QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jan 19, 2011 -> 10:07 AM) I move for a rule change on this site. I believe the nickname TCQ should be banned entirely. -
Just take a deep breath and relax pal.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 19, 2011 -> 09:38 AM) Braun said today that by endorsing Emmanuel, Bill Clinton has betrayed African Americans and Hispanics. Also, I thought it was interesting that in her debate talking points, she was the only candidate to specifically reject any new city taxes... but also refused to mention any cuts she'd make, and said that employee pensions were untouchable. Good luck with that combo. She couldn't be more vague in that debate.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jan 19, 2011 -> 09:35 AM) I know this has been beaten into the ground, but I thoroughly dislike your face. That is understandable. It's difficult to live life looking so ridiculously handsome.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jan 19, 2011 -> 09:20 AM) I think I'm developing a man-crush on Ryan Gosling. I've liked every movie I've seen him in. I thoroughly disliked Lars and the Real Girl.

Exactly what I was thinking.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 18, 2011 -> 06:48 PM) Dead time in movieworld.... Did anyone see THE GREEN HORNET? Ebert gave it a 1 star, quite unusual for him. Of Gods and Men and Exit Through the Gift Shop...both "high recommends" Tried to watch Season of the Witch online and gave up after an hour...Burlesque was so-so at best and not an Aguilera fan (she has a great voice, you have to give her that much, but as an actress, forget it), Love and Other Drugs was actually better than I thought it would be because I liked Jake Gylenhaal's character (Anne Hathaway, not so much, except for boobs) and Hank Azaria, he's one of those character actors like Steve Buscemi, Stanley Tucci and Richard Jenkins I almost always enjoy, but never quite rising to Agadore Spartcus in The Birdcage...(even watching the original True Grit, it made me think of Nathan Lane's John Wayne impression, quite hilarious) Conviction you'll like if you are a Hilary Swank or Sam Rockwell fan, based on true story...that role is a "fastball down and in" for LH hitter Hilary Swank, in my opinion Will try to watch Hereafter and She's Out of My League (yes, reaching the bottom of the barrel) and figure out some better ones to watch from the last five years or so that I haven't already seen....any recommendations? Am going to watch The King's Speech, will be interesting to see if Social Network wins the OSCAR, all momentum seems to be pointing that direction. Watched that a couple weeks back. Fascinating film.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 18, 2011 -> 04:33 PM) I'd add on something to this, we have too many offices that are voted in. Judges being the dumbest. No doubt.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 18, 2011 -> 04:02 PM) This irritates me - not your post, but this topic. For any given person on any given election in Chicago, once every two years or so, maybe once a year at most... you have zero to 8 Constitutional offices and maybe zero to 10 local offices to vote for. Why is it so beyond people to spend a f***ing hour once a year to make an intelligent decision about who represents them in government? I mean, I get that with judges and water commissioners, there is little or no info available. Fine, on those, use party or whatever. But your alderman? State rep? State Senator? It is just so frustrating to me that 99% of voters know nothing about these people. You are GIVING away your freedoms and rights by not paying attention.
-
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 18, 2011 -> 03:47 PM) if you follow their decisions it's pretty easy to tell what party they fit into. I'd guess 1 out of 1000 people might. EDIT: I bet if you asked 10 random people on the streets of Chicago who was running for mayor that none of them would guess all of the candidates correctly. You're telling me anyone will know all of the judges on the ballot?
-
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 18, 2011 -> 03:45 PM) I think if you're electing people like say judges, those "national" issues do have a local connection and could be very important. Knowing the judges I know, their policies dictate their view on the law every bit as a Supreme Court judge. Who the heck elects judges? No one knows a thing about them. You either vote them all back in or you ignore that part of the ballot. It's not like they have a party affiliation next to their name.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 18, 2011 -> 03:32 PM) So just make sure to take her to the south, some of those states have much younger age of consent laws. Just don't "enter the rear" in the south.

Actually that would have helped.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 18, 2011 -> 02:40 PM) Has there ever been a 'proven' prospect in the history of the sport? I don't know all of the millions of prospects that have come up in the 100+ years of the sport but I'd assume there were some. -

QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ Jan 18, 2011 -> 02:32 PM) Er, I'd want to hold on to Danks as long as possible, but maybe I'm missing something. Think of all the unproven prospects we could get for him! -
Xevious was a game I spent many quarters on back in the day.
