Tony La Russa named Manager
I am pretty disappointed if this is the hire, but I'm not despondent nor do I think this will be so detrimental that the team will not recover. I just think that right now they should be hiring a guy theoretically for 5-10 years looking forward to come along with the team. In five years Tony is 81, in 10 he is 86. That's pretty old to be relating to these kids every day

Brian Anderson's prediction: these candidates have a 50/50 shot of winning ?- NFL Thread 2020-2021
Will be fine to not see Demetrius Harris dropping passes anymore- Tony La Russa
Because you want a manager that can and will be with this team for what is supposed to be a long run. Tony will be 80 in four years dude! Think about that! The guys you listed off are 65(Bochy), 72 (Stone), 73 (Leyland) and 76 (larussa). You want a guy closer to their age than their grandparents, this team needs that.- Trevor Bauer Thread (Mazara Free Zone)
Job security is a hell of a thing. One year deals sounds like you are sticking it to the man but you are one Tommy John surgery away from those one year deals getting a hell of a lot smaller- Trevor Bauer Thread (Mazara Free Zone)
Lol are you serious? I can't think of any team that would do that, and rightfully so. I like Bauer, but could you imagine if this theoretical 10-ish year dual role deal is signed, and then one night Bauer gets pissy at someone on twitter and it just explodes in everyone's face?- Tony La Russa
I don't really think it's that drastic to be honest. Belicheck cheated and got caught multiple times and players never had problems going to New England to play because they had a good team and a good chance to win. Both Stroman and Bauer have tweeted that they will play for whoever, they don't have preference and have not ruled out any team.- Convince Me: Marcus Stroman
Has he ever had any arm issues? I know he hurt his calf this past summer but can't remember if he has had any issues with elbow or shoulder - Offseason Targets
