  1. QUOTE (Tex @ Apr 6, 2014 -> 12:26 PM) All the same arguments fit for college athletes. The baseball, swimming, tennis, golf, lacrosse, wrestling, etc teams are losing money. College athletes should also be there for an education. High School football is becoming a year round sport with spring practices, conditioning, football "class" each day. etc. What do you teach? I teach High School Science. I see your points and I know it's roughly the same, something just feels wrong about paying high school athletes that's hard to put into words.
  2. QUOTE (Tex @ Apr 6, 2014 -> 10:30 AM) What are college players? Aren't they student athletes? Or are we just going to allow colleges to hire employees to play for their team and not attend classes? First off college players bring in much more money to their schools then high schools. Most high schools lose money each year in their athletic departments. Football might make it, but then it's lost on the other sports. I'm just not comfortable paying HS kids to play football, it's not right and it'll mess with their mindset that they're there for football and not school when that is not the mentality they should be having. As a teacher I wouldn't be able to deal with students who have that attitude. If college kids choose to go in with that mentality then that's their decision. High school kids are too young and high school is too important for 14 year olds to be getting paid to play.
  3. QUOTE (Tex @ Apr 6, 2014 -> 08:16 AM) If the argument is that some athletes generate profits for their school and deserve a cut, why should it stop in college? Because then they stop being STUDENT athletes which just isn't right in high school
  4. No to HS, that's just absurd. Yes to college.
  5. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 3, 2014 -> 05:10 PM) WTF are you talking about? Did you even look at the links I posted? The act of cloaking items and making them invisible to the human eye is being worked on right now. It's not "magic." I would assume the military does a ton of work with this actually. Whether you bend the light around objects, or wear clothing that just displays the image of what's directly behind it on screens.
  6. Bought the network for mania, hopefully it's worth it.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 1, 2014 -> 03:42 PM) The lack of the mother was a legit gripe of mine and other fans 2-3 seasons ago. That was one of the reasons I stopped watching until the last few weeks (that and the same jokes were getting really old). But that still doesn't excuse the bait and switch. They spent the last 3-4 seasons trying to sell the audience on the idea that Robin and Ted were not going to be together, that they had both moved past that, that Robin and Barney were a legit couple (and Barney had changed his ways and had grown up) and then nope, erase all that, we changed our mind literally the last 30 minutes of a show that aired for 4,576 minutes. Please audience, just buy it. Like Joseph Smith, dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb, dummmmbbbbbb. Just to be clear, it wasn't the worst finale ever. It had its moments. It had a lot of call backs to earlier episodes which I liked. They really nailed the scene where Ted finally meets/talks to the mother. But the ending was just brutally awful. Just last week Robin told Ted she should be with him minutes before her wedding. Before that Ted went way out of his way to get a locket for her so no they haven't spent the last 3-4 years telling us they were bad for each other. Ted has always loved Robin. Even still the Mother and Ted spent 9 years together. That's a great relationship and Ted waited 6 years after her death to go for Robin. Ted moved on from the mother just like the mother moved on from her first love after he died.

I think the ending was too shocking and considered a cop out for people to like it right away. Remember though the final scene was shot in 2006 and it's clear that's the ending teds story should have ended with. I think in time the ending will grow on people. The kids said it

    Absolutely perfect ending.
  11. It would be cool to retire 14 before the last home game of the season.
  12. I'd've probably voted for Dillard over Quinn. Not Rauner though.
  13. Unbelievable the committee did this to the shockers

Really didn't think this weeks HIMYM was as bad as others this season. It wasn't great but it wasn't that bad. The slap episode this season was probably the worst of the season.
  15. Will now subscribe to the network to watch mania after tonight.

    Cosmos was pretty spectacular
  17. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 9, 2014 -> 06:52 PM) You can enjoy/appreciate whatever the hell you want. My point is the Bulls have beaten the Heat like 10 f***ing times in the regular season since the big three formed. How is this still a big deal? When are you going to beat the Heat in the playoffs? Noah getting MVP chants and all this fist-pumping and chest-bumping and heart and passion and emotion and whatever is lame. That should happen in Toronto and Washington. Not the third largest market who had the GOAT and saw 6 rings. So you're saying since the bulls can't win this year due to an injury that people should stop watching and cheering? Today's game should have been played in front of 22k empty seats? Did you watch today? What's the point of being a fan of a team if you cannot watch and enjoy their games if they don't have a shot at the championship? If the white sox sweep a team this year I shouldn't be happy because they probably can't win the World Series? Your logic is so beyond flawed right now.
  18. How over is this raw gunna go? They're having a commercial after it's already supposed to be over?

QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 26, 2014 -> 04:06 PM) Survivor, b****es! What an absolute train wreck the brains tribe was.

I thought the first episode of house of cards was amazing. It's was pretty lackluster after that but it's starting to pick up steam again. Just finished episode 10.
  21. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 15, 2014 -> 10:54 PM) The format was real stupid but at least we got a few good dunks. They finally get stars and ruin it with a horrible format.
  22. Man they need to fire whoever came up with tonight's dunk contest format.

I'd rather it come out in May then a buggy as hell version come out before opening day.
  24. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Feb 11, 2014 -> 10:48 AM) Well, the online live feed does not have commentary, so I couldn't tell if the US team was using terrible strategy, executing horribly, or some combination of both. From what I saw they just f***ed up their three last shots, and had some horrible strategy to start the end.
