6th August Game Thread - Sox vs. Mariners
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 07:39 PM) If we go .500 the rest of the way, we'll make it. That's not the situation that concerns some of us. It's playing .350 ball the rest of the way which is the only scenario that could see the Sox out of the playoffs. I cant see this team play .350 the rest of the season I realize it can happen but were not going to be that bad.

QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 07:34 PM) Actually the Tribe would have to go 39-13. They have played 2 more game than us. they have 52 games left if we go 500 the rest of the year we go 27-27 minus 27 from 41 our magic number and you get 16 that means then the indians can only affrod 16 loses before there out so to get in they would have to go 37-15 to tie 36-16

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 07:27 PM) We play like this, in terms of hitting, the rest of the year....and there will be no playoffs. If we go 500 the rest of the year the indians would have to go 37-15 to catch us. Trust me we are in the playoffs the indians arnt goign to stay this hot and were not going to stay this cold.

QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 07:05 PM) He looks absolutely awful right now. Maybe now is a good time to give him some time off w/ his bad back, and plug Blum at 3rd. Crede defense >>>>> Blum Defense Crede offense >>>>> Blum offense Say no to Blum

Why is that we score in the 1st inning or everygame then wait untill the 7th 8th and 9th to score again. This isnt bad though because you jump on the other team early and finish them off later in the game.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 06:50 PM) Like Podsednik, in the last inning of a Saturday afternoon game against the Indians this season. With 2 outs, Sizemore hit a routine flyball that Pods missed by 75 feet. That play was the one that sparked my comment.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 06:47 PM) Oh yeah, around 6 to 6:45 at the Cell, that sun is brutal. I'm sure a lot of people on here have been out there for batting practice before 7 pm games. It's impossible to see the ball. I remember quite a few times that Carlos misplayed flyballs on Saturday night games. Saturday games at 3 o'clock the left fielders have a really hard time from like 5:30 till the end of the game.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 06:44 PM) Man, another ball that I thought was a hit off the bat by Seattle. Hawk acted upset when the ball was first hit, but Pods was there. Anyball that good contact is made on at the cell is scary

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 06:41 PM) Probably shockingly to most people on this board, I don't hate Uribe. I think he's playing as bad as he possibly can this season. Maybe we should just always give him one year contracts, and make him earn the next one? I also dont hate uribe, his defense is preety good and he usually comes through in the clutch and when he is hot he is impossible to get out.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 06:30 PM) The showed an interesting stat during the Cubs game today. It was a stat that I haven't seen before, but really is important. Jose Reyes and J. Rollins are leading the NL by scoring about 40 pct of the time they reach base. I wonder what Pods ratio is? anybody care to look it up or do the math
