  1. in related news, the yankees suck big donkey dick
  2. ok, ok. so el duque has some problems right now. we all knew this magnificent starting pitching wasn't going to last, and we all knew that el duque was aging and injury prone. assuming el duque is going to be like this from now on, the question becomes what should we do? if he's just going to get knocked around for four runs in six innings most of the time, are we better off with mccarthy every fifth day? perhaps a four-man rotation is the answer, but i don't think so. i say if el duque isn't right or is just showing his age and takes a dump in his next start, it might be time to get mccarthy up for good.
  3. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 07:36 PM) fastest I have seen him is 82 so far. with no location. ozzie will still let him go 6 no matter what.
  4. well, these are the kinda hits you minnesota twin envy-ists rant and rave about. Enjoy it!!! i know i am!!!
  5. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 02:52 PM) is fast bad? Lisa Dergen + Eva Longoria + the pool that Lisa Dergen is coming out of - clothes + me. There. all questions answered without talking about the topic lol i can't believe this got nine replies. but who is lisa dergen?
  6. Personally, I think Crede is just cute, but Chavez is SOOOO hot. Thoughts?
  7. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 02:22 PM) actually he is not in the same boat, Chavez has better career numbers, has a left handed bat, can hit to all fields, do not clog the bases and can steal, and is a 4 time gold glover in a much needed defensive position on a winning team. Exactly how are his numbers better? They are very similar. His bat is left-handed. So that makes his terrible numbers better? He can hit to all fields. Grounding out to short and flying out to right are still outs. He does not clog the bases and can steal? Have you ever watched this guy run? I think he gets about 5 steals a year. Big deal. Also, for all the ranting about all the DPs Konerko hits into, Chavez has into one less than Paulie this year. As for the fielding, he's actually won 3 gold gloves, not 4, from 2001-03. He's made NINE errors this year. In my estimation, this guy is not an upgrade over Crede. Even if he is slightly better, I'd rather not trade future talent for this guy, whose numbers may have been inflated by the Giambi Juice.
  8. i know i am just going to get slaughtered for posing this question, but why is everyone in love with a guy with numbers worse than paul konerko's? chavez has been putrid this season. are you all basing it on his track record? if so, why no love for paulie here when he's in the same exact boat as chavez? to me, this is a grass-is-greener situation. i'd rather have crede. now, fire away!!
  9. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 02:00 PM) damn, those guys are dropping like flies on a twinkie i was going to say they are going down like hookers in the back of a movie theatre, but yours is good too. morneau is simply day-to-day, just like the rest of us
  10. QUOTE(Al Lopez's Ghost @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 01:41 PM) The MLB site that gives you play by play said he left in the top of the fifth with an injured elbow. No further info. thanks man. probably just got plunked. i'm sure it's not season-ending. but a guy can hope, can't he?
  11. QUOTE(mreye @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 01:29 PM) Yeah, you say this now that they've won 6 in a row? OK if my aunt had balls, she'd be my uncle.
  12. I don't know what goes on in Minnesota, but I just saw that Morneau left the game early on. Does anyone know what happened?
  13. Ummm, what did Brantley say that was wrong exactly?
  14. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 11:33 AM) How about a new manager? i'd like to see a GOOD hitter, power or not, added. i'd also like to see a GOOD reliever, be it lefty or righty, added as well. i can live with marte and clifford in the 7th and 8th and dusty bottoms in the 9th. but it wouldn't hurt just to have another solid arm for the middle innings. AND, i'd like to see us send ozzie guillen and future considerations to the mariners for mike hargrove and a cup of starbucks coffee.
  15. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 04:48 PM) Still not picking it up.....maybe you should try it in green next time? lol i never thought of green as the color of sarcasm. listen, all i'm saying is the alternatives to paul konerko are not on this roster. ross gload? timo perez? come on. where is the patience? it's not like the white sox are four games back. they have the best record in baseball, and a FIVE-GAME lead. It just pisses me off that people believe ross gload is going to be an improvement over paulie. and yes, i'd love nine tad iguchis. he's by far the best hitter in this lineup right now.
  16. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 04:16 PM) I agree, konerko is hitting the s*** out of the ball this year. We need 8 more konerko's in the line-up. no, we need nine ross gloads in the lineup. you know, i hate the way konerko always gets a pass when he struggles based on his history of always hitting a lot of homers and driving in a lot of runs. you picking up on my sarcasm? good, 'cause i'm layin' it on pretty thick.
  17. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 03:51 PM) I'm the one who gave my opinion and didn't attack anyone, yet I'm told to chill out. soxtalk.com: We got our priorities straight anyone who'd rather have ross gload starting over paul konerko needs to chill.
  18. 1. Podsednik 2. Rowand 3. Iguchi 4. Konerko 5. Thomas 6. Pierzynski 7. Dye 8. Crede 9. Uribe I've always believed your best hitter should hit third. To me, it's Tad. He's shown power in Japan, and I think he'd be even better than he is now hitting third. I still can't get over the fact HOT CARL pinch hit for him on Monday. I don't think you can make Widger a four-day-a-week guy, because he's shown throughout his career he's not good. The reason why he's doing as well as he is, is because he's not playing everyday. I put Thomas fifth because A) he's not the Frank we all know and love, and B) he's just a little less apt to clog the bases compared to if he was hitting third. I could easily flip flop him and Konerko if Thomas shows he's hot. And him hitting fifth isn't really a slap in the face. A-Rod hits fifth 95 percent of the time. I could live with Willie hitting ninth and playing short as well. And in the "Paul Konerko isn't the worst baseball player on the planet" department, he's hit into five double plays. Rowand has hit into three. Big difference.
  19. alright, i was out at an establishment that serves alcohol as its main business for the duration of this game, and i refused to read anyone's posts as to not have my opinion tainted, and here are my unadulterated thoughts on today's nightmare, point by point: 1. Buehrle is left in to start the 9th. OK. This is fine. He was in command in the 8th, and had quite the nice little pitch count. If he gets in any trouble, you've got a guy who hasn't allowed a run all season behind him. No problem with this at all. 2. Buerhle allows a leadoff single. Time to bring in the AL's best reliever. He hasn't allowed a run all....wait....what? He's staying in? Why? 3. Buehrle gets an out, and allows another single. Ahh, I see Ozzie walking toward the mound. Thank god. Dusty can get two...wait, why did he touch his left arm? Why is Marte...NOOOOOOO!!!!! Worst, move, ever. I know, I know, he induced a grounder that COULD have ended the game, but of course, after one batter, it's bases loaded and one out. 4. Ozzie leaves Marte in to face Quinlan. Nothing else to say here but f***ING AWFUL. Marte has proven time and time again he can't get it done in tight spots in late innings. Just can't. Never mind against a right-handed hitter. This is the point where you absolutely can't do anything except bring in Hermanson. Hermanson, if I haven't mentioned it yet, HASN'T ALLOWED A RUN!!!! GOD!!!! So of course, Quinlan singles, tie game. 5. Marte, of course, walks in the go-ahead run. Now, at this point, it's a complete clusterf***. Finley is up, the lead is gone, so you might as well leave him in for Finley. And he gets him. Great. 6. With 2nd and 3rd and one out, Everett pinch hits for Iguchi. Now, I was at a bar, and blindly furious and slightly inebriated at this point, but did I miss something here? Was Iguchi hurt? Was he replaced earlier? Why in the lord of f*** and ass would a guy who is hitting .300 be replaced with HOT CARL? It makes no f'ing sense. 7. Timo is left in to face Shields with AJ available. Now, Timo does drive in the winning runs, but could the hit have been luckier? The guy hasn't had a good swing since the Clinton administration, and you leave him in for this? So furious!!! In the end, I have never been more pissed off after a dramatic win in my life. Never. Ozzie needs to come to the conclusion that there is more to managing then lefty vs. righty and righty vs. lefty matchups. It's insane. I hated the guy last year because he did this stuff constantly, and I find it ironic on the day he gets an extension through 2008 (nothing like showing loyalty to this guy after TWO MONTHS of good managing) that he shows his true colors. Bobby Valentine never overmanaged like this. Alright, now that the blood has stopped pouring from eyes, I shall stop typing. Have a swell night kids.
  20. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ May 29, 2005 -> 05:32 PM) I don't think he's a Sox fan. Could be but I doubt it. let's get off this guy. considering this thread was over the top negative from start to finish, i don't think senor crede's posts were that bad. i think he meant the hitman comment in jest. as long as he wants konerko at the all-star game, i'll give him some time to get his feet under him lol
  21. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 29, 2005 -> 03:56 PM) Hey...the faster we end this road trip the better. It'll take Joe at least 3 pitches to strike out. Timo should be able to pop up the first pitch. is this timo's last at bat with the sox?
  22. QUOTE(qwerty @ May 29, 2005 -> 03:50 PM) Konerko makes it i leave soxtalk for a month and if he doesn't you do the same. Agree? lol you are so on!!!
  23. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ May 29, 2005 -> 03:45 PM) Tito is not picking Konekro over his own guy (Ortiz) crap, i forgot the yankees didn't actually go to the series. and perhaps if ortiz's fat ass actually played the field regularly, i'd agree. but sweeney is a good one. sexson is just a lankier konerko. maybe it's not as clear cut as i thought, but i stand by my call. and what was the harold reynolds reference?
  24. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ May 29, 2005 -> 03:40 PM) Tino Martinez, Rafeal Palmeiro, Mark Texiera are 3. i'll give you teixeria. no doubt. palmeiro has NINETEEN RBI. puts him on pace for about 60 this season. no shot. tino his hitting just 20 points higher than paulie, with less homers and ribbies. the only reason he gets on that team is because is torre is picking it. sexson might go, but outside of teixeria, none of these guys is head and shoulders above paulie. i'm still accepting wagers on this.
  25. QUOTE(qwerty @ May 29, 2005 -> 03:37 PM) I bet you are into drugs too. just viagara and red bull. show me three first basemen who will get there ahead of him for sure.
