I have an idea to help Sox starting pitching
rowand's rowdies replied to UC76's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Jon is this years Jose. and Yes, Jon Garland has the most wins in the MLB over the last 2 years. That would make him the best starter in baseball. Think about it, the goal is to win the game, and he has won the most over the last 2 seasons. He is the best starting pitcher in the MLB. -

this is not a first amendment thing, man. -
Im back after a week long bullshaat suspension. Here ya go negative sox fans, remember about 10 days ago when I posted this? Now maybe you believe in your team. I was also terribly disapointed when I went to Sunday's game. I sat on the aisle (left field/3rd base line) and countless fans walked right past my view during pitches and at bats. Obviously a real baseball fan knows you can only go down the ailse if it is in between: (1) batters (2) during a pitching change (3) innings Do we really want these type of fans at the park? Sure they are buying tickets and supporting the team, but come on, I couldn't even watch the game half the time. Where are the ushers stopping this?

Yansy, shut your F'in mouth. There is no reason to tear down Brandon. He doesn't look like he needs it, wait, no one needs it. IT wasen't constructive criticism. It wont make him better or happier with this org, which he is the future of. I picked Buehrle because of his success in the pen. He has done it in the past more than the others. He is also a lefty, but then again we would have 0 Lefty starting pitchers. But then again I am not a big fan of the LEfty/Righty decisions. Just because a hitter gets 30 hits out of 100 abs (official) against a lefty and only 23 out of 100 (official) against a righty, I dont see the reason to worry about it too much.

Mark should be given 1 more chance to start. If he throws well, he can stay in the rotation. If not, why not put him in the bullpen? He has done it before and succeeded. He is much better suited for the bullpen than McCarthy, a career starter. Ozzie, shut the hell up. You continue to cut down Mc - "Hes not friggin Cy Young", and "He pitched bad for us last year, check the stats". CHECK YOUR F IN MOUTH OZ. He is the future. He has excelled when he gets to START. Throw JD into center field and see what happens. He won't be as well as he would be in right, where he has played. Buehrle is flexible and his arm is tired. Let him be an effective lefty out of the bullpen. We will need him in this stretch. I would do it now, but Ozzie may need another poor start to see it. Why not change it now when it looks like the team may be about to turn the corner? Come on Oz, let's be a manager instead of a player.

we have him for 6 or 7 million next season (club option). why would we sign him to an extension? Hes going to be 33 next year i believe. if he continues this way, you negotiate an extension next season at sonme point. if not, you let him go at the age of 34. But i do love your point that left field should be open (calling any prospect with an right arm). Center is Brians, Right is JDs, left could be a FA or Fields or Sweeney. My vote is sweeney (similiar to Joe Crede imo, will need a few yrs in the bigs to reach his potential).

i would bet 90% of the people who say he is horrible have never seen him pitch outside houston a couple years ago. don't listen to our local scouts, they are basically espn analysts (sorry for the harsh words).

gloads double was called foul and the check swing. spiffty. HR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! JD!!!!

i have seen pablo, he would have made that catch. so would mack...why do we have 3 of the worst outfielders (defensively) in the mlb? Dunn is worse, but he has a better arm by far, most of us even have a better arm.

worst LF ever. please dont make excuses...anyone

QUOTE(JimH @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 12:35 PM) Yes, Jose Cruz Jr. is another name to watch. Don't know a whole lot about him other than his stats. he was pretty sweet in N64's Ken Griffey, Jr Baseball. Although that game was fixed...

keep it going boys.

Mark is the key to our turnaround. Jon is doing well, Jose is fine. Garcia is going to be a solid #4 and believe it or not Javier is still not a horrible #5. We need a #3 starter, and Mark can be that and more if he gets back to form.
-
let's let him play 2-3 games a week with us since he is hitting well. pick our spots with thome and give konerko a day off once a week for pete's sake.
-
thanks soxrock, its not like i started this same thread last night or anything (Division?). we might as well have 2, we may need it.
-
pods and mack are two of the worst outfielders I have EVER seen. Dye is above average. Anderson is well above average. Pods and Mack will continue to cost us runs, but if they can get on base, I guess we will have to take it...

OVER??? WAS IT OVER WHEN THE GERMANS... We all know the quote. I don't know the exact record we have had since the all star break, but I am sure we can all agree we should have at least 3 more wins than we do since the ASB. That would have put us a mere 4.5 games back. Even now at 7.5 back we are in the race. Detroit is starting to collapse a little (like weve all said before, it isnt going to be a 5 game losing streak, itll be 4 of 7, 6 of 10, ect.). Little by little we climb back in, IM CALLING IT NOW. Min might be a bigger threat actually... Let's keep this thread as our good luck charm until we are back in 1st!!! We will call it now before the media starts it. Then we, as true WHITE SOX fans, can say we called it, not some wish wash writer who calls it when we go on a 3 game winning streak.
-
i like to call that the Royce Clayton, ever since he cost the sox 4 runs in a cubs sox game. not much worse than making a lazy error and it costs you a run.
-
Sweep here is really, really, really important. Hopefully the Jays play NY as tough as they play us, and the Rangers can take 1 or 2 from the twinkies. Maybe Detroit will start a lil tailspin after last night. No reason not to sweep this team.

First of all, I am for trading for Soriano. We do need another bat apparently since we are not scoring and 50% of the time we do it is off of a HR. Our pitching will improve at least a little and as long as it does, if we add some offense, we will be fine. As for defense, Pods couldnt be much worse, and for what I hear, Soriano is doing just fine. We will win the wild card (barring what I still think will be some losses by Det and a Cleveland-esque run for us, which IS possible) and then we can beat up on the tigers, boSox, or whoever else is in the playoffs. We will NOT be playing like this in 2 months. My question is- WHY IS WASHINGTON GOING TO TAKE THE PACKAGE WE ARE TALKING ABOUT???? For the last month it was players like Zumaya, McCarthy, and other top prospects. Now its Pods, Phillips, and another prospect??? No way. I wouldn't trade Vaz for that. Why would they trade one of the best players in baseball for that? When McDougal gets our best pitching prospect and a good 2nd prospect? Just my thoughts.

anyone have what stark had to say on insider, it says on the headline he isn't so sure the sox are getting AS.
-
great move, I love Sandy... he will do great here. you "fans" doubting this move... let me know another catcher who knows our team, city, and pitching staff, is a great stable leader in the clubhouse, and is batting .323 (albeit in limited ABs). otherwise shut up please.
-
gregory, i sure hope you are not questionign that quote..if you are you have not seen one of the greatest movies of all time. 5.5 games back sucks, but we will be fine if we start playing good baseball. if not, i dont want us in the playoffs. sorry. we have beaten the tigs 6 of 9 times so far. here is how it breaks down - we play like we can and beat the tiggers 7 of 10 times (5 of 6 at home and 2 of 4 at comerica), we only have to gain 1.5 in the other games. beat them 6 of 10 (very likely), we have to gain 3.5 in other games. play real well and beat them 8 of 10 times, we are .5 games up. only win 5 of the 10, we dont deserve a chance, but we still can gain 5.5 in other games. like PJ said in Angels in the Outfield, "Hey, it can happen."

let's give away 3 or 4 outs a game letting him play. I'm sorry Widge, you did a nice job last year, but we cant have a player play like this on a championship team... And its not just Widge's play that will hurt. We wont be able to rest AJ, he will wear out faster, and then we are hurting more. Bring back OLIVO!!!
