Best moment of the year for me is a toss-up between Crede's walk-off against the Indians, AJs walk-off against the Dodgers to complete the sweep, Garcia's almost No-No against the Santana, and Contreras' complete game against the Twins last weekend. I cannot choose one that I like more, I had the same emotions running for every game.

You all know we get our sports info from Cold Pizza, its the best sports show on the air! Why bother using facts and statistics, psychics know more than anyone else! Whatever happened to that Kip chick who had no neck?

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 10:57 AM) I think Crede has a very good bat slam as well. I think Joe has a great "I just killed that ball" look. He doesnt flip the bat as much as he just lets it fall out of his hands.

QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 09:48 AM) I've been hearing people saying today if we win, we clincha playoff spot, which I understand, but if the Sox win today and so do the tribe the Sox at 3 games ahead with 3 games left, so wouldn't the Division not be decided today? Forgive my ignorance. Sox have beaten the Indians in head to head competition. Even if the Indians sweep the sox, they will only be tied if the Sox win today.

How about a reward for us posters? Fan most likely to jump off of "The Ledge" if there actually was a "Ledge"-

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 09:37 AM) nevermind. LOL. He also said Crede is in the lineup, but he hasnt seen him in the clubhouse yet.

Ozzie just said on Carmen and Silvy that Jermaine Dye is going to be the #3 hitter today.

I was reading through the seperate pictures on National Geographics site, and realized that those pictures were taken last September. i wonder why it took a full year to let the public view them?

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 04:06 PM) Why do we need so many utility players?? Up until the trade deadline we didnt have a backup first baseman, isn't that enough reason to have gload on the roster? Ozuna can play everywhere in the infield and the outfield, widger is the back up catcher, timo and carl can play the outfield, why the hell did we need ross to play the outfield when we didn't have a backup first baseman? I dont think Gload was necassary. And he isnt proving me wrong with his performance either.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 04:12 PM) Lol, I thought this was just hilarious. On ath, Tony Reali says to Mariotti "Mariotti, how come when the sox lose 1 game you always right a column about them choking but when they win you dont write about them" How did he respond?

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 02:13 PM) Its plausible to capture a giant squid and keep it alive. It couldn't be for public display though. They would have to block off an area of ocean deep enough for it to survive and study it with camera's, microphones, and submarines. Then they can teach it to play a giant underwater piano to make it useful. http://dsc.discovery.com/convergence/giant...re/feature.html Yeah, it may be plausible. But the article you have talks mainly in theories for these creatures. They are just now starting to get the smaller animals to survive short periods of time. I thought this was telling also: Some animals are just not meant to be put in a cage. And setting up a sort of a cage for these animals in the ocean really wouldnt be studying them in their habitat if you ask me. The animals would know that they are being penned up, and wouldnt act the way they would in the wild. Until man figures out how to navigate the deep conveniently, I think this is going to be a creature that's life cycles and habits are pretty much going to be theory and myth.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 03:57 PM) He's crushed the ball in aaa, he hasn't had a chance to do anything in the majors. Ross has hit everywhere he has been including the majors, it makes absolutely no f'n sense to me why he hasn't got a chance this season. I just don't get it. Why is it so hard to understand that Gload hurt his shoulder in spring training and still has not regained his throwing arm? So what if he tore it up in AAA? The guy was fantastic last year because of his ability to be a utility player and play OF and 1B. Now you want someone on the bench to be just a backup 1B? Name me a player on the bench this year who couldnt play more than one position on the field. Ozzies bench is full of utility players. Even Willie Harris has played more than one position while he was in the big leagues earlier in the season.

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 03:36 PM) i'm not asking for pity, i just would like to hear peoples reasoning, especially White Sox fans, considering all anyone seems to say around here is that the "media" is bias towards the Yankees and Red Sox. doesnt the lack of a response show you that there is in fact an east coast bias? Same thing with Jeffrey Maier. That kid was New yorks hero when he grabbed that ball from Jeffrey Hammonds. Of course, Georgie has alot of media in his backpocket.....

Its funny how people dont understand that lack of a reaction to people like Mariotti is much more impactful than all of this negative attention that he thrives on. Mariotti makes me mad just like he makes alot of fans mad, but I dont go out of my way to read his work anymore. It just isnt worth the effort for me. What am I going to change by crying foul everytime he talks smack about the team I love? Thats his job, and unfortunately he does it well. I believe in the theory that everyone gets what is coming to them. If Jay is really this horrible person that we all make him out to be, he will for sure talk about the wrong person at the wrong time. It is just bound to happen. Maybe he will get someone to go "Jim Rome-Jim Everett" on him and just get embarrassed and tone it down. Maybe he will take shots at the people that pay his bills like he did with ESPN1000 and get his own ass canned. One thing is for sure though, nothing like www.firemariotti.com or constant threads about how he talks bad about the white sox is going to change the way he writes. It will just re-enforce it.

knowing the slight-to-medium indie flavor of this board, I am expecting alot of scoffs and pointing fingers at this, but I have to say that I really like the new Bloodhound Gang album that came out yesterday, "Hefty Fine". These guys may all be dick and fart jokes, but they have this 70's/punk rock/rap meld that just draws me in every time. It is almost a seemless transition from their last album, "Hooray for Boobies" in musical style, but it doesnt really come off as a repeated effort. Of course, they have had damn near 6 years to come up with these 12 new songs(actually, about 10 new songs, there are 2 soundbites that are 4 and 8 seconds long), But I think Jimmy Pop did a fine job. I think I mostly enjoy thier albums because they make me laugh, but there are some really cool dance beats and catchy tunes mixed in there too. /ducks thrown objects

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 08:53 PM) Thats is amazingly cool. Especially for a Animal Planet/National Geographic dork like myself. I can't wait until a live one is captured and can be studied in captivity. Scary to think that there could be a 75 foot giant like that roaming the deep. I dont think we will ever see one of these giants in captivity. There just isnt a pool deep enough and big enough to corral one of these things safely for the animal. The pictures of this squid are from 900 meters deep. Im sure there will be plenty of observation from now on, something akin to the coelocanth discovery and subsequent study, but capture would surely kill them.

QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 03:42 PM) Personally, I miss 103.5 Fire and 103.5 when it played some heavy metal. It got pretty bad after it died. Are you talking about 103.5 the blaze? I remember them, good stuff. One of my favorite late night shows on Q101 was Zoltar, Brother from Another Planet. He used to rock out late night with some crazy alternative/industrial.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 03:38 PM) I was going to start a thread on how I looked at his stats the other day and never really realized how good he is. .473 OBP in 1993??? Look at the BB/K ratio too. that was the year he almost hit .400, no?

That station cant hold a format. It has changed so many times i cant even remember all of them. I even remember way back when it was Z95. It takes an awful lot of effort and reciprocated effort from advertisers too keep a station on the same format. Especially a station like the Zone trying to cut in on Q101's market. If you are going up against a monster like that, you better bring the big guns. The Zone started strong, but never maintained their alternative mantra, slipped into 80's rock and mainstream rock(crap), and now it seems as if they just gave up. Too bad really, competition gives you better quality.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 02:52 PM) actually 3 of the 4 make it. 2 division winners and a wildcard. Only one team is left out. dont blow his argument Rock.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 02:17 PM) the Urge as in Urge Overkill? or the Urge?? As in The Urge. A St louis Ska band that used to rip it up. If you want a good party album, try "Recieving the Gift of Flavor" by the Urge. Its their first full length album. The albums afterwards(Too Much Stereo and Master of Styles) are good, but they got away from their punk a little too much. Without a doubt one of the most hectic shows i have ever seen though.
