  1. QUOTE (flavum @ May 10, 2011 -> 08:57 PM) Jordy Danks? CRAP. Sorry flavum. Blonde moment.
  2. QUOTE (zenryan @ May 11, 2011 -> 05:47 PM) Over the past couple of years, I've found myself losing more and more interest in baseball and the Sox. I have no idea why really either. It's called getting older. Seriously, I can relate to some points. Ever since 2005, there's a little part of me that says "I saw my team win it all, and really why watch anymore?" I'm guilty. Then there's the most part of me that says "Because you're born on 26th and Wallace back in 73 and you saw your first baseball games versus Detroit in 77, and you met Chet Lemon in 79 and YOU WERE HOOKED FOR LIFE." Being out of state, it doesn't help, especially living in a town where Houston is 3 hours driving away, and Arlington is about 4. And, raising a family too takes up your time, blah blah blah.... Wait, maybe it is getting older. Crap. Well back to my point, can't even THINK about if the Sox move away or if they are ever retracted for any reason. If they do for either, then I will watch a game or two once in a while and see plenty of UT or Texas State baseball as I live right behind their stadium here in San Marcos.
  3. OK, Johnnie Danks. In the last 16 ABs, only 1K. Going back to May 5th. Now I know that's only 5 days but C'MON MAN!!! That's progress. And 4 HRs, 8 RBIs too. NICE. Also for the month of May so far he has an OPS of over 1.300. Discuss.
  4. My near-by choices would be the Rangers or the Astros. And death is not an option. UGH. Don't want to think of no ball on the South Side.
  5. QUOTE (DirtySox @ May 6, 2011 -> 09:34 PM) It's more on JR/KW not willing to spend over slot. The resources are extremely limited. The amount spent on the draft over the past years is disgusting. Spending less in 2 years combined than some teams do in 1 year is appalling. You mean 4 yrs combined than some teams do in 1, dirty. You get what you spend on. Cheap, cheap, cheap = Cheap team.
  6. So is our lineup too. 9 pitches from King, 4 outs. JEEZ PEOPLE, TAKE SOME PITCHES!!
  7. Last 10 games, my AAP Christian Marrero: .368 (14-38), 4 doubles, 2 triples, 2 HR, 1sb. NICE.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ May 6, 2011 -> 09:17 PM) Yet people seem genuinely happy on here with the job Buddy Bell has done. Personally Buddy Bell hasn't done anything except maybe the ol' "Vote Of Confidence" for me.
  9. Want to ask a legit question. Why doesn't Ozzie bat Dunn fourth? If things were going RIGHT, my top of the lineup would have been: Pierre, Becks, Kong, Dunn and Quentin. I see Dunn batting third, fifth; but never cleanup. Having a left-right-right-left-right top of the lineup would help with balancing too many RH hitters the way Guillen has it with Pierre-Beckham-Dunn-Konerko-Quentin-Rios-Ramirez-Pierzynski-3b.
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 6, 2011 -> 09:14 PM) Cue Corpseball. We might have the worst minor league system in baseball and I'm still more excited by Charlotte's game tonight than ours in Seattle. Ugh. Between last night's AAA game with Peavy on the mound, and with Tank continuing to hit, yeah me too.
  11. True Balta. The only thing I really wished the Sox did, even though Mitchell had success in Kanny in 2009, was to bring him back to Kanny, get him some confidence back, and then get him up to WS this summer. I fear that with the advanced pitching in High A, and with Mitchell having a year off because to injury and his poor Winter League stats, will hurt his confidence and/or stunt his growth. I hope that I'm wrong, I really do; but man. He just needs to see the ball, hit the ball. Easier said than done, but I hope he pulls through.
  12. I posed this question in the 5/6 minor league thread. Seems that Jim continues to hit at every level. To our minor league experts, does anyone see him as a possible utility player for the Sox?
  13. Mitchell DID hit his third homer. But still, 17Ks in his last 39 ABs, yikes. He'll get time to develop, but man. Kind of wish the Sox just started him in Kanny and work his way from there. Trayce Thompson has cooled off too. .200 in his last 10 games (7 for 35, 11ks in 35 ABs). Jim Gallagher. ??? What do you think? Utility player for the Sox? He may not have much power according to his career minor league numbers, but he's continued to hit at every level.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 6, 2011 -> 04:58 PM) Remember, we said the same thing last year, and supposedly KW was putting out feelers on trading people when the team suddenly started winning every game they played. If that's the case maybe KW should turn the heat on again. And while we're at it, JR should light a fuse under KW too.
  15. *sigh* It just tells you about the system of things we all live in, and what greedy corporations will do to make a buck.
  16. Wow Tex, that's horrible, sorry you had to hear all that. Seriously, what CAN we do? I don't even know what kind of programs are available in Texas for situations like that.
  17. Yesterday, this is what I would have done. To Charlotte: Morel, Beckham Released or traded: Pierre Recalled: Viciedo, McPherson (backup to 3b), Peavy. Let Vizquel and Lillibridge platoon at 2b, hit leadoff. Quentin to LF. Viciedo to RF. Trade: Edwin Jackson; so that Jake Peavy could take his spot. In a heartbeat, if the Yankees called us about Jackson, I would consider a trade. Maybe getting one of their stud catching prospects, if that's a possibility. AJ and Jackson to NYY for ????? *Sigh* I know I'm stating this off the top of my head and ranting, but oh well. At least try to change it up somehow.
  18. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ May 6, 2011 -> 11:25 AM) John Buck. Ramon Hernandez. Miguel Olivo. Russell Martin. Yorvit Torrealba. All were better free agent options. IMHO, Torrealba and/or Martin >>>>>> AJ. I would have signed Torrealba in a heartbeat. Martin too.
  19. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 6, 2011 -> 11:15 AM) KW loves the status quo, because If one of those guys go then the heat moves to him Mr.Smugass never makes a mistake ask him! JR is ball-less and when they get 8,000 on a summer day I hope he enjoys it because it is what he deserves for being loyal to the extreme! Seriously. Good point. If they get rid of AJ today and called up Donny Lucy or Tyler Flowers, would the catching position be any WORSE than it already is? Seriously???
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 6, 2011 -> 06:29 AM) http://www.kansascity.com/2011/05/05/28530...mes-hosmer.html The stakes on this road trip just got even more complicated. The Royals are launching a warning shot across the bow of the rest of the AL Central. It was one thing when we only had to worry about the Twins. This season, we'd have to jump FOUR teams that now all have a legitimate foundation for ending up as the division winner. We said the Indians aren't real, and maybe they're not, but the Royals have a LOT more talent than the 2003 team that had a 6 1/2 game lead for first place at the ASB. If any of their pitching phenoms can complement Hosmer and Moustakas, watch out. Soon. If Mike Montgomery and Duffy can make it (two lefties for their rotation already dominating in AAA), they're a legit contender. Odorizzi from the Greinke/Brewers deal is also dealing in High A. Great stuff. The more things change around the AL Central, the more they stay the same with the Pale Losers. Dayan Viciedo is starting to rake in AAA, and hasn't been promoted. Why? Oh yeah, because we have Carlos Quentin (who hasn't hit a HR since Apr 22 or an RBI since April 28), Alex Rios (don't get me started) and Juan Pierre (ditto). But "it's still early in the season"...or, "things are going to turn around". Since when did we become the Pittsburgh Pirates? Changes should have been made yesterday. Goodbye Pierre. Say hello to the DL Rios. Say hello to AAA Beckham and Morel. DO SOMETHING INSTEAD OF THE STATUS QUO, BECAUSE CLEARLY, IT'S NOT WORKING. Morons.
  21. How about a Sergio Santos? Seriously. Would love to see SS up there. I'm not good at making banners, tho.
  22. So I take it he's starting the year in Bristol?? http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...&pid=544838
