No way the Royals deal him now, they are currently tied for first place. Even if he is a free agent at the end of the year they still get compensation in the draft. CWSOX45 The royals have to deal Beltran before July 31st. It is an important part of their rebuilding process. They have been rebuilding, yet at the same time are in contention right now. I know there is no way in hell that they will re-sign him, but if they were smart wouldn't they trade him for some pitching to help their bullpen? I'm sure they have plenty of prospects in the minors, and since they are contending for the division why not trade Beltran for relievers that could help them go further in the playoffs? I don't think it would be wise just to deal Beltran for prospects, I think they should try to get a couple of proven relievers in the deal. CWSOX45

If they were going to deal Raffy, there would be a team out there that would offer much more than the Sox would be willing to give up. Yeah, most likely. Our farm system isn't weak, it's not the strongest in the league either. Imagine Palmeiro in our line-up, he'd be perfect. As he would in most line-ups. Omar Minaya has confirmed that he will fly to Texas this week and try to convince Juan Gonzalez to accept the trade to Montreal, so here's my question. The Rangers are giving up Gonzalez and are only getting two prospects that aren't even considered top notch prospects. So if they were to deal Raffy Palmeiro what would it take to get him? If the Sox were to acquire Raffy I'd be guessing we'd have to part with Rauch and a couple other pitching prospects. CWSOX45
