How's my outfit look...??
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 04:39 PM) I had a feeling things were going to go south for this guy when President Bush said he was doing a heck of a job. LOL, that too

I had a feeling things were going to go south for this guy quick when he was so defiant and laying blame on everyone but himself during his public shaming errr investigative probe into his actions.

Bulls vs Bobcats
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 02:01 PM) If Curry couldn't learn how to play the right way from Skiles, I just can't see how Larry Brown will make much of a difference either. Larry's a great coach, but he's not so far ahead of Skiles right now that I think he'll be able to get Eddy to jump either. I feel the same way. And actually, I am curious about whether it was Skiles impact that made Curry better last year, or his contract situation that made him better. It should be interesting to monitor how Brown deals with Curry, and vice versa, now that Curry got paid.

Long Term Deal for Garland?
QUOTE(joeynach @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 12:16 PM) Im just playing GM here, but we all know KW, hes doesn't like to overpay or get caught up in big $$ situations like arbitration. That being said Garland is not Free Agent eligible but he is up for Arbitration again, and due a raise. I think now is very good time to offer him the longer team deal, 3 years or so. Garland definatly had a career year, 18-10 with a 3.5 ERA. Hes not going start 8-0 every year and be almost Cy Young, he is going to be a very good 3 or 4 starter worth around 5 or 6 mil (with no arbitration) if he can have an ERA under 4 and win 15+. I would love to see the sox wrap him up through his Arbitration years, he made 3.25 mil this past year. I think something like 3 years 18 mil would be great for Jon, maybe backload like 5 mil in 06, 6 mil in 07, and 7 mil in 08. Any comments. I am hoping KW can work out something similar to what he gave Buehrle

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chronic In medicine, a persistent and lasting condition is said to be chronic (from Greek chronos). For example, a chronic illness is one that persists for a long time, usually more than three months. By analogy, this adjective has come to describe problems which cannot be solved in a short time, or which will recur regardless of action.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 11:59 AM) seems like different kinds of injuries to me, lower, upper, side. Are we just saying that anywhere in the back makes it chronic? Because then rotator cuff and tommy john surgery would be the same thing since its in the arm. Rock, thats weak and you know it. Every time he has been on the DL, it has been back related. In 2005, he had chronic back problems throughout the year. in 2004, back problems limited his use. Just because it was the left side of his back, does not mean it is not his back

This makes me feel better That sounds like the reason why Crawford was traded and the reason that Curry frustrated everyone in Chicago.

Rumor: AL Playoff OF tests positive for steroids
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 10:30 AM) In a sort of crazy way, good for Lawton. I am glad to see him at least be honest about it. I with they would double the suspensions for people who make up the BS stories to act like they didn't know. I know it is impossible to do, I am just sick of every single one of these jerks staring into a camera and thinking we are all completely stupid enough to believe their lies. You cheated, admit it, move on. Be a man. Doesnt this make him a shoe-in for next years SI Sportsman of the Year award, and Comeback Player of the Year award? Well, I guess i dont want to put the horse(steroid) before the cart.....

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 10:37 AM) So we can agree there is a market? Cause you only tried to dispell a couple of teams from the running. Even though the Bucks prob wont keep mesa, Percival is done, Foulke might be as well. I never said there wasnt a market for a closer. If anything, I would say there is little to no market for a closer with a chronically injured back, and that the teams that you mentioned would be foolish to trade for Hermanson given his injury history and current salary. And dont get me wrong, someone could be very foolish and take a chance on him (did anyone think that the Cubs were going to be able to unload Todd Hundley?), but I am certainly not going to count on it.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 10:15 AM) Teams that dont have closers next year: Royals Reds Pirates Tigers Mets Red Sox O's Mariners Cubs ( they think they do) Marlins Most of these clubs had under 40 saves last year. We were tied for first in the league in saves. This is what makes up a market for a closer. Pirates will keep going back to the well for Mesa until he retires, Tigers will keep trotting out Percival next year until his arm falls off again, the Cubs actually do have a closer, and paid him to be a closer, the Red Sox will have Foulke, and the Royals have that Ambiorix Burgos kid, Mike Macdougal, and Jeremy Affeldt. It isnt as cut and dry as you think it is, and I dont think any of the above mentioned teams are willing to take a chance on a bad back, just because they dont have 40 saves on their staff

Bulls vs Bobcats
QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 08:16 PM) I am optimistic in the fact that Duhon, Chandler, Hinrich, Deng, Gordon, Harrington, Piatkowski, and Nocioni are all entering their second year with the same coach, with the same philosophies. I am a big believer in the cohesion factor in the NBA, and I think the Bulls have a step up on alot of teams in that department because all of the above mentioned players had pretty much equal in their impact on last season. The Bulls really had a similar mentality to the White Sox, they had different heroes every night. If the Bulls have any setback, it will be the integration of the new players into Skiles system, and his effect on the new players. If the Bulls simply execute, they will be a very competitive team this year. Hopefully the lapses will be fewer and further between because their are really no major contributing rookies on the team. This is a decent to good team, with a wildcard in Skiles. Optimism fading Will Robinson!

Cubs re-signed Glendon Rusch to a 2 year deal
Where is the end to this joke? How f'n dumb are the Cubs, already?!!? (p.s. I think bringing Rusch back was a smart move by the Cubs. I think he will perform well in whatever role he is given, but shuffling him back and forth from starter to reliever hurt him more than anything)

QUOTE(Yoda @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 04:45 PM) Let's go Bulls! Let's start the season off like the White Sox did. Or you can always repeat the beginning of the 04-05 season. 0-9. I just dont want them to repeat the end of 04-05, with 4 straight losses in the playoffs.

Torii Hunter gold glove?!?!?!
QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 01:24 PM) The more people disregard the Sox the bigger the chip on their shoulder will grow. I think by the time ST rolls around people will be dismissing them once again and picking the Indians to take the division. Seriously. And that just plays right into the hands of the Sox. They don't need individual honors. That method of thinking sure worked in Minnesota's favor from 2001-2004. As I recall, the White Sox were the team that everyone kept picking back then...
