QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 10:55 AM) BTW, that rumor with the Angels aquiring Mike Sweeney, wow that might put them over the top. So would Darin Erstad go to the outfield? Sweeney seems like he would displace a couple of players on that roster.

Who should be demoted
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 10:43 AM) Per the Daily Herald, Frank is going back on the DL. So Ozzie probably won't send anyone down. Of your choices? Jizzcan. Per the Tribune, Frank changed his mind about going on the DL. I guess it would be ok now that Hot Carl seems to be snapping out of his funk. Its amazing to me how Frank changes my perspective on the lineup.

Who should be demoted
I thought hard about Willie, and I think he is the least likely to be demoted, but I know that there is a shot. I hope he doesnt, thats for sure. I just put him up there to see what the general consensus is, you never know.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 10:36 AM) Once again, I'm not blaming Chavez for doing this. I was just defending what I said earlier because a few other people jumped on what I said. I want Chavez on this team a hell of a lot and I'm glad he wants to come here. I'm not holding anything against anyone. Im not trying to start a flame war with you. I was just commenting because the first thing you posted was "I dont think I like his attitude". I think his attitude is pretty normal in the MLB world.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 10:25 AM) No, it's not. I'm just supporting what I said in the beginning because people jumped all over it. If you were Chavez, would you rather sit back and collect 10 mil a year on a constantly rebuilding club(lets face it, Oakland is gonna have a rough couple of years ahead of them regardless if Chavez is traded or not.) or press for a trade to a competing team? To me, it doesnt seem like he wants to jump off a sinking ship as much as he wants to compete for something. It just happens that the sinking ship is facilitating the need to compete. Loyalty means nothing in the game anymore, im not going to start holding it against someone now.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 10:18 AM) "With Oakland already buried in the AL West basement, Chavez is there for the taking. And he wants out of Oakland so bad that he’s the one who apparently is fueling the trade rumor to the Sox." He wants out...that sounds to me like he wants out, like I said earlier. Some people jumped on me for saying that. Is it uncommon for good players to want out of bad teams?

Dammit! K-rod's back tonight
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 08:55 AM) Check out his new member title. I think it is appropriate. LOL 3 posts and out. You would think he would be in Corie Pattersons fan club with that number.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 09:05 PM) I'm sure Ozzie will go off on Brantley again. When did he "go off" the first time? I didnt realize saying "Good for you" was going off?

Ozzie's Attitude
I wanted Konerko to come in as well, but he was told to come to the game after batting and pregame practice. Ozzie was dead set on giving Konerko a day off, regardless of the situation. Personally, I really dont know why Ozuna wasnt given a shot at first, since he already played the position once this year and would have handled a tough play at first much better (IMHO). But it doesnt matter, the plays are done and mistakes were made. Ozzie believes he is putting his players in a position to succeed, and he believes they will. When they dont, it sucks. But Ozzie doesnt blame the players, he said just the other day he wants to be the one getting the blame. On Brantley, I could give a rats ass what he thinks. I dont think what he did to Brantley was so horrendous that it was worth b****ing about, but whatever. Brantley got a handshake, defended himself, and Ozzie said "Good for you". This isnt a Brad Palmer situation. Ozzie didnt go off. He just ignored Brantley and went about his business. Ozzie didnt do anything worth apologizing to Brantley, as he did Palmer. I probably would have treated the situation the same way. Is there a rule somewhere that says that Ozzie has to let somebody rip him up on national television and then shake his hand and act like nothing happened? It could have been much worse.

QUOTE(daa84 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 07:52 AM) The White Sox trade starting third baseman Joe Crede and top pitching prospect Brandon McCarthy to the Oakland Athletics for power-hitting, Gold Glove third baseman Eric Chavez. There’s another rumor indicating the A’s also want minor-league outfielder Brian Anderson," mmmmm, BMAC and Anderson and Crede. Thats giving up a bit much in my opinion. Maybe a second tier prospect and Bmac, but not two top tier prospects and a major leaguer. Dont get fleeced KW.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 04:54 PM) Fine...I won't start finger-pointing either, but something has made his production plummet like a rock tumbling off a cliff for the early part of this year. Just because I won't point fingers doesn't mean I immediately want to give up our #1 and #2 prospects to get the guy. That lineup just got Nick Swisher and Bobby Crosby back from the DL, so it has taken a step up. Jason Kendall has been down this year as well. If his problem is protection...that will fix itself pretty quick, and he should have a solid June. If his problem is something else, and he has another month hitting .230 (or .170 like he did in April), then you really have to start asking questions. Especially if your team is thinking of making a trade for him. Ahhh, how we all love the game of Risk......

QUOTE(VAfan @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 04:36 PM) Why do all of you guys want Chavez? Anyone that has shown a huge offensive drop the year baseball finally instituted a steroids testing program is highly suspect in my eyes. How do you know Chavez isn't going to take a Giambi-like dive?? Hey, I'd love a left-handed power-hitting 3B as much as all of you, but I wouldn't trade squat to get saddled with Eric Chavez's contract unless I knew he was legit, and right now I wonder. At this time any player with a huge dropoff in production is going to be suspected of Steroids. I think the fingerpointing shouldnt start until the season is over and the sample is more than 2 months.

QUOTE(supernuke @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 03:55 PM) How do you know that May is a slump. Maybe he was playing over his head in April and the May numbers are the real Vinny Castila at 37. He hit .347 in April. If that isnt playing above his head, I dont know what is

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 03:41 PM) color=green]Yeah, because a guy who was drafted by the Cubs in the 5th round, then traded to the Mariners, then given back, and then traded again and is a 25 year old who just got demoted back to AAA for Wil Cordero is truly a prospect.[/color] What a hell of a prospect there. http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/team/player....layer_id=430593 In his short time in the majors, he hasnt seemed to be all that bad. And going to the minors to bring up Cordero seems to support the "name player" theory that supernuke presented.

QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 03:34 PM) 2005 stats? They are outside Coors you know? :rolly And Cell is Coors lite you know? the stats this year look like this April .347 BA .613 SLG .388 OBP MAy .245 BA .327 SLG .339 OBP So how about we go off of his last month? I mean, if the Sox should take him because he had such a good April, then why should they ignore his massive falloff in May?
