2017-2018 NFL Thread
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 27, 2017 -> 06:57 AM) First off, I’m not sure why you’re comparing Mitch to two of the greatest QBs. No one other than you has that expectation. But the idea that these guys had no one to throw to is garbage. Antonio Freeman & Donald Driver both had more talent in their little pinkies than this entire Bears WR group. He also had talented receivers like Sterling Sharpe & Javon Walker for periods of time as well. Farve may have made these guys better, but they weren’t some bums like you’re making them out to be. I’d have to look at Brady’s receivers to truly comment on him, but everything about the Patriots is an outlier and they typically found guys who fit their schemes perfectly. So again, if Brady is your expectation here, be prepared for a world of dissapointment with Mitch. Brady had guys like Moss, Welker, Gronk, Deion Branch, Aaron Hernandez, Amendola that have all produced very well with him. And Brady certainly didn’t have “it” right off the bat, he was a game manager and Belicheck schemed to beat every team around a good defense. Parkman clearly seems to believe that elite QBs make the WRs and even bums can look great under the elites. Not gonna bother trying to change his mind

2017-2018 NFL Thread
QUOTE (Jack Parkman @ Nov 26, 2017 -> 11:22 PM) Don't give me the "he has nobody to throw to" excuse. While they were both all-time greats, Favre and Brady NEVER had anyone to throw to. NOBODY they had as recievers did ANYTHING outside of Green Bay and New England respectively, save for the 2 seasons that Brady had Randy Moss. Hell, Brady won 2 SBs with Troy Brown, Jabar Gaffney, and Deion Branch as his top 3 receivers. Had zero TEs at that point. Those guys were probably equal in talent to Wright/Inman. Antonio Freeman, Greg Jennings and Donald Driver never did anything when away from Favre/Rodgers either. The QB makes the receiver, not the other way around. I wonder how many 1,000 yd seasons Larry Fitzgerald had without Kurt Warner and Carson Palmer? A: 2 in 6 seasons. Wait, you are saying Brady and Manning neither had great receivers to throw to?

2017-2018 NFL Thread
QUOTE (Jack Parkman @ Nov 26, 2017 -> 08:56 PM) The last 2 weeks made me change my mind a bit. I was more hopeful after the GB/DET games, but this one made it come crashing down. Do I think he's going to be really good? No. Could I be wrong? Yes. The definition of "The jury is still out" It doesn't change the fact that the great ones make things happen the moment they take the field. Do they make rookie mistakes as rookies? Of course, but there is more good than bad. Not so for Trubisky. Go watch Wentz's first 3 starts and then go watch Trubisky's first 3. Night and day. I wish I could go back and watch the first 3 starts of QBs who were really solid for a long time. I'd bet you'd find things in common. Come on, there is no metric based on first three starts that correlates to anything. Brady was mediocre, Manning’s entire first season was an interception filled nightmare, Farve was good but by no means blowing the doors off anyone. The last two games changed your mind and then when he faces one of the best defenses in the league with a completely inept offensive coordinator and a s***ty bunch of WRs and all the sudden you are back at “well the great ones all have “it” and they are able to carry teams the minute they get into their first start” crap

2017-2018 NFL Thread
QUOTE (Jack Parkman @ Nov 26, 2017 -> 07:12 PM) Nobody's writing off Trubisky already, but what I've seen doesn't look promising. The guy has a bunch of the traits of Cutler on the field. He's a) inaccurate b) has sloppy mechanics/footwork c) supposedly has a rocket arm and played college ball at a non football school in a power 5 conference. Trubisky has to really prove otherwise in order to make me believe in him as a starter in the NFL. I will continue to say it, but you know who the guys who are going to be the great ones are from the moment they take the field. They throw receivers open, make the offensive line look better than it is and make big plays at crunch time. Do they still make mistakes early? Yeah. But the traits are there. I don't see those traits in Trubisky. 2018 is huge for Trubisky and Pace. If Trubisky continues to be below average to bad, Pace is gone. Pace also needs to get new pro scouts because his FA signings suck. Dude, you wrote him off after his first game, no lie. You talked about drafting another quarterback and said Trubisky doesn’t have “it”, so spare me your “nobody’s writing off Trubisky” crap.

This is basically the same feeling I got watching NE and Green Bay hang back to back 50 point games

By all reports Alshon was not happy in chicago and just wanted out so Pace did not pursue or tag him. The problem is they didn’t replace him with anyone that could replicate his production and hoped White would be better.

Looks For A Match In A Jose Abreu Trade
QUOTE (WBWSF @ Nov 26, 2017 -> 08:49 AM) Trading Garcia and Abreu would seem to indicate that the team has no intentions of competing for anything the next few years. Instead we'll have lousy teams with low payrolls and mucho profits for JR and his investors. Then in another 4 years the team will start another 5 year rebuild. Always remember what Bill Veeck said, "5 year plans usually lead to a new 5 year plan". Yaaaaawn

It seems like Disney stepped in and said cut the s*** out with the micro transactions because it’s making their brand look bad. I bet the next Star Wars game is a lot more fan service

2017 Video Game Thread
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 21, 2017 -> 12:24 PM) IGN just did a top 25 best games on Switch and I think I own 18 of them. The vast majority of them are indie games, but just having Breath of the Wild, Mario Odyssey, Splatoon 2, & Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in the system’s first 8 months is more than reason enough to own the console. 425 moons. So much left to do

My response was based on that thought. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cbssports....nt-sprains/amp/ Still gonna need to get some work done on his knee but a lot better news than “total reconstruction”

2017-2018 NFL Thread
QUOTE (Jack Parkman @ Nov 21, 2017 -> 08:58 PM) Reports are Floyd has a PCL/MCL. i.e. the same injury that cut Urlacher's career short. There is no good surgery for PCL. See Shawne Merriman for a younger guy who was out of the league in 2 seasons after tearing his PCL. This is worse news than an ACL. ACLs can be repaired properly, PCLs can't. That is now a 7th and a 9th overall pick in consecutive seasons that has had a career destroying injury. This is going to be pretty hard for Pace to overcome, because ultimately nobody cares whether your 1st rounder got injured and that is why they busted. They just care about results. He has an MCL and PCL strain, iirc Urlachers was torn. Everything I have heard today has been positive about this, he obviously isn’t playing again this season but at no point did anyone who discussed this on the score nor did John Fox express any worry that this is a career altering injury

QUOTE (Tony @ Nov 21, 2017 -> 10:13 AM) Not sure how close you’ve followed it, but Battlefront 2 has taken a TON of heat since launch about the progesssion system and “pay2win” type development. I honestly haven’t found that to be true, if you are good at the game the progression system is fine. I’ve really enjoyed my time on the game thus far. How long have you had it? I think they disabled the P2P system last week
