  1. I actually have faith in Timo to come through here.
  2. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 05:05 PM) Yeah, I didn't like the bunt there at all either. Oh well, we have two chances to tie it. The bunt is ok there in theory, but not when your next two hitters are AJ and Juan Uribe.
  3. Rowand should not be hitting here. I don't care if they bring in Timo or Dye, but don't let him bat.
  4. Can teams hit HR's off pitchers from teams with great chemistry? I didn't think so, but the A's hit 4 today.
  5. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 04:53 PM) :headshake :puke Hopefully Ozzie has a little more sense then you use roster fodder in this situation. I would much rather have Timo out there as well. Rowand is useless against RHP.
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 04:50 PM) 100 pct agree with that. Just wait til someone says how we have the best record in baseball, and Ozzie should never be second-guessed. My personal favorite right now is "Oh well, just be glad we don't play the A's anymore." As if that's something I should be so happy about.
  7. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 04:48 PM) Leaving Cotts in to face Melhouse was the play of the game imo. I just don't understand what Ozzie was thinking I don't really think so. There were many pathetic AB's by our hitters, mainly Podsednik's DP with the bases loaded and 0 outs. Very much similar to the first game.
  8. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 04:35 PM) If KW is going to go for it all this year, then he should trade Uribe for Vizquel. Uribe obviously has mailed it in since he got his contract. That's what I've been saying since May. Even if Vizquel falls apart in the 3rd year of that contract, I'd still bet he hits better than .246, which would be superior to Uribe's s***ty production. Rowand: .717 OPS Uribe: .650 OPS Good thing they're both locked up.
  9. I can't believe my eyes: hits by Konerko, Rowand, and AJ all in the same inning?!?!
  10. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 04:26 PM) so is calling the best team in baseball an embarrasment. Not when they're giving away games with horrible play.
  11. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 04:22 PM) your a joke Sweeps are hi-larious.
  12. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 04:20 PM) No kidding. 9 game leads in the division are definitely not locks. Especially considering how many of our pitchers pitched over their heads so far, and our record in one run games....we're due for our record to come back to earth. Yeah, I think Cleveland has something like 31 games against KC/Seattle/Tampa. We have 15.
  13. The idea that we don't need to make moves is ridiculous. We've had a cupcake schedule compared to Cleveland, and whenever we run into good teams we s*** our pants. That all changes in the 2nd half.
  14. QUOTE(Yoda @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 07:41 PM) WOW... I am having my doubts about Konerko coming back next season. Just now?
  15. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 06:34 PM) A's unable to go for the kill thankfully. As much as Willie sucked last night, we should have never been in the game. A's left a ton of players in scoring position last night. You can say the same thing about us.
  16. QUOTE(3E8 @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 02:13 AM) The point is he should've never been playing first. The point is: Timo at 1B > Willie Harris AB's tonight.
  17. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 01:58 AM) TImo. Playing first base. Perhaps. But IIRC that was also the Kevin Walker game, and Timo's error led to two runs. I think the Sox lost by 3 or 4 runs, so A) Timo had a partner in crime in Walker and B ) Timo's error did not have the same effect on losing as Willie's inability to move the runner over twice in a 2-run game. Plus, y'know, AJ's throw to Timo wasn't all that great either...
  18. A big hearty :fyou to Willie Harris for tonight's ball game. I'm trying to remember if I have seen someone single-handedly screw us over this year as much as Harris did tonight.
  19. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 08:55 PM) Are the Sox really hitting .205 vs RHP this season? I know we struggle against RHP, but that number is extremely low. Nevermind. I'm an idiot. It's actually .247, but we're still dead last.
  20. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 08:52 PM) OAK-LAND-BASE-BALL-CURSE-VS-THE-WHITE-SOX WHITE-SUX-HIT-.205-VS-RHP-ON-THE-SEASON. NOT-EVERY-RHP-IS-FROM-OAKLAND.
  21. This game is looking like another gift given to the A's by the Sox. God damn, I hate these pathetic efforts. Another game where we're held in check by a mediocre RHP that can occasionaly throw an offspeed and/or breaking pitch. We need another lefty bat more than a pitcher.
  22. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jul 8, 2005 -> 08:43 PM) I think you are all being a tad bit over dramatic about Willie... yes he has had a terrible offensive game today... However think about it... how much offense are we really expecting from either Timo or Willie. If we are depending on either of them to hit much of anything we are in trouble. So doesn't it make more sense to get the one that has better defense, can actually play the IF, and actually gives us a decent pinch runner in late game situations. Timo brings NOTHING to the plate. At least Willie brings speed and defense even if his offense is suspect at times.. We're asking Willie to hit a ground ball to the right side of the infield. That's it.
