If that rule was really something realistic, then the development of chicago residential markets would never have happened. In my nieghborhood alone, most condos are now a minimum of 405k. There are alot of people that follow that rule, it is realistic. It isnt a groundrule for getting a mortgage, its just a recommendation for people buying a house. It doesnt stop people who want to buy a house if their 2 year combined income doesnt equal the worth of the house, its just something for people to think about. There are so many different "rules of thumb" for different people buying a mortgage. My father told me he used the "old way" in regards to his mortgage. You get it, you pay it off, you dont refinance. That doesnt mean its right, its just the way he does it.
  25. QUOTE(Reddy @ Jan 19, 2006 -> 02:22 PM) you uh... thought that chick was a dude? whoa man. take it easy. what are you talking about? If you are referring to the picture, I had no idea who either of those people were. When the thread started, I thought it was an early picture of carrot top before he started roiding, so I assumed Shawn White was the blonde "thing" standing next to him. If you can tell that is a girl, then kudos to you. So, Uh, there ya go, uh, man.
