  1. Stars aren't coming to Chicago, this front office is toxic.
  2. Maybe Nate Jones. But Tilson is up there
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 30, 2017 -> 11:15 AM) And so were Jean Segura, Logan Morrison, Justin Smoak and Alonso. Every player who has a bad season or two isn't doomed forever. Look at Avisail Garcia. Hmm, so, all of the above are worth waiting on. But Tim Anderson, doomed forever lets sign Alcides Escobar
  4. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 30, 2017 -> 08:49 AM) This whole Joe/Mika story is getting a bit more interesting now that Trump called Scarborough a liar and Joe is accusing the WH of colluding with the National Enquirer to blackmail a critical journalist into silence. I just dont know what Joe can do here. If he responds, he is lowering himself to Trumps level(smh, "lowering yourself to the POTUS level" is a thing) and he looks bad, and if he doesnt respond, then Trump keeps repeating his lie as if it is real and people believe it and he looks bad
  5. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 30, 2017 -> 08:35 AM) Dead Americans Healthnoncare and Mitch McConnell smiling
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 29, 2017 -> 07:18 PM) Well Trea Turner just broke his wrist thanks to Captain Jackass Strop Come on, Strop didn't do that intentionally.
  7. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jun 29, 2017 -> 03:12 PM) I do wonder if things have gone to s*** because Gar gradually got more power. They used to draft decently and while they were conservative, they didn't actively hurt the team. The last few years have been a complete tire fire though. I have a terrible feeling that they're going to find a way to trade for Melo now that Phil is gone. It seemed(to me at least) that the asset misevaluation started with messing up Asiks RFA status and getting nothing for him when he was clearly coming into his own. From that point forward it just snowballed
  8. Sorry Greg, not gonna praise you for just now figuring out that trump is a D bag
  9. did someone change a setting so i hear the Price is Right sad trombone when i open this thread?
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 08:30 PM) OMG the responses to the tweet. Some guy asking Gordon if that made his day, wtf
  11. Nats are blowing Lackey up. Their offense already is the best in the NL, imagine if they had Eaton
  12. Any word about weather? Still good for the start time? I'm in Lake In The Hills and it poured here an hour ago but nothing bad now
  13. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 03:34 PM) I acknowledged they haven't won since 1995. But it's not from lack of incompetence or creativity. They've acquired superstars over the years without having to be in the lottery. The Bulls have acquired guys like Ben Wallace and Carlos Boozer. If they took a different route and ended up on the same position as the Bulls, it's hard to give them massive props for being underrated just because they acquired stars. They still haven't been able to do jack s*** And by no means am I endorsing the Bulls Front Office
  14. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 12:52 PM) I love how Rizzo trashing Montero isn't seen as an even worse move. Montero called out his teammate so their response is to call him out.lmao okay then. Rizzos comments very likely came out with the knowledge that Montero was being DFAed. If he was sticking around I doubt Rizzo would have said anything Now, it just looks like a guy kicking the guy on the way out
  15. I think it is time to accept gregs opinion on a rebuild and stop questioning it. We can all move on now
  16. out of walking boot, in to full body cast
  17. At least the 06 Sox fell apart due to fatigue and not drama
  18. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 26, 2017 -> 11:56 AM) I think he's trying to hold out like DA and some others have suggested, obviously due to the lead they have, but at the same time, see if he can cheaply find a combination of guys, that when put in certain roles, might actually achieve more than the sum of their parts. It's pretty clear that any GM that has a reasonably performing bullpen arm is asking him for Robles, Fedde, Soto, etc., and he is hesitant to empty out his farm system even more after the Eaton deal. How much do you think Rizzo wishes he could have that Eaton trade back, so he could use those pieces to fix his pen? Its more of a overview of "wtf is this" as opposed to "why is he signing guys like K Rod right now". This was preventable, and i am not even talking about adding Robertson. the bullpen was a nightmare to start the season, and everyone knew it. All of us were posting this winter "dont they want Robertson?" simply by looking at their pen(and shuddering). I know bullpens are volatile and its hard to count on them, but he was really going out on a limb with what he put together, and now he is backed into a corner looking for multiple pitchers as opposed to grabbing a pitcher that could solidify the pen QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 26, 2017 -> 12:07 PM) It is the same thing the Tigers did during their run. I mean if you are going to spend like that, just spend a bit more and do it right. The Tigers pen was pretty decent for a little while. the last couple competitive years were pretty messy though
  19. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 26, 2017 -> 11:21 AM) There's going to be a total solar eclipse on August 21st, the first in nearly a century. Those of us in northern IL won't get a complete eclipse, but NASA has a nifty app that shows how it'll look where you're at. http://www.wlwt.com/article/this-is-how-th...em:+New+Content Carbondale is rolling out the welcome mat, they are all over this
  20. i really dont understand what Rizzo is doing. This bullpen construction looks like a rebuilding team throwing together a pen, not a team that has a playoff worthy offense and starting pitching
  21. Umm where is the Incomplete option, since a rebuild is not finished 3 months into the first season of a rebuild
  22. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 25, 2017 -> 02:18 PM) It's not about civility. It's about coming up with agreements (not just on healthcare) that works for everyone. No policy set to one extreme liberal or conservative will be the best for everyone. Extremes on either side are rarely good. Of course this one is about cut, cut ,cut. The last one was far too expensive and really didn't work very well. So because there was no way any of the politicians were going to compromise it had to swing way to the other extreme. this probably isn't going to work very well either. but again when people aren't willing to work together, this is what you are going to get. And I mean the willingness to work together on both sides. conservative are as guilty on this as liberals. It just atmosphere of politics today. I mean, the Republicans drafted this bill in secrecy with Lobbyists, not democrats, and they are about to ram it through by any means possible. Hard to point fingers about agreements when that is happening
