  1. QUOTE (Lillian @ Dec 11, 2013 -> 09:21 AM) I'm sorry, but the logic here escapes me. Neither Eaton nor Elmore are home run hitters, so why would this be a factor? It doesnt have to be a homerun, the ball flies farther. line drives to the left fielder become line drives off the fence. It boosts numbers no matter what
  2. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Dec 11, 2013 -> 09:02 AM) Guys, Alshon Jeffery is-like-really good. Startlingly good, even "this guy would be considered good on any other team" good. Thats pretty cool. More like "one of the best wide receivers in the league." QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 11, 2013 -> 08:53 AM) I thought they are claiming it's strictly for health issues. That he was never 100% this season and he is getting sacked so much they don't want to risk further injury. Mike Tanahan is about to get the Dan Snyder sendoff, like everyone preceding him. Snyder will never win in DC, he is simply too much of a meddler.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 08:56 PM) he's too busy writing floppy weiner songs. He is too busy doing media tours and book signings now. The show is the best thing that happened to him and the worst thing that happened to the continuation of the story
  6. QUOTE (coco1997 @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 06:57 PM) LOL you just quoted one of my tweets. I took that from something bucket-of-suck said in the Viciedo trade thread. Coco has been outed
  7. Anyone having issues with yahoo mail on their phone?
  8. i hunt with telekinetic ability. I think it, and the deer drops. Safe and humane for all. Then I get it butchered and send Big Sqwert his half
  9. Honestly, why push it? And im not even being Bears fan "haha funny he is hurt". I really have to wonder if Rodgers can go on a superbowl run after not playing for as long as he has
  10. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 02:29 PM) It'd be impossible to argue otherwise. It is very possible. Santiago isnt nearly as good as you think he is
  11. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 12:55 PM) He may get a shot to compete for a starting job, teams would be stupid not to let him. That being said, its not really relevant to whether its a good idea to spend $15mil plus on a single player in system with a salary cap. Which is ultimately the point of this discussion. It doesnt matter if Cutler is better than McCown, it matters if Cutler is worth $15mil per season to the Bears in a salary cap age. I used to think yes, Im starting to think no. Im curious what you deem as fair value for Cutler. In a vacuum, knowing what you know now, what would you be willing to spend?
  12. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 12:05 PM) Cutler's upside is what McCown is doing now. MCown is not going to carry this forward but the question is, is there another quarterback that can be placed into this system that can produce at a QBR that McCown is? Oddly, the defense will cost this team any shot of the playoffs. In reference to McCown and the Minnesota game that was all on Trestman pulling back the reins once the Bears went up. Something he did not do last evening. He lost them that game. Trestman knows Cutler is the better option for his offense the question will be, does Jay want to play for the Bears on the Bears terms. If so he will be here for a few more years. If not he will be franchised. This is all it is. If Jay wants to remain within this offense, with these tools, and a system and coach that understands offense, then they will work it out. 15 mil per year can not happen, it has to be a compromise on both sides. And to be honest, Jay has to understand this better than most. He had arguably his finest year in Denver when their defense was an absolute sieve. Going off for numbers like he did and not going to the playoffs has to hurt. The defense needs to be fixed, the Bears need money for that
  13. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 11:55 AM) Nobody is signing him to anything. This season proves that the system works and works well. The play calling and OL design help to protect the quarterback and lead to QB numbers that can be impressive. The question is, what is Jay Cutler worth. Can Matt Schaub work in this system? Is there a draftee that can work in this system? Those are the organizational decisions. is there a guy that can be plugged in that can get you what Jay gets you. Jay is not young so epic turnarounds in how he manages a team is not happening. Come on now, we are seeing it happen with McCown right now.
  14. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 11:00 AM) I don't. There's a salary cap in the NFL. I am aware, the Bears have a lot of money coming off the books next season. Like I said, if Cutler wants to get Stafford/Flacco money, it cant happen. If he wants to stay in a situation that suits him, they can work it out.
  15. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 10:50 AM) I have to agree with you. McCown is playing out of his mind. The defense is atrocious so you might as well use that Cutler money to try to patch up that side of the ball. McCown can obviously get things done for the next year or so until you figure out your long term QB plans. This is the kind of mentality that got the Bears stuck in a "Havent had a good QB since Sid Luckman" drought. I think the D can be fixed and Cutler can be paid. The question is, does Cutler want to get paid like Stafford? If that is the case, then they will be forced to let Cutler walk.
  16. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 09:48 AM) McCown could be a stop gap for a year as they groom the next QB from the draft. Here are your choices next year: (1) Resign Cutler and make minimal improvements to the defense. (2) Let Cutler walk and make moderate improvements to the defense. If your goal is to win in the next 2 years, you choose option 2. This is their window. Right now before all of their aging defensive stars are too old to play. I think Tillman (resign him) and Briggs have another year or two left in them. Sign at least one decent safety and draft another along with some pass rushers. Then hope that Bostic develops after an offseason and Briggs is still at his pro-bowl form. IMO if they resign Cutler you're looking at the same team as this year - around .500, no serious threat to make the playoffs or make any noise once you get there because the defense will still be terrible. And you can't be confident that Cutler would actually play the whole year. He's injury prone. I think number 1 has a lot of variance depending on how Cutler is signed. If he signs a franchise deal, then it will be minimal improvements. What if Cutler signs a team friendly deal? I know Cutler has a lot of detractors because of cutlerface, but i think the guy is smart enough to realize that Chicago is one of the best situations for him. The Free agent options have a lot of things that dont look good for him, new coordinators, players, systems. If he wants to just get paid like Flacco/Stafford, I think the Bears let him walk.
  17. I just cannot get over how strong Alshons hands are. Everytime he makes a catch, it is perfect form, point in the triangle, and the ball does not move at all. Last nights endzone catch was amazing because he kept his feet in bounds, but the catch in Minnesota was unreal because of how much he was moving and the ball didnt even shift
  18. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 08:57 AM) I'd like to see the Packers hire Wade Phillips. I know him and Ted Thompson are close. kicking Dom to the curb?
  19. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 08:50 AM) I was referring to Wade as being our DC if we fire Tucker. I don't know that Tucker had a fair shake but the piss poor fundamentals of this defense are sickening and I wouldn't have a problem if Tucker was fired for it. Now that I would be all over
  20. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 08:40 AM) My biggest issue is the poor tackling. DeCamillis is a joke too. He has no excuse and needs to be fired immediately and the Bears need to bring in someone who really has a history of defensive excellence. Depending on who the Texans hire, I would be all over Wade Phillips. Wade Phillips as ST coach? I dont think he will be taking a step back from DC to be a ST coach. The Texans may suck, but IIRC their defense is still top 5. Im sure many teams will be looking for him as a DC if the Texans dont hang on to him
  21. qwerty, feel free to start your own thread in SLaM if you want to have some sort of free form talking/typing if you need to express this. Im positive there are others on this site that can share some of your pain
  22. Such a crazy year. Injuries, the defense and ST falling off, the offense becoming something to be proud of, Jeffery becoming an absolute beast. It may be frustrating as hell, but I'm watching until it's all over
  23. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Dec 9, 2013 -> 07:34 PM) What are you talking about? HHH being promoted is a major topic in wrestling circles and a lot of people have reservations about it. You non stop complain about HHH, that's what I'm talking about. Suck it up, unless he dies or gets busted cheating on Stephanie, he is going nowhere.
  24. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 9, 2013 -> 09:01 PM) How do you defend Marshall plus Jeffrey, it is not possible And Bennett, and Forte
