Sometimes you just need to tip your cap. Now where did I put that puke bag?

Pretty soon the GOP ticket will need to tell us what their policies are. "We're mavericks and eat moose burgers" isn't going to cut it.

Sarah Palin
I'd just like to note that after 29 pages in this thread it would be very difficult to find a whole lot of substantive reasoning for Palin being a good selection other then political reasons to win on November 4th. EDIT: What happened to "Country First"?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 11:46 AM) Its not something I like for those reasons, but it makes it legal. But you've been calling Obama a hypocrite for the past 18 months. "He's just like any other politician"

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 09:51 AM) I'm making a business trip tomorrow, and I am on the company dime as soon as I get into my car to MDW. You should be. And I would guess you will not bill tonight's stay IN YOUR OWN HOME as a business expense.

QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 10:29 AM) All senators home base is their home state and they travel on gov't dime. Congressman too. If they stayed in Washington year round they would never meet with constituents and would be considered to have potomac fever. It is in our best interests to pay for these trips. This is a dumb topic, and it pertains to everyone in the conversation (all actors in the topic not the posters) Isn't the basis of the article that she was billing taxpayers for staying in her home? I can see getting reimbursed for being on the road but when you are eating and sleeping in your own home why would she need to be reimbursed?

More info regarding Alaska: So much for her being an agent of change.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 10:13 AM) and like I said, that's totally fine. I get that. I'm not too sure I;d want to move my family of 5 either, but I would never bill the state to see my kids. That was MY choice I made when I ran, so I should foot the bill. The article also stated her secessionist husband was billing the state too. What's that all about?

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 08:36 AM) Maybe. Most likely when Al Davis isnt allowed to call all of the shots anymore. His personnel decisions since the Oakland-Tampa superbowl have been atrocious Al needs to go. I've been saying that even during the Gruden years.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 09:42 AM) that's a good point. I have no idea if it will result in any votes but it was worth mentioning.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 08:38 AM) Even doing that, she still spent less the the guy she replaced. She even firer HIS personal chef that he kept. Maybe if she had a few book deals she could have afforded to buy a second house near the capital. Move? Has Obama moved to Washington since he has been in the Senate? He has been on record saying that he has 'only' one house. He rents an apartment in Washington.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 08:38 AM) outside of New York, I dont see Koch as relevant, even to Jewish voters in FL. I would think quite a few New Yorkers who have retired in Florida were living in NY when he was mayor.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 08:23 AM) I wonder if the Wa Post has a team of reporters going over Biden's expense reports? Considering he has been in office almost as long as Obama has been alove, I am sure there would be enough in there to keep them busy for a long time. But no one knows squat about her. Biden has been in the public eye for decades.

QUOTE (Cknolls @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 08:20 AM) Come on, you know these polls mean nothing now. I still contend that national polls are pretty irrelevant. Especially 2 months before the election and 4 days after one of the party's conventions.

QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Sep 8, 2008 -> 08:03 PM) Hey, this is cute. Turns out that Palin was a member of an Assembly of God church in Wasilla that preaches that Alaska will be one of the "refuge" states during the End Times. She visited and spoke there in June of this year where she talked about a proposed pipeline being part of God's plan for Alaska. She went to a more traditional church starting in 2002. The same year she ran for Lieutenant Governor. http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/politics/...palin.faith.cnn The cuteness of Palin will wear off soon. This pick will blow up in their face before it's all said and done.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Sep 8, 2008 -> 02:55 PM) Obama identified one of the 7 states he thought existed that nobody else knew about! New Pennsylvania! I wonder if that is next to New Ohio? Anyone know what the capitol is of New Pennsylvania? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AuysikG55Ks I think it borders Czechoslovakia.

Watched Lars and the Real Girl as well as The Savages over the weekend. Savages was solid. Lars had me until about the last 3rd of the movie when it became a bit too ridiculous.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 8, 2008 -> 12:57 PM) Not sure if you realize this, but, if you increase cap gains tax, it WILL effect basically everyone in the country. Just because you don't pay that tax bill, doesn't mean the bill won't be passed down to you indirectly. I realize that but the average American doesn't know squat about investing in the markets.
