  1. I don't like reading stuff like that about KW. It doesn't make me like him very much at all
  2. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 1, 2017 -> 02:44 PM) Signs of the system working despite everything stacked against it. You know Pruitt is pissed. Oh well back to fracking the world
  3. EPA forced to uphold Obama-era methane pollution law
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 1, 2017 -> 10:55 AM) Trump has been saying he has pen in hand. Why hasn't he signed the Russian sanctions bill yet? He says he hasn't received the bill yet! (Govt website shows it was sent to him on 7/28)
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 05:52 PM) Yeah, only Jesus would have forgiven Bartman had the Cubs entered this season still lacking that World Series trophy...quite easy to be magnanimous now. Just like JR approving Q trade. Would never have happened had they instead lost to the Indians. Yea, it never would have happened because they wouldn't have won the World Series and wouldn't have had a ring to give away lol
  6. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 08:56 PM) Headed to xray. Unable to put any pressure on the leg. Not looking good.
  7. I can't imagine Moncada tore anything in his knee. I know that hurt bad but I will be surprised if he tore anything
  8. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 08:16 PM) The Sox would have to eat 12 mil for Shields to go away after this season. Worth it. Take it, James. Bye
  9. What was your favorite moment of the Mooch era? Mine was that time when he sold his business and got divorced by his wife and promised to fire everyone for leaking. That was week one
  10. Hey Dayton, can I interest you in a MiGo?

I don't really see the point in bringing in vets, except maybe guys on minor league deals that can start in Charlotte and come up if needed. who dis
  12. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 11:40 AM) Also why is Dany skeptical about an army of the undead? She's got dragons that hatched magically and is the "unburnt" because she miraculously is immune to fire. Yea, it is pretty strange that they will act like White Walkers are an old wives tale. Although, Dragons were around recently, it isnt like they have been gone for hundreds of years and reduced to myth. But in general, of all people Dany should understand that magical elements in her world should not be discounted and ignored.
  13. QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 11:46 AM) Anyone can parse stats to make a point. For example, Moustakis BA and OBP for 2014 was pretty bad (.212. BA .271 OBP) He would have been gone if KC did not believe he could improve. Geezus, give Davidson a chance. This is his first almost full season. And hit a landmark homerun against the Cubs. Never forget that either. He was 1/14 with 5 strikeouts and one solo homerun against the cubs. I can forget that.
  14. Should Pelfrey be included? He has been solid this season but probably worthless since he hasn't been in the pen all season and that is probably where he would provide any sort of worth
  15. Last day of non waiver deals, do you think any of these guys go?

  18. QUOTE (Two-Gun Pete @ Jul 30, 2017 -> 10:10 AM) Let's see, I asked for those that were signed in the past 15-20 years, & you gave us: 1. Magglio Ordonez, signed in 1991. 2. Carlos Lee, signed in 1994. 3. Aaron Rowand, a 1998 draftee, so he does count, to be fair. 4. Joe Crede, drafted in 1996. In other words, we have to go back all the way to a 1998 draftee to find a consistently productive position player. (READ: Not a one-year wonder, like Beckham, Trayce Thompson, or perhaps even Tim Anderson.) Thank you for making my point so eloquently for me. They all were brought up within the organization within your time frame and made their debuts within your time frame. I don't disagree that the development has been bad but they have had some players I'm also not advocating bringing up Eloy, that is ridiculous
  19. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Jul 30, 2017 -> 09:17 AM) Don't change my message, please. I've never used the word "hate" when it comes to the owner. I have zero personal animosity to the man, as I've never met him. However, this is a White Sox message board, correct? And Jerry Reinsdorf is the owner of the White Sox, correct? And that means decisions he makes as owner have a direct bearing on the team's results and that which we as fans want to support? Well, do the math. Line up the years and years of those decisions with the results on the field, and see what you get. You get criticism of those decisions given the routine losing of the organization. The original poster of this thread brought up one of those decisions from 20 years ago that happened to be a doozy, and so I shared my point of view on that decision. I think I made valid points, but at no time did I inject emotion suggesting personal hatred for the man. I just want him to stop making bad decisions. Sadly, I've been waiting an awful long time for that to happen. This is such a steaming pile, you literally jump at every chance you get and actually make up reasons to constantly hate on Reinsdorf. This isn't even a debate, you constantly change conversations in order to do this. It's sad and you are a poor poster because of it. Which is a shame because I think you would have something to add to the site if you could get past/over/stop talking about your grudge. Don't give me "this is a white sox messageboard" bulls*** either. Your stance is well known, there is nothing more you could add to it, you have been repeating yourself for years.
  20. QUOTE (Two-Gun Pete @ Jul 30, 2017 -> 08:53 AM) I'm fascinated by this idea that the Sox are "hurting the development" of Jimenez by keeping him in W-S: 1. Could you describe in detail exactly how this could occur? 2. Can you point to more than one player whose development was "hurt" by going at a sensible pace in promoting him? 3. Exactly what part of Jimenez's game will be irreparably damaged by sensibly promoting him, rather than rushing him up? 4. What will Jimenez fail to learn, or fail to encounter in Birmingham in 2018, as opposed to 2017? Thanks in advance for indulging my curiosity about this topic. Insofar as Devers & Boston, I'd like you to show us an example of a positon player that was SUCCESSFULLY scouted, signed, & developed by this organization that went on to be a productive player over the long term. You know, someone. ANYONE in the past ~15-20 years in this system that was rushed up to The Show by this org? The point? Devers is likely up because Boston has been BETTER at scouting, signing, & developing position players that our White Sox, full stop. Maggs, Lee, Rowand, Crede were pretty decent
  21. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Jul 30, 2017 -> 09:02 AM) Of course not. He had the sage Ron Schueler at his side advising him back then. You remember Ron Schueler, don't you? He was the guy brought in by the genius owner after the 1990 season as the guy who, the owner explained to us at the time, would "get the team from Point B to Point C", meaning a championship. Reinsdorf fired the guy who got the team from "Point A to Point B" through successful drafts and trades that brought the team the likes of Thomas, Ventura, McDowell, Fernandez, Alvarez, Lance Johnson, Sosa, etc. But the genius owner deemed him unable to get the team to this "Point C" apparently because he wasn't very chummy in the office. Meanwhile, when a "Point C" opportunity presented itself in 1997 with the team only 3 1/2 games out of first place on July 31st, Point C general manager and the genius owner went in the direction of the infamous "White Flag" trade. And Point C general manager would go onto never getting the team to Point C, ironically. Still wonder to this day if Point A to Point B general manager could have done so. What exactly do you hope to accomplish by constantly telling everyone repeatedly at this site how much you hate Reinsdorf? Just curious
  22. QUOTE (The Mighty Mite @ Jul 30, 2017 -> 08:49 AM) I've lived in Florida for almost 24 years, what is this crappy spring weather you're talking about? The rainy season doesn't start until June. There might be an very rare shower in Spring but most years Florida experiences draught like conditions from October to June. 2017 was one of the driest Winters and Springs in Florida's history, lots of water restrictions and fires breaking out everywhere. I golf 4-5 times a week and can't remember the last time I had to cancel a game because of rain. Even in the rainy season we very seldom get rain in the AM, we tee off at 8am and are done by 11:30 well before the t-storms that start around 2 or 3pm. As far as Arizona goes, it can get nasty out there with cold weather and some rain. I remember watching a PGA event out there in March and it was snowing. This is the first year since the 90's that there wasn't rainouts. So I guess you are right this year http://www.tcpalm.com/story/sports/mlb/spr...fans/100188498/
  23. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Jul 30, 2017 -> 07:36 AM) They of the 86 entire wins to win the division that year, Indians? Yes, I can see how the genius owner could reach that conclusion then. I mean, how can you catch 86 wins. Would be a fool's errand to even think about trying! I'm sure JR made the decision to trade the players all by himself
  24. QUOTE (WBWSF @ Jul 29, 2017 -> 08:32 AM) 1) I'm told that a new stadium could still be built in the South Loop at Roosevelt and Clark. Keep in mind that the City of Chicago offered to build a stadium at that site in the mid 1980s and JR stupidly rejected the offer. JR wanted to have a stadium built in Addison. Just by coincidence the stadium would have been built on land that he owned. 2) Nobody ever talks about this but for many years the White Sox did their spring training in Sarasota Florida. Out of nowhere JR announced that the team would be moving to Tuscon Arizona for their spring training games. It was somewhat of a head scratcher. Tuscon wasn't really close to the other teams that trained in Arizona. Turns out JR owned the land that the stadium was built on. More tax benefits for JR. 1) "I'm told". Lmao. I'm sure 2) You don't get rainouts in Arizona. You act like it's bad for a guy to want his team to play on land he owns. Oh the horror! Now the Sox share a fairly new facility with the Dodgers and don't have to worry about crappy Florida spring weather, weird.
  25. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 29, 2017 -> 09:02 PM) WTF the run should score whether Matt swung or not! Dead ball because he swung
