  1. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Aug 11, 2014 -> 04:30 PM) My first instinct would be to drive low on the track where it's flat and not near the guy yelling coming towards my car. You know how hard it is to control those cars? Sudden movements on dirt is not a good idea. I'd imagine its more like driving on snow than asphalt or concrete. You're kind of stuck with whatever line you're on.
  2. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Aug 11, 2014 -> 04:24 PM) And rightfully so. Tony Stewart has a tainted history. Because he got in a couple of fights? Give me a break.
  3. Man imagine if this same exact scenario had happened to someone like Jimmie Johnson. I highly doubt as many people jump to the he did it on purpose conclusion so fast.
  4. Chicken fries are back.
  5. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Aug 11, 2014 -> 01:02 AM) Ah, so he just blindly slammed on the gas then. Even smarter. There is no proof he slammed the gas.... Your speculation is as good as anyone else's. The video was shot from the other side of the track. The engine noise could have been coming from any car. Also apparently sprint cars like to stall out when running slow, so you have to constantly slam the gas to keep the engine running when under caution. It appears this was a horrible accident either way. If this guy wasn't so stupid he'd be alive, that's a fact.
  6. Reading the comments here it's pretty clear that people who consistently watch racing don't think Stewart did it on purpose. It's also clear that the people who understand sprint car racing don't think Stewart did anything wrong either . http://www.reddit.com/r/NASCAR/comments/2d...ne_at_a_sprint/
  7. Also the argument that Stewart shouldn't be driving in those types of races is asinine. He loves doing it, and it brings him back to his roots. Any other athlete in other sports does that and it's considered awesome. For instance Pat Kane playing in a men's league was huge news and people thought it was awesome.
  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 10, 2014 -> 10:35 AM) There was no imminent danger, it was simply an inexperienced 20 year old kid losing his temper...making the wrong decision. Many are also arguing Stewart NEVER should be racing in these types of events, he already broke his tibia/fibula a year ago and cost his team dearly in the final Cup standings AND it's putting the NASCAR brand at risk when independent teams/non-unionized contractors are involved in accidents/incidents like this. I wonder how many of his fellow NASCAR drivers were going to refuse to run today if Stewart was determined to race? Did Stewart decide, his sponsors/team or Bill France/NASCAR? Reminds me of that scene in RUSH where a lot of the drivers pushed Nikki Lauda to race in Germany when the track conditions were bad and he ended up getting into a horrific accident. Absolutely none of the others drivers would have refused to drive. I'm sure most are offering their support. There is no way Tony did it on purpose, yeah he might have tried to f*** with the kid but it was an accident either way. Kid shouldn't have gotten out of his car and ran down the track. You're asking for something like that to happen if you do.
  9. 5th'ed If Rose had been healthy the last two seasons I wouldn't want him involved though.
  10. So since I went to ISU... I'm not allowed to root for any FBS teams? Got it.
  11. I thought he was just pitching in relief to limit his innings.
  12. Grounds out to 3rd in his second at bat
  13. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 5, 2014 -> 11:18 AM) Contacts, and I don't see how it would help either, but it does. In fact I think it would make it worse.
  14. What was he doing before the glasses? Was he just going with his regular bad vision? Or was he wearing contacts? I don't see how switching from contacts to glasses would help any.
  15. QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 2, 2014 -> 01:01 PM) I have nothing against Paul George, it's just not THAT big of a deal. If he had torn his ACL, there wouldn't be nearly so much fretting about it despite it being a more serious injury. They're acting like the dude died. This happens to soccer players all the time. PG will be fine and unless they want to go Rose level with the recovery, he should be back before the season ends. And yes, it will be a bad thing if this kills international basketball. It drives interest around the world and a game like last night was a lot of fun to watch. Of the four major sports, basketball is by far the least likely for players to get season ending injuries. That's why Paul George is the first guy to have an injury of real note while playing for Team USA Being a hitter in baseball is much less riskier.
  16. I was so ready to circlejerk with you guys about how rose played too. This sucks.
  17. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 1, 2014 -> 11:58 PM) At what point in the game did this happen? I recorded it and don't want to see this at all. Beginning of the 4th. Game was stopped after that point.
  18. This is just a fracture. Ware was back at the beginning of the next season. Wouldn't be surprised to see George back this season.
  19. If that is the team we go with next year then rick Hahn must've gone into a comma during the offseason.
  20. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 31, 2014 -> 04:25 PM) Mariners in Cleveland. Jackson could pull a Joel Youngblood. I hope he gets there in time. That would be awesome.
  21. QUOTE (scs787 @ Jul 30, 2014 -> 10:13 AM) Phillies have multiple huge contracts. Sox would have 1 and that's with Sale and Q locked up to extremely team friendly deals. Again, assuming they unload Danks, if the Sox add a guy at ~25M that would bring the payroll up to 53M pre arb. Speaking of arbitration, Sox really only have to pick up Nate Jones, who won't be expensive. If JR thinks this team can contend, which he should IMO, you don't think the payroll would be in the 90-100M range? Max/Cueto/Shields wouldn't even put them close to that. No one should be payed 25 million on this team. That's crazy.
  22. Longest game in cubs history in terms of time just ended. John Baker pitched the 16th inning and got the W
