QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 10, 2018 -> 10:50 AM) Adam Jahns seems pretty sure Fangio is coming back. He was supposedly the second highest paid coordinator in the game last year, and with an offensive young coach, that probably made the Bears want to retain him even more. It does contradict what many of the beat writers were writing earlier, that if he wasn't the head coach Fangio was out of there, and that the reason the Bears didn't want to fire Fox during the season was they didn't want Fangio to take over and do well because there were some in the upper levels Vic rubbed the wrong way. He is 59 years old. Chances are, his odds of ever landing a HC position in the NFL are very long. The last month or so he seemed to acknowledge that his chance as a HC was pretty much gone, while saying that he would still like to do it. Maybe part of the contract is to allow him to interview for any potential HC vacancy

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jan 10, 2018 -> 10:04 AM) Suck to see Wolf leave Green Bay, but the Browns actually have some pretty good people running the show now. If that owner stays out it, they could have something. *headline from Jan 1 2019* the Browns fire entire front office following 1-15 season, extend Hue Jackson’s contract

Brewers Acquire Christian Yelich & sign Lorenzo Cain

QUOTE (pablo @ Jan 10, 2018 -> 09:35 AM) I'm going to listen to it in a bit. Seemed really strange to have a podcast about it? Obviously slow news period for the Sox but still. It’s a 40 minute podcast that discusses Yelich and the trade for Avilan and Soria And Phil Rogers just brought up Yelich leading off for the Cubs -

listening to the Garfein podcast, Phil Rogers is ready to unload the farm for Yelich. Some things never change -
QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jan 10, 2018 -> 08:22 AM) I'm excited about Pettine. Him and Rex Ryan put together some impressive defenses and didn't always have high end talent. It's like getting a sane Rex Ryan. Is there a contractual reason that he hasn’t been in the league since he was fired in 2015? Seems strange

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 9, 2018 -> 11:37 PM) http://amp.slate.com/news-and-politics/201...impression=true An interesting read on this. I still don’t understand how the charges can be dismissed from what is basically a terrorist takeover of a government facility in a different state. Yea, the government f***ed up with the standoff in Nevada, but why does that make Oregon ok?

GB to hire Mike Pettine as DC. Baltimore, GB, and Cinci have all hired their DCs, this could bode well for Bears retaining Fangio

QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Jan 9, 2018 -> 11:31 AM) The Lavar Ball situation was so easy to predict too. I'm shocked the narcissist with his own reality tv show who constantly mouths off when cameras are around ended up being a nightmare for the organization. If I were Magic and/or Luke Walton, I'd publicly tell Lavar to STFU or his son is going to ride the bench (losing value) and/or get traded from LA. I'd also ban him from the arena until he shuts up. The Lakers 100 percent enable LaVar and annointed Lonzo the next coming. I see this Lithuania thing lasting until summer and then he pulls them out due to some sort of dispute -
White Sox acquire Joakim Soria, Luis Avilan and $3 Million

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 9, 2018 -> 03:27 PM) I didn't see any dissenting opinions. I can tell you when I had mine, it was the same reaction as with Soria. Also, not too many wanted to hear anything negative about Zach Duke. I don't know what it is with these guys that make posters fall in love? Not seeing all this love. Just seeing people that think the move could work out, and if it doesn’t then it doesn’t cost much -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 9, 2018 -> 02:37 PM) I don't have a post in that thread. Must be somewhere else. A lot of satisfaction in that thread though. Peripherals. Yea but you are acting like anyone who had a dissenting opinion was attacked for it. Not seeing that -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 9, 2018 -> 02:06 PM) It wasn't bragging, but if you go back to when they signed him, any post not positive about his future performance was ill informed, exactly like not being positive about Soria. Peripherals. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=90722 Not seeing a lot of this -
I am REALLY hoping that when Nagy is introduced, they announce Fangio is extended

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 9, 2018 -> 11:36 AM) Can someone please explain to me why it seems like so many people dislike this trade? In essence, the Sox traded a superfluous middle infielder for two relievers. One of which is lefty and is pretty good and the other is only a short term piece. The Sox have the payroll flexibility to absorb Soria's contract and the Sox got a bit of money back in the deal anyway. Relief pitching was a massive need and Hahn killed two birds with one stone. Am I missing something? there arent many at all -
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jan 8, 2018 -> 11:27 AM) Hopefully, it's up to Nagy first whether or not he even wants Vic on his staff. of course, but the bears did not allow him to interview with the Bengals last week. So apparently they want him, and hopefully Nagy would want him. I dont see why Nagy wouldnt want him considering his track record, but who knows Its being reported that Dave Ragone will remain the QB coach

QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jan 8, 2018 -> 11:01 AM) Are they planning to keep Fangio still? I think they really want to, it’s up to Vic

Fake Rumor: White Sox and Moustakas "Close" on Deal.
Kyyle23 replied to KnightsOnMintSt's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (WBWSF @ Jan 5, 2018 -> 09:35 AM) 1) Does anybody really think that the White Sox are going to out spend the other teams in signing Machado next year? 2) Wouldn't it be easier and cheaper to sign Moustakas?. 3) Is there anybody who wouldn't want to see a 2018 White Sox infield of Moustakas, Anderson. Moncado and Abreu? You don’t think the sox will do any of these things because JERRY HOARDS ALL HIS MONEY RAH RAH so why even ask? -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 5, 2018 -> 09:19 AM) 25 years ago today, a certain coach of a certain team from a certain city that begins with a C, ends in an O and has hicag in the middle, was canned by the beloved. and 25 years later, fans of that certain team are still calling the score suggesting that he become coach again. with zero trace of irony

QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Jan 5, 2018 -> 11:38 AM) I'll definitely keep playing. I do like it, but these early frustrations were really nagging. when i bought my switch BOTW bundle, i got the strategy guide with it. It has been worth every penny. Im a completionist when it comes to games like that, and some things were less than obvious when it comes to finding certain shrines. Also, keep an eye out for easter eggs concerning previous Zelda games. they are everywhere

QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Jan 5, 2018 -> 08:22 AM) Is Breath of the Wild just a poor man's Horizon Zero Dawn? Struggling to understand the hype here. The plot premise is really really similar, but BotW's storytelling, characters, combat, graphics, sound, UI, and exploration are all far worse. Some of these design decisions (crafting to heal, weapons that break every 5 minutes, stamina system) are baffling. The only area it excels so far is with the puzzle shrines. I'm only like 5 hours in. Does this get better? Agreed with Jenks, if you like the shrines then it gets better as Link gets stronger. I’m on to the DLC and really love it
